Well, good Olimar's aren't as easy as you would think, but the matchup is ******** far in Luigi's favor. If you don't know what you're doing though you can find that a good Olimar will space you with those gay pivot grabs.

Basically the thing is, Olimar is a more capable character and has more options, but the fact of the matter is your moveset naturally beats his. What I do is jump around, land a nair and Uair olimar until hes at 45% then roll around and jab -> UpB. Dunno if you guys know but the jab upB combo is almost impossible for Olimar to get out of for some reason as long as you space the jab close enough for the UpB to connect.

By the way I play weruop whos like... one of the best olimars evar so I know what I'm talking about on this one.

Olimars are tricky, espically good ones THAT ADAPT because most olimars don't have luigi experience but if they adapt well, they can put up quite a fight. It's just knowing all about your options really.

Polmex taught me that if, you can beat Olimars, you can **** Snakes too. The vital thing IMO, is DONT BUFFER LIKE CRAZY, don't be fancy with your little dair airdodge buffer spam and keep it old school gangsta by walking. NEVER FEAR HIS PIKIMINS! I hate myself and a person crying for like 4 mins trying to approach because of a silly pikimin, same thing with Snake's nades.

Basically just know your options and his options, if you walk towards him including if hes pikimin spam unless he throws a purple which is PS-able, just walk pressure him to near the edge and his options are really reduced. All he has is basically a grab, pivot grab, crappy tilts (your jab covers this) or gtfo with jump/airdodge or hyphen smash, but most olimars will look for pivot grab, it's just really knowing his options and yours and predicting his is all.

I only tell myself I'm a virgin if l lose to a Olimar cus l shouldnt be lol

SNES, last 2 sets, ADHD vs. Ally. Most intense matches of the year, maybe even last year, too.

Yes. He 2-0'd M2K, then beat Ally in Grand Finals 3-2, then 3-1, iirc.

Olimar is a really stupid matchup. The entire time he'll be gay and try to grab everything you do, besides just camping you in general.

Something to keep in mind though, aside from the fact you can outprioritize moves not named Grab or up-B, If you catch him shielding, you can do an aerial on his shield (please don't use F-air), Jab, and the Jab will hit him before he can shieldgrab.

And Jab combos of course are ridiculous on Olimar.

Yeah, you need to be there for the next one. Pound 4 might have a stream, if it does, be sure to watch it.

Heyyy.

You know what's super cool?
Running, and immeditatly reversal b a fireball. You get slide as you fire ball. This messes up other players spacing pretty bad. They can't really get in. Its gay as Yoshi's retreating pivot grab, except with fire.
Maybe we could find a way to use this to ball lock across the stage as well? That's just theory craft though.

yup
It's as gay as Yoshi's pivot grab, except with fire, no guaranteed follow up, low priority, and no shield eating.

I use it a lot.

When I first suggested Dashing Fireball Reversals I was laughed at. You all said there's no point to it since it's easier to do out of a walk. But now it's cool? Shame on you. Shame on all of you.

*walks out and slams the door shut*

*peeks head back in* FOR SHAME!!! *slams door shut again*

I still think it's totally useless if it makes you feel better. I never use it unless I already killed the person and want to show off some "tech"

If the Snake jumps straight up, I just DI where it's easier to

I haven't made this into muscle memory, but don't forget to SDI/ASDI with the C-Stick too. I remember to use both the Analog and C-Stick sometimes, but I often forget (or am too lazy) to do quarter-circles with them...

Anyway, for the Machnado I go straight up since he can chase you sideways and it's difficult (or impossible) to escape downward. You may be able to punish with a Sex Bomb if you're able to avoid the last hit from the Machnado.

And for Snake, yeah I agree with everyone above: go through him instead of away. It's usually the opposite for everything else.

I won a tournament this weekend with about 38 people. We did pools, worked....sort of. We finished a little later. Used Marth about 5-6 times, then used Luigi for the other 20 matches or so I played.

I got 5th in dubs, but I had some nice DI for the few matches I used Luigi in dubs.

I also got 3rd in my first Melee tournament. But I still suck at it, no worries.
