Cam: I wrote a part just for people like you who wouldn't listen. It's all in there.
If only one thing comes out of this, then it will be the knowledge of my stance on everything that has been going on in this state to be known. Knowing us, that's probably the only thing that will happen besides fighting, but if I can change one mind, even if only a little, then the text I wrote was worth it.

oh, and i'll say it again because it's ****ing true:
The main thing that motivates people (or at least me) about rankings is how ****ing wrong they are.
or at least how wrong people THINK they are.
in other words, rankings are TROLLS ESPECIALLY IF PEOPLE DON'T UNDERSTAND HOW THEY ARE MADE TO BEGIN WITH.
the 5-10 in NC is what sustains me about the rankings because i don't think any of those people are better than i am. not Karn, not Foxy, not DJ, not Stingers. the best one from that crowd IMO is Theo without a doubt. best reaction time, understands more about the game (at least while it's occurring) than anyone else i play in that area of the rankings, and i don't doubt that i am able take his *** down in tourney either.
hell, i even think i can take Mike, i play that guy enough to know him better than the vast majority of NC, our last set came down to me SDing.
i've only friendlied Twitch, and i won some of them, but i'm more confident in the match-up now, so we'll see how that goes.
all i'm saying is PP that rankings can help me stay in line, but i'm the kind of person that can make it too personal. you're elevating rankings to the point at which they actually reflect what occurred. **** GETS TOO ****ED UP AND CONTRADICTED FOR THEM TO BE EXACTLY RIGHT. i have to remind myself that they don't matter, and i need to show everyone, no matter what the rankings say, that i am NOT the number.

You might want to refer to the part where I say rankings aren't perfect enough for people, but they still do a great job of reflecting improvement in a tournament environment, which is the only thing that can really be used to show when someone is better(something I also talked about and elaborated on).

DJ shouldn't have entered if he didn't have a good controller.
Stongers was still good enough to beat DJ with something like a smallish handicap, but again, that doesn't matter. He lost. The end.

so DJ thinking he shouldn't have lost is what's going to give him the drive to **** Stingers up next time.
the rankings are just ****ing trolls. you elevate them to the ten commandments (probably since you just flew up them faster than d1ckballs, which comes with a lot of positive mental ****, but you would probably just deny that immediately), BUT THEY AREN'T. that's not reality. the rankings are just a big p1sser AND AFTER PEOPLE DIE NOT EVERYONE WHO SAYS THEY GAVE A ****, ACTUALLY GAVE A ****.
i don't agree with the rankings not existing. i like them. "no johns" is the only way to go cause no one is psychic. you just took this way out there and have a view about the rankings that i feel gives them an undeserved nobility.
the "truth" of the rankings is what maybe helped you grow PP, cause you were good enough to probably not be affected by skepticism. but as far as "consistently close" rankings are concerned, it's how false they are that makes them do their "job."

btw, when i say the rankings are "wrong" i mean in reflecting skill (which is correlated with "improvement").
i understand that this isn't the job of the rankings (assuming skill = overall ability in game). i'm just saying that's exactly why people become motivated.
but that also doesn't mean the rankings won't do its job, giving multiple things for motivated players to prove false.
so PP, skill already has a definition. the rankings don't reflect skill because they are about the assumption that this is what this person is capable of. which is perfectly fine for many reasons. no johns.
just wanted to clear that up. i'm def done with this.
For those wondering, Cam and I disagree on what "skill" is.

Yeah, there will always be issues about rankings when people look at the rankings list as a true measure of skill; it's not. In theory it should be as close as possible, but really all you can do is go off of tournament results. Rankings = the list of people that have shown the best performance recently in tournament.

You're right with all 3 of those statements. I didn't even read 90% of the stupid **** on this thread....... couldn't help but say that though considering things i've observed over the few months. And for the record I've always liked kevin a lot, which is another reason why I said that.
and keith i don't see this even happening because it would be really stupid but screw anyone who gets mad over your sig.

I only have the best interest of NC at heart. Unfortunately I probably said everything I wanted to at once and made everything that was already going to be difficult to deal with even worse. I don't mind though.

and we are all guilty of it, i've done it. it's how we say "sure they're good, but had my performance (or others' performances) reflected REAL skill, i/they would be higher".
as much as anyone says "i just don't care about the competitive aspect of rankings", or "it messes with my mentality", or "they're wrong"...
if you don't care about competitive rankings, why do you enter tournaments trying to play your best? if your mentality gets bothered, then you aren't as smart a player, either, and you aren't as good. and if you think they're wrong, well, you all know how they're made, and if you care, you can change them...

i really really didn't want to post in this argument but i felt i needed to since i run the PR's now.
eh, i didn't read everything you said PP, and i just felt from the tone of it that i just wouldn't agree 100%. well, i more just disagree with how you present your opinions rather than the opinions themselves. but i'm sure you wish you could express them better as well.
