The Official SBR-B Brawl Tier List v2.0

Below you’ll find the second official SBR-B Brawl tier list. The previous tier list can be found here:

A tier list is an ordered list of the characters based on their competitive value in the current metagame. It basically shows which characters are currently doing well in tournaments. Note that player skill is more important than character choice and match ups can overcome tier differences, but at an equal player level a bottom tier character will usually have a very tough time against a top tier character. This list will probably change over time, as Brawl is still relatively young and the Melee tiers were debated until the very end. So don’t give up on your character just yet, maybe you’re the one to make a difference!

The list was created by the SBR-B after much heated discussion. For the votes, we had members place the characters in groups from 1 to 15 (15 being the highest) and took the average score for each character. The split was decided by looking at the gaps. As the person supervising it, I’d like to thank all SBR-B members who contributed.

This chart shows the score each character got when the votes were averaged. The divisions were placed so that:

1. Gaps between tiers were relatively large, and
2. The spread within tiers was relatively small.

The particular number of tiers isn't special--that's just how the votes ended up. The majority of us believed that using a smaller number of tiers would be misleading, given the results.

Expect the next tier list on June 5th.

I'd like to know what constitutes what letter grade a character is in this tier list. Could you explain this please?

For instance, there's only a 2 point difference between the SS and A tiers, yet there is nearly a 3 point difference between A and C which are the same alpha value apart from one another. There's also a 1.1 point difference between SS and S, then a .9 point difference between S and A then a .5 difference between the bottom of A and the top of B, and a .6 difference between the bottom of B and the top of C.

The tier list looks accurate, but it honestly looks more like Metaknight and Snake being in their own tiers is more of a john than anything because there is no discernable, logical reason for the seperation of the tiers.

Also, could you please explain the change from the old system of 'top' 'mid' and 'bottom' to the new system please?

This list fails on so many levels.

Lmfao @ MK in his own tier. He is certainly not a whole tier higher than Snake. A-Tier is decent although Marth is too high. Many characters are horribly misplaced and show how stupidly biased the SBR is (Pikachu, ICs are ~1 Tier too high), especially when I see that Olimar is still placed too low

Even the first list was better...

Marc should change SS Tier to "Meta Knight Tier", S Tier to "Snake Tier" and then the A Tier to Top Tier and the rest can follow the normal patter.
