Where people get NOTHING.
Not bad but Blood Lust is about the most generic name I can imagine.
I'll be super creative and spend more than 5 five minutes making names when I'm thinking of a name for my own band xD

That first video is a cover of If You Want Peace Prepare for War by Childeren of Bodom.
It's not the cover itself but how it's done that is amazing. Though the cover is pretty good as well.

Ya, those guys are really good. Song is pretty cool, except I think those solos are all pretty awful.

Feeling like listening to some Doom metal tonight, so I thought I'd share some of my favourites:

Evoken: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QirLzGg4yvY (Antithesis of Light)
Thergothon: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TC5OM-0KWO4 (Who Rides The Astral Wings)
Both are Funeral Doom, so you know what to expect: bleak, desolate athmosphere, slow tempo (no, you didn't? Never mind, give it a shot :) )

Earth: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qf648bEndkQ (Teeth of the Lion Rule the divine) Drone Doom. This is pretty much the worst tempo wise; these guys don't even have a drummer in their line up, no matter how slow you hit the drums, there will still be a distinct beat - and who could possibly want that? It took me a long while to understand the beauty behind their music (most people wouldn't even call it music :D), but well, nowadays I do appreciate their art =)

Oookay, time to move on to some more accessible stuff (really smart... start with the bands, which probably won't be enjoyed by more than a single digit number of people and then get to those, which might be worth checking out for a broader audience :D)

While Heaven Wept: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VDRQ3WrhSOM (the furthest shore) probably one of my favourite tracks of all genres.
Ixion: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bXgOa1OI0Q8 (the Plague) I was so sure this would be the best doom metal album in 2011, but then I learned While Heaven Wept were also releasing one... but if I were to chose one over the other, this would probably it. Especially since it's their first full length release.
Grand Magus: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3x_L2_K4awU (Ulvaskall (Vargr)) heavy / doom metal; and really amazing at it =)

I definitely don't like nu-metal.
It always seems like they really want to be heavy, but can't muster to do anything hardcore.

If SoaD is considered nu-metal, though....

._.
I don't even know what to think about it lmao
Doesn't seem like a cover for opeth - but more for like sonata arctica. Then again, I wouldn't mind if they're taking their sound in a different direction this time around.

Godsmack and Disturbed sound nothing alike though
Well, we have maaany subgenres in metal, and still each one covers a lot of stuff.
Technically, all of the following are black metal:

Woods of Desolation - Somehow (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zOkGyrw2_ZA)
Ruins - Satanic *****penetration (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q_473otftbE) best album title EVER :D
Burzum - Dunkelheit (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q_473otftbE)
Shining - Ren Djävla Angest (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B-kVg0mORXg)

and they "sound nothing alike", eh? :D

Disturbed is mostly traditional metal. Only nu metal album is sickness which is also their worst album.

Xyzz got any doom/death? I love that ****. Draconian is the business

Draconian actually has a new album coming out this month on the 24th iirc. Should be sweet, they have a really consistent discography so far.

Sol play Doom metal with certain death influences: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-OB5Lhd5Qhc
I'm not too sure, whether you'll like them, though.
Draconian is rather a melodic Death / Doom Metal band to me :D

I'm not really that much of a Death metal guy, though (I guess there's a single digit number of bands from that genre that I really enjoy listening to); so I doubt there's too much other stuff from that specific subgenre, that I can recoommend.

edit: just checked the wikipedia article, there's some really good bands which they'd label Doom / Death metal... I don't necessarily agree with the labeling, but some of the bands are really good, so you might check out whether they work for you:

Amorphis (I agree here, their early stuff is pretty much the marriage of Doom and Death metal. I have no clue how I could forget those, shame on me. )
Evoken. So TEXTBOOK funeral doom, same for Thergothon :)
My Dying Bride (early work. I see no real death influences, but well... whatever. Stay away from later productions, those are horrid)

I like Opeth whenever I hear them, but I never really want to put em on. I like Blackwater Park a lot though. Good album that one.

I found this band Journal. They are pretty awesome and unique.

If the rest of it is as good as their latest single Sudden Death, then it's going to be amazing.
Isn't it also apparently planned to be the band's final album?

Really? Thats cool, cause I never really got into them and my friend said the production is a little worse on the album.
I didn't notice but I haven't taken the time to get flac yet.

They decided to take a different approach and put emphasis on the guitars rather than the keyboard/vocal harmony. Lots of bass work too. Its like they jumped into prog territory and I'm really digging it.

That is good, because I am more into the prog side of power metal. I will give it a listen. I like a few of their songs, but unless I am really in the mood, they are often too cheesy for me.
