We are the Smash Grouds – a public Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Discord full of more than 40 active users who are looking to get tournament-ready. Our Discord is 7 months old, and we've grown from the ground up in that time, pulling from users solely on the SmashBoards/friends of friends - we're proud of our personable, intimate environment, and many of us are on first name terms.
Our users can attest to the improvements they've seen in training with our Coaches in that brief period of time. Our Coaches are talented players who will schedule play times with you throughout the week if you're looking for personalized opportunities for improvement. Voice chat is highly encouraged in all matches.
While we do try to maintain a relaxed atmosphere during matches, we've also zeroed in recently on preparing our community for upcoming tournaments, so constructive feedback and discussion on competitive play are integral to the environment on the Smash Grounds. I will emphasize that all players and skill levels are welcome on our Discord, but you must have a drive to improve if you want to join, and we ask that you are active on the Discord at least once a week – after all, why join if you can't be active? If you can't be active, you won't improve.
You will be contacted personally and reminded to participate if you've been idle for more than a week, and removed from the Discord if you don't reply. A base line level of communication is all that's required. Just tell us what's going on.
Every day we have arenas going on morning, noon, and night. We have users representing every time zone in the US, as well as five users in the EU and even one in Japan. No matter who you are, or where you are, someone will always be ready to play with you. Our only precondition is that you leave any toxicity at the door and be respectful. Remember you're part of a community of diverse individuals all striving for the same thing you are, and we won't prioritize anyone who jeopardizes that.
We have semi-recurring tournaments with cash prizes, as well as a weekly game night, where it's not uncommon for around half of our total community to be playing together at any given time.
At the moment, one of our goals as a community is to evolve in to something resembling a Crew. We will soon be working on an official logo, and we'd be honored if you put <SG> in front of your gamer tag if you're enjoying your time with us! As it happens, we're throwing a Banjo vs Hero crew battle this upcoming Monday at 11 EST/8 PST, as part of our weekly game night.
