Well, come on. I see requests for these kinds of things all the time, but when I make a topic about them, it's virtually ignored.

Eh, I didn't want to at first to avoid overcrowding with stickies, but what the heck. It'll probably save me from closing some related topics in the future.

Question:

I see you have Fox and Falco's BtT (Space Animals in BtT Land), do you by chance have the Link and Y. Link one (A Rang to the Past)?

Homerun Contest Discussion

it wasnt until last week (1/2/06) that i heard of this technique called "bat dropping", which seems to be very effective. However, I really do think that before i learned how to bat drop(which i still suck at) that i had the best scores with every character, using only their own moves, followed by the bat smash at the end of 10 seconds. doing this the hard way i guess you could say, i managed to get every single character over 1200 feet, yes everyone without bat dropping. My two farthest were yoshi with 2653.6 feet, and ganondorf with 1945 feet (again no bat dropping) my combined total for everyone without bat dropping was 36,754.8 feet, which i believe no one else has ever gotten without bat dropping at all. try doing the homerun contest without bat dropping and see how far you can get the sandbag, and then post your results back here and i'll compare to mine. now this is just supposed to be some fun competition, so please dont make up numbers, and dont bat drop. i really want to see what people can really get without bat dropping because i have some pretty good numbers that i think would be hard to beat. LET THE CONTEST BEGIN!

I got 1067.7m / 3503.0ft with Ganondorf in the PAL-version (less % from ADAs).
And 459.0m / 1505.9ft with ICs.
Haven't played NBA with anyone else.

you should show some REAL evidence like a picture or something, cause i could say i did 99,999,999+ with pichu only using A and no smash attack!!, but for getting back at the thread it would be some fun to try that

its not possible to get 3503.0 feet with ganondorf without bat dropping

also i have no idea what the PAL-version is or what (less % from ADAs) means, but all i know is mine (game) is measured in feet NOT METERS, and it is not some wierd version of the game. its just your basic american game that you would find in any game store

does anybody know about the "thud" sound that with most characters makes the sandbag go farther when smashed?

**NOTE- the "thud" sound, i like to call it, is the same sound when you use the bat with donkey kong and you are too close (not the high pitched scream sound when you hit the bag)

Yeah I know what you mean by the thud sound (also called the "no-ping hit"). I used it with almost all of my characters since I'm not good with bat drop combos. I'm gonna go check my scores real quick and I'll post back here when I got 'em.

Just by saying this makes me think you are one hell of a crappy hrc-player. I'm not saying I'm better or anything, I still think you did a nice job without batdroping. Oh and I'm a PAL player myself, and trust me, it's not some weird version of the game, it's just that if you overuse a move it does less damage in PAL.

A good hrc-player will just know when something is possible or not.
By implying something's not possible, because it's higher than your own score, is just plain dumb. I'm willing to believe you have some great scores, make vids of them and show them here!
But remember your not the only one playing hrc, there are many many players out there, some quicker than you, and some people who have thought of better NBA (No bat allowed) and NBD (No batdrop) strats than yours.

PAL version = the version we have in Europe, and also Australia and some other places.
The reason that your game measures in feet is because you have the NTSC version (American/Japanese) and the language set to english. Turn it into japanese, and you get a bigger platform where the distance is in meters. The PAL version ONLY has the japanese HRC-stage. Big platform & meters. So I just converted my meter-score into feet.

ADA = Aerial Down A. That attack does 1% less damage in the PAL version, which is why you can get a better score in NTSC using the same strategy.

I also have video proof of both of my two NBA scores.
I also have video proof of all my HRC scores.
Should I also say that I'm the best HRC player in Sweden, and about 6th-7th in Europe. I know what I'm talking about =)

BTW, my Total Hi-score is 33884.5m / 111173.9ft

My bests are Ganondorf with 5318 feet, Captain Falcon with 3100+ feet, and Yoshi with 2600+ feet. I've gotten over 2000 with Fox, Falco, Mario, Samus, and Roy. But those are all with BD, so meh. I have everyone over 1000 feet though :D

OK thats good and great but jesues, how in gods name do you do that with Ganon? Please explain how you can get even over 2500 feet w/ Ganon let alone 5318. PLz I am amazed by the large numbers I'm seeing and I would like to do it myself.

I wasn't doing NBA, so that's why I got so high. The world record is more than twice my score :)

I made a vid of my 5318 feet, you can find that here. It didn't record sound though, so I put the rocky theme for the music.
