Okay, after having read the last two pages after the fast it's pretty obvious that Zach and Kage just don't really understand each other well. You have to know Zach to understand that even when he says "**** that guy", he doesn't mean it hatefully or meanly, he's more just saying, "I don't like what they say/do so I don't wanna hear/read it." I'm sure he and Kage would get along fine in person as they are both silly and easy to get along with.

Kage's reaction I'm kind of disappointed with. For anyone who fancies themself a warrior of light, which is a fine mindset for improvement and enlightenment, should also understand that acts of aggression (threats, anger etc) are unacceptable and frowned upon in almost all social discussions. If someone makes an offhand comment like "**** that guy" it should be contextualized, maybe questioned, but not responded to angrily. Being oversensitive and emotionally vulnerable is a weak tendency for a "warrior" to have as it demonstrates impatience and lack of understanding.

And FYI, before someone accuses me of being hypocritical on this, I'd like to say that when I started subjecting myself to this type of scrutiny a while back I found that I stopped ever really getting mad. In most contexts when people think I'm mad on the boards it's more people assuming something about my nature based on past experience, which is reasonable enough, especially if they haven't interacted with me in the last year or so.

Kyle is far from the only person who understands or discusses logical fallacies on these boards. He's just normally more ready to engage the headache of bringing it up to people who don't understand logic...which is a large portion of the people on the boards. Trying to argue with someone who doesn't understand logical terms in logical terms is like talking to a wall. Also, Doublethink is an Orwellian concept more about psychology (basically, cognitive dissonance without the present disruption) than about logical fallacy, though they kind of go hand in hand.

In other news, Corey came over and worked on my controller last night. My L button is no longer capable of light shielding (<3) and works again, and my actual shell is black (front) and orange (back). I feel like my previous favorite 2 controllers made and had a legit looking child. Also, Corey is a bro and Project: M is still so fun. Kirby/DDD/MK all the way.

EDIT: And Fox is definitely not the only character that approaches, Theo! Stop limiting your thinking, boiiiiii. :083:
EDIT2: <333 to all my legit Ganon mains in this thread.
EDIT3: FFFFF Kevin's jacketless self.
EDIT4: MY GLASSES

I know you weren't, girl. I'm just messin. Hurry back, you Scottish terrier of a man you.

I agree.

Personally I don't feel compelled to point out fellatious things.. there are too many examples in nc smash to list.
Insulting Kyle like this is pretty damn uncalled for.

"Fellatious" things sound awesome, and I agree NC smash has too many examples to list.

"Fallacious" things however are much less fun. lmao

And personally, after your discourse on counterexamples, I'm pretty sure you fall into the category of people who think "I think I'm logical so I understand logic" rather than actually understanding logical argument, which is an overarching mathematical system applied to language (in Philosophy) which shows inconsistencies based on logical forms and fallacies.

EDIT:

So a warrior is not allowed to have emotions? lol...
Of course he is. He uses his passion for things to succeed.

But a warrior is supposed to have full control of his emotions, especially his temper, being that anger makes you stupid in the moment and in hindsight is almost NEVER the best or even a good option.

yeah, if kage and moo met at a poker table over some bud lights, sure, maybe this pointless argument that we're pointless pointing at would never happen. . . but it doesn't change the fact that the degree of kage's egocentrism caused an actual elevation of the most common imperative in the english language to a level of importance that requires him to compound the initial amount of negativity like he's avenging a family member or some ****. n****, do you realize how tiny you are? do you REALLY? and even that doesn't mean you're not bigger than something. . . ironic how you act like you're smaller than anything...

Cam uses them pretty well. I'm working on some things with them.

it's ****ing good. Anything that makes you look like your going to be in one place then your in another is ****. I learned a lot from playing you chris and your waveland bait tools. Hopefully I can come up with great technology.

btw. Cam: Damn.

but yeah I agree

It's not pointless if you learned something.

@Lightsyde, Full control of emotions? I don't agree with that... They happen like a passing weather, I'm not really mad anymore but denying that I feel something is also wrong. Something I heard a warrior will never have is control.. since it's impossible to always have the best outcome out of everything, things will happen along the way that will possibly even break your dreams too. You never know... however my experience determined how I react to certain things, so I mean that's who I am, I will never let anyone belittle me anymore or trample on my being, **** off if you try.

Jesse: Ad hominems are actual insults. I cited an instance where you demonstrated a lack of understanding about logical arguments. It wasn't meant in a negative manner.

However, the way you quoted Kyle and insulted him was, in fact, an ad hominem.

As far as waveland discussion goes...I waveland with every character on every stage in almost every necessary situation. I don't really know what Falcos Chris is even directing that towards as we have some of the weirdest, butteriest spacies players ever (not just wavelands, NC's spacies stuff is super edgecancel heavy, especially the way me, Austin and Cam have evolved). Full platform wavelands look so sick midcombo. But yeah, they are tooooo good. Makes me wanna play.

Kage: I didn't say anything about denying that you feel something. It's about reinterpretting the emotions you feel and acting in a responsible manner. You may have heard "something a warrior will never have is control." You call that warrior, I call that childish. I'm pretty sure if you looked at any great work about war (Sun Tzu's Art of War, for example), they talk all about the importance of feeling yet staying composed while acting and speaking. It what makes you an adult. What good is this mindset of yours if you can't apply it to real life? It just makes you a brash warrior in your head and a joke to everyone else. In my opinion, no one was trying to belittle or trample on you in the first place. You literally just don't understand the person who was talking.

Straw-man. *facepalm*
"A straw man is a component of an argument and is an informal fallacy based on misrepresentation of an opponent's position. To "attack a straw man" is to create the illusion of having refuted a proposition by replacing it with a superficially similar yet unequivalent proposition (the "straw man"), and refuting it, without ever having actually refuted the original position. Generally, the straw man is a highly exaggerated or over-simplified version of the opponent's original statement, which has been distorted to the point of absurdity. This exaggerated or distorted statement is thus easily argued against, but is a misrepresentation of the opponent's actual statement."

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Straw_man

Again, a straw-man would entail that I misrepresented your position. I rather just pointed out that what I had said was an explanation of the term "ad hominem", not an insult. And then went on to cite an example of an ad hominem, which you had provided. It would be very difficult for me to exaggerate or over simplify a one word post (which was misdirected at an explanation).

I am grateful that you have continued to misuse your lack of understanding about logical terms to reaffirm to anyone reading that you in fact do not know what these words mean.

I mean, it's okay. Please understand I'm trying to be constructive, not insulting. I personally think you say a lot of good things and have a good mindset. I just hate seeing little stuff (misuse of anger in this instance, something I used to struggle with a lot) cause people to think less of you, even if you say you don't personally care.

*facepalm* Nice try, but those of us proficient with logical terms label this as argumentum ad logicam.

I assume you are referring to my saying you don't understand logical terms as being the ad logicam.

Ad logicam is related to proving separate conclusions by analyzing logical forms. In order for me to have ever committed this you would have actually had to put forward an argument (you haven't) and I would have had to draw a conclusion wholly separate from just pointing out your fallacies and explaining your misuses, which I haven't. It is pretty connected that if your usage diverges from a wikipedia definition and an explanation from someone with a BA in Philosophy, it is obvious you don't understand the words you're using.

Well if I didn't care at all what people thought of me then I wouldn't get mad in the first place, I do care a lot because I want to do the best I can always. Sometimes.. i can get over-zealous and will do everything to get what I want, that could be really good or a fault like you saw.. I can see both sides of let's say the light and darkness, sometimes I could choose the wrong one.. Though i still like both sides anyway.. =(
