    3DS FC:

When a local community starts, it normally hosts some weeklies, boldly tries to host a regional, or just does it humbly with a group of friends playing in a house. Not many communities get blessings like Freehold, New Jersey.

Recently, a player under the name of Poopems started a streaming service called Master Hand Gaming.

“What do we mean by ‘streaming service’?” you may be asking. Well, the guys at MHG go from tourney to tourney volunteering to stream local tourneys. They provide the equipment, the platform, and the channel, all for the simple reason to highlight small tourneys and the whole Freehold community.

Poopems is currently working with Conti, whom he helped get equipment for the streaming service. Poopems is also currently working onhis own streamer’s desktop for top quality streams. Currently, MHG is looking forward to getting their own sub button as an initial goal for growing bigger.

In the words of Poopems himself, MHG’s goal is “to cover local gaming scenes and give gamers of all levels a platform to grow themselves and grow with a community of people just like them, people who enjoy video games as a medium for expressing themselves, socializing, and living”.

Currently, MHG is helping four tournament series across the New Jersey area: Ocean County Smash (which Conti runs), Coastal Waveshine Series, F-Air Game Series, and The Cell Games Weekly.

Master Hand Gaming, beyond being just some people who want to help, are actually TOs who are collaborating between each other, with Poopems being the one that unifies and coordinates their efforts towards spotlighting scenes. These TOs include OcS Conti, ECG Suzu, JS Singleserved, and LLDL, formerly known as Chain-Ace.

This collaboration goes beyond just spotlighting; in fact, they are currently working on an MHG tournament series called Game Changer, which is aiming to become a regional - and, at some point, national-level tournament series.

What do you think? What is your opinion on these community efforts? Be sure to follow, like, subscribe and catch Master Hand Gaming’s stream. And if you live in the New Jersey area, be sure to attend their events!

Well, there goes my dream of reviving the Tristate scene post-KTAR. It's already built.
Not like I had streaming equipment though... good on these guys.
Guess I gotta try one of these tournaments as a commentator then.

NJ is a big place and we are just a few people! I would ultimately like to unite NJ (and beyond) and have everyone working towards the bigger picture of the SMASH scene / e-sports everywhere. We grow everyday and invite anyone with any talents / ambition to build the scene with us to reach out! I make no promises, but I created MHG to sort of help anyone passionate about SMASH to a have a platform to "live the dream" (not RIP the dream!). There are so many possibilities and so many things that can be introduced to this scene (every scene).... At the very least, I can tell you with certainty that commentary is a massive weakness for us in our current state. So, any help we can get there would be rad!

This isn't really related to your post but have you had any smashers from the edison area, I've been having some trouble finding close places (I'm just trying to start competitive) and getting into contact would make things easier?

Hmm, Edison, Your by quite a good amount of stuff. Do you have a facebook? There's a few groups you might wanna join to keep updated on some local stuff depending on what games you play {I'll link you next reply if you want} (WiiU/Melee/ect), otherwise maybe check in the Atlantic North section of the tournaments hub.
As for local events, Nothing really in edison that I'm aware of but I know there are a few players from there [but can't remember who I'm sorry I meet too many people -.- ] I'm pretty sure you are close to a couple decent weeklies, LLDL's The Cell Games in Redbank being the closest possibly, I know there's The Nexus in union city, Bros Gone wild in islen, RJ's Smash4-ever Series that might be close by to you, you could travel to NY I know they also got stuff popping. I feel like I'm missing 2 events that might be close but I'm just guessing your trying to go for WiiU, there's different options for melee.

If you ever wanna checkout any of my events or events within the south/central NJ area you could also checkout Ocean County Smash Community (The Hub for my scene and for info on scenes within the area) on facebook aswell. https://www.facebook.com/groups/OCSmashBrosPlayers/

We run a weekly tournament for Smash 4, and biweekly for Melee at 8 on the Break in Dunellen, NJ... which is 12 minutes from Edison. I myself live in Edison.

The Break Weekly for Smash 4 is home to some pretty stiff competition though... and the Bi-Weekly for Melee is considered one of the toughest locals in NJ... so you should be warned.

Thanks so much guys, I had looked into a few facebook groups (p sure I requsted to join one and forgot to check lol), nexus was one I was really looking into but the one in dunellen sounds great. I honestly don't care about the difficulty, it'll just expose my weaknesses (probs a lot :3) quicker so I can get better quicker.
      Edit: I play smash 4.

How u doing guys WeirdEdz here and im also trying to make my way in the competitive scene and looking for locals. I probably will start checking out the ocean county area as I recently added conti on fb. I also wanted to start helping the community with streaming as i have my own decent setup and recently started streaming on twitch myself and have gained 300 followers in a short time! So i definitely can bring a crowd to the streams. Ive been running online tourneys and commentating matches with someone over skype so i have experience with commentating. If you guys need help im more than willing

There's one of the important ones I missed! xD My bad jaxel, so much to track these days and it was late when I made that reply! :D

Nah Central NJ is actually lit my friend. My biggest event ever happened in freehold [Nova Smash, 85 man event could of been 140 but I capped it with pre-regs, eventually this series will be back]

The Cell Games is right in central NJ, They havent had an under 30person turnout yet, 30-40 I think, They also do melee there on tuesdays :D

My event in Toms river area is Wednesdays if your interested aswell :p

Shoot poopems a msg, He might be interested! ^_^

75% says I can't go. I tried, but something came up... (actually nothing came up but I still can't go anyway, as much as I'd love to)
