So? They are still a nu-metal band. They just do it in a way that doesn't instantly annoy fans of most other metal subgenres.

As for Periphery, never heard of the, They don't seem to bad at all, and I'm liking the different vocalists, but they don't seem like anything special.

Agalloch on the other hand have been one of those "why don't I already listen to you" bands that I have recently found.
I was just saying. I don't like the subgenre but they're a great band regardless.

^^ I never heard of this group before, but they are pretty cool. That song starts out pretty boring but it picks up about a minute in. Fun stuff.

this might not be anyone's fancy, but Rolo Tomassi's second album, Cosmology, has been out for a couple weeks. In typical Rolo fashion, it's definitely a grower. I hated it at first but now I keep coming back to it.

I like the old stuff (from the 80's) so my favorite band is metallica.

DREAM METAL BAND (in my opinion):

Drummer- Les binks (judas preist)

Singer- Ozzy Osborne (black sabbath, himself)

Guitarist- Dave Mustaine (megadeth)

Bass- Cliff Burton (Metallica)

What do you guys think of the new As I Lay Dying album The Powerless Rise. Honestly, at some points it sounds like Frail Worlds Collapse mixed with Ocean Between Us leads.

Agreed, although they still sound a little mainstream. But it's definitely better than An Ocean Between Us.
I can't stop listening to Upside Down Kingdom. Such a good song!

Holy fuuuuuuuuuuu

this reminds me, for some reason, of Darkest Hour back when they had Kris Norris on lead (solo starts at 2:15)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6VEaSsmGioU

while most DH fans disagree, this band isn't all that special without Kris Norris, even though he's only on two albums. So melodic, yet so intense.
I can agree with you there. Though I still feel they're great without him, those 2 albums were really their best by far lol.

I was thinking of things to make this thread more interesting....In my original posts I made a list of what I thought would be "The Perfect Band" if everybody could share there perfect band we could vote and make it real kind of like a dream team for this thread :D I'm gonna alter my original post and post it here

My Dream Band

Lead Guitar: Tosin Abasai (Animals as Leaders) / Jeff Loomis(Nevermore)
Drums: Mario Duplantier(Gojira)
Rhythm Guitar/Vocals (Devin Townsend)
Bass: Arif Mirabdolbaghi(Protest The Hero)

I guess this is a way of celebrating that we made it to page 32.

EDIT:
DEVIN TOWNSEND IS AMAZING

Didn't read anything else in the thread, but the OP instantly wins the universe for having Arif in their dream band.

Arif is the MK of bassists. You cannot defeat him.

Victor Wooten is my favorite bassist...favorite as in..most impressed by techincal skill with. =]
Vic Wooten is the king, but not because of technical skill (though he has that in truckloads). I saw him playing a show with just a drummer (who I can't for the life of me remember the name of but he was awesome), and he just played some of the most soulful and emotive music I'd ever heard. His creativity and improv skill is just ridiculous.

But, to have him in a metal band would just be...weird.
