Nintendo Music was updated to version 1.1.0, finally adding in a volume balancing feature (which at least for me has been enabled by default, but you can find the toggle in Settings -> Playback and downloads).

I listen a lot to Mario Kart 8 Deluxe in particular and I always felt like it was quieter than the rest of the service, so I'm really happy that they added this. Hoping for Android Auto support next.

Another thing, they changed "Track information" to "Intellectual property notices", presumably due to all the comments about how strange it is for this to not include things like composer credits.

I had no expectation for them to ever actually add that stuff but this is a pretty clear sign that they aren't planning on it imo.

Seems that "Track information" was only really used in American English. Now I'm just wondering why NoA changed it to that in the first place lol

Will be careful not to unnecessarily create multiple posts in the future.

There is a (minor) new piece of news today, which is that the Pokémon Day section on the Home page has been replaced with a nearly identical Mario Day section (though it only features the Top tracks and Super Mario Selects playlists which is kinda lame).

Here's hoping they actually celebrate it this time and we get another great Mario OST... would love to see Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury (or the far less likely Paper Mario: The Origami King) make it on there next week.

There is probably more remixes in Smash of that theme then it existing in Zelda.
So there are 9 Version of the zelda Main theme in smash (not counting medlys)
And there are:
Zelda1
Zelda ALTTP
Zelda LA
Zelda OOA/OOS
Zelda OOA (Past)
Zelda MM
Zelda Mc
Zelda ALBW
Zelda ALBW (After MAster sword)
+ A Whole bunch of minor Uses both full and as small motifs

So at the very least its equal!
But still we really need the full theme Much more often!
Im fine with EOW only using it a bit as its Basically the link theme!

But like It Really shouldve shown up in More of the 3d games too!

It's interesting how the main theme has evolved in the series. It's basically become Link's theme and often used when Link does something cool. I think the earliest example is probably WW where it's used in the intro describing the feats of the Hero of Time. Majora's Mask is the only 3D game where it's used as a traditional over world theme, which is kinda ironic as it's the only 3D Zelda to not feature Hyrule.

I know its used in the opening of eow, at the start of eows overworld theme while zelda has to wear links cloack and when link saves zelds in totk!
Which im okay with however kirby showed you can use the main theme (in kirbys case green green) in those situation but also as normal background music!

Well im still happy they added a version of it!
Next version i wanna see is either albw or lar just so i can listen to the song without getting killed cause of the bleeps and bloops!

I'd like to see Termina Field next, because that would mean the Majora's Mask soundtrack is added and I absolutely adore that soundtrack

I have come to report an error that no one else but me will care about.

If you select a game, you can scroll down and see playlists associated with that game. If the game is from a series with other soundtracks on the app, you'll see those games listed in a row. For example, if you click on Super Mario Bros. 3, you'll see other Mario games. A lot of current entries don't have anything in that spot for the simple reason that it's the only game in its franchise on the app. For example, Golden Sun doesn't have that section, because it's the only Golden Sun game on the app.

Here's where the strange error comes in. The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past does not have this section, even though there are four other Zelda games on the app. And the other Zelda games don't link to A Link to the Past, even though they all link to each other.

I'm assuming this is just a small oversight but you'd think it'd be found by now.

Hadn't realized this wasn't mentioned here. While it may be an error, I think the more likely answer is that they've chosen to seperate 3D Zelda and 2D Zelda in this regard. It is a little strange to do especially when 2D and 3D Mario are grouped together, but generally the 2D Zelda games are more connected to one another than to the 3D games and vice versa.

A Staff Credits playlist has been added today. About time since those tend to be some of the best tracks ("Staff Credits (Booster Course Pass)" my beloved), and I've been using my own playlist for this up till now.

In other news, it's been found that they updated "Dr. Mario" to "Dr. Mario (Game Boy)", possibly suggesting that plans have been made to add the NES version. I'm unsure when the change happened but I can at least confirm it was after March 7th.

Double feature week:

The NES versions of Tetris and Dr. Mario

Edit: Wait it’s a triple feature as Game Boy Tetris is also here.

Finally, the first third party addition

Now bring in Mega Man and Pac-Man music. (from the games on Nintendo consoles from their respective franchises)

This isn't exactly third party. Nintendo owns some rights to these versions of Tetris.

Already mentioned in the other thread

If I had to guess Nintendo probably owns the specific remixes for the GB and NES versions of Tetris like how lot of 3rd party remixes in Smash say “Arrangement Copyright Nintendo”.

Final Fantasy is the only series in Smash with more then one remixed tracks where the IP holder (Square) owns all of the remixes rather then Nintendo. Street Fighter and Metal Gear only have two and one remixes owned by the original IP holder respectively.

It seems that both versions of Dr. Mario and both versions of Tetris do not link to each other.

It seems they may be forgetting to do that. Hopefully it's fixed soon (and A Link to the Past).

I'll fully admit.

I'm getting real sick of soundtracks of games that were made before I was even born.

A Spring playlist has been added, basically right when you'd expect (and almost exactly 3 months after the Winter one).

Was worried they'd hide or remove the Winter playlist once this happens but it's still in the "Match your mood" section on the home screen as usual.

Honest question.

I know Splatoon 3 and the Street Pass Mii Plaza are missing some tracks. Splatoon 3 is missing it's DLC and Street Pass is missing several games.

I also heard Animal Crossing: New Horizons is as well. I don't know that game at all. What tracks is it missing?

The tracks from the Happy Home Paradise DLC were never given a soundtrack release which is why they're missing. I dunno if there's any music that isn't specific to that DLC that's missing though.

Worth noting that technically StreetPass Mii Plaza is also missing specifically DLC. I'm not super familiar with it but my understanding is that the other games required being purchased.

The other StreetPass games did require purchases.

But this is strange, a lot of DLC that needs to be purchased is already in the app. I don't know why Splatoon 2 has everything but Splatoon 3 doesn't. At least the StreetPass games are other games.

Splatoon 3 only has music which was released in its first soundtrack, Splatune3. Most of the tracks not included there only received a release with December 2024's Ordertune soundtrack. With that kind of stuff it should be expected that Nintendo will wait at least a couple of months to try to maximize potential sales.

As for StreetPass, none of these tracks have recieved releases, so they'd all need brand new masters. I'm not sure exactly how many tracks StreetPass has in total, but I'm sure it'd be one of the largest on the app if they added everything. It's simply not really worth their while to put in all of that work just to release it all in a single drop.
