The Lord of Grandbell: Sigurd
A Few Words From TamJammerz...
Hi, my name is TamJammerz. Back in the old NSider forums, I was known throughout the Smash Bros. Board as "The Great Analyzer" (courtesy of SS_Dan for coming up with the title).
Why did I come here? Well, I came to, once again, spread my analyses for fans of the Smash Bros. franchise... And people familiar with my analyses will also be in for some newer content. I'm now providing a lot more in-depth info, details, and crisper movelists to be coupled with my articles.
NOTE THAT THIS IS JUST A SMALL ANALYSIS ARTICLE IN MY SERIES OF MANY... THIS IS NOT A FULL BLOWN ANALYSIS OR A SUPPORT THREAD!!!
Where's the other parts? Right here, of course
1. Black Shadow
2. The Shining Fighter Robo: Ray 01
3. *The Lord of Grandbell: Sigurd*
Who is Sigurd?
Game/Franchise - Fire Emblem
Orientation - Good
Other Info - Wields the Tryfing, a magical blade. Father is Lord Byron and son is Celice.
Chances of being in Brawl as a playable character - 80%
Sigurd is the son of Lord Byron and a descendant of Baldo, one of the twelve Jugdral Crusaders. He eventually inherits the Tyrfing, Baldo's sword, from his father. Ethlin is his younger sister, and her marriage to Cuan of Lenster makes him his brother-in-law as well as his best friend.
Sigurd is the prince of Chalphy Castle of the Kingdom of Grandbell. He leads an invasion of Verdane when Aideen is kidnapped from Jungby Castle, during which he meets his wife, Diadora. He then leads an invasion and occupation of Augustria after his friend Eltosian is imprisoned there. During the occupation his son Celice is born. Sigurd is accused of treason against Grandbell and is forced to take refuge in Silesia. His son Celice takes over for him half way through the game, finishing what he started. Sigurd was well loved by many people of Jugdral continent.
Why should Sigurd be in Brawl?
There's a lot of controversy with this blue-haired lad. There are many valid arguments against his inclusion, and many that support him.
Apparentally, Sigurd was supposedly planned to be in the first Smash Bros. and Melee (I need confirmation for this), which would be a good reason for him to appear in Brawl. His Fire Emblem game was also arguablly the best one ever released. Sigurd is also the #1 most loved Lord in Japan, Ike coming in 2nd... This is basically a no contest here. If #2 made it in, #1 should be able to arise.
Fire Emblem: Seisen No Keifu was also Gunpei Yokoi's last game before he just recently died. Sigurd, along with Mr. Game and Watch, would both be good representatives to honor his creator.
Some say, though, that Sigurd has a lesser chance because of Ike's recolor, which looks like Sigurd. Although this has some slight impact on Sigurd's chances, it's not a big one.
Let's just hope that we'll get to see our Tyrfing-weilding blue-head square off against his Ragnell-weilding counterpart...
What would Sigurd be like in Brawl?
Taking a look at Sigurd, and you would probably guess that he is pretty fast. His speedy moves and nimble swordplay would serve him well to join the clash in Brawl!
Sigurd's Tyrfing wouldn't pound as much of a punch as Ike's Ragnell or Roy's Sword of Seals, but it is a lot lighter, which allows him to swing it with ease without any delay.
Overall Status
Power - 2.5/5 (The Tyrfing doesn't pack as much punch as Ragnell, but it can still put up a good fight)
Range - 3.5/5 (The Tyrfing acts as an extension of Sigurd's arm, allowing him to put some space between him and the competition)
Attacking Speed - 4/5 (The Tyrfing is a light sword, so Sigurd doesn't have a problem swinging it)
Running Speed - 3.5/5 (Sigurd's light sword allows him to flow gracefully through battles)
Jumping - 3/5 (... Yeah, he can jump...)
Height - 3/5 (Medium)
Weight - 3/5 (Medium)
Sigurd's movelist is somewhat based off of traditional English fencing.
Movelist
Visuals
Opening Appearance - Sigurd warps via a yellow light.
Normal Stance - Sigurd rocks back and forth, bouncing on his feet. He holds Tyrfing in his right hand facing forward, and places his left hand on his scabbard. Resembles a fencing stance.
Slow Walk - Sigurd walks steadily forward.
Fast Walk - Sigurd starts speeding up, rocking back and forth as he walks.
Dash - Sigurd sprints forward, holding Tyrfing back by his waist.
Jump - ... He jumps.
Midair Jump - Sigurd performs a somersault.
Shield - Sigurd holds Tyrfing in front of him in a blocking stance.
Taunt 1 - Sigurd sheathes his sword and strokes his hair.
Taunt 2 - Sigurd twirls Tyrfing and strokes it down by his side.
Taunt 3 - Sigurd plants Tyrfing into the ground, leans on the hilt and sighs.
Normal Attacks
A, A, A... - Sigurd performs a downward diagonal slash to the left, a spinning horizontal slash to the right, followed by holding his sword in a reverse handle postion and stabbing repeatedly.
Dash A - Sigurd performs a spinning slash followed by a lunging thrust.
Strong A (Side) - A wide, diagonal slash upward to the right.
Strong A (Down) - A quick low kick.
Strong A (Up) - An arcing slash upwards.
Smash A (Side) - Sigurd performs a lunging thrust forward followed by a spinning downward vertical slash.
Smash A (Down) - Sigurd performs a sweeping slash forward and a sweeping kick backwards.
Smash A (Up) - Sigurd performs two powerful slashes upwards.
Aerial Attacks
A - Sigurd performs two kicks.
Smash A (Front) - Sigurd performs three stabs forward.
Smash A (Back) - A mule kick to the back.
Smash A (Down) - Sigurd flips downward and slashes in an arcing motion.
Smash A (Up) - Sigurd stabs straight up.
Grabs
Z - A lapel grab with the left hand.
A (Grabbing) - Sigurd beats on the opponent with the butt of Tyrfing's hilt.
Front - Sigurd rushes the enemy with his shoulder.
Back - Sigurd directs the enemy behind him with his sword and performs a twirling slash.
Down - Sigurd throws the enemy downward and performs a knee dive into their chest.
Up - Sigurd simply throws the enemy up.
Special Attacks
B: Scion Slash - This attack is chargeable. When released, Sigurd will slash up to 5 times (depending on how long you charged up). Coupled with each slash is a blast of blue energy that shoots out of the blade, each one taking a simlar form to how Sigurd swung Tyrfing. Minimal charge results in one slash, whereas more charge creates more slashes.
Smash B: Wind Dash - Sigurd dashes forward while slashing through enemies and performs a powerful jumping slash upwards at the end of the dash.
Down B: Counter - Sigurd goes into a parrying stance. While in this stance, any attack that strikes Sigurd will be deflected by Sigurd and he will counter with a slash.
Up B: Aero Divide - Sigurd performs two slashes upward, each one propellng him higher up into the air, followed by a final slash that propels him far up.
Final Smash: Break - Sigurd holds his sword up high and the game will go at half speed. Sigurd goes at full speed, though. While in this state, Sigurd can damage enemies, and their reactions to the attacks are run at half speed, which means that Sigurd can perform multiple attacks at a time without the enemy getting knocked back very far. After about 15 seconds in this state, the game will run at normal speed again. You have full control over Sigurd in this period of time.

Not that known, but I hope you have a better understanding of this deserving candidate
