Lol, we are not as bad as you would think. I just went super saiyan this morning and the matches were very close in general. Heck, I beat everyone wih some legit comboes a few times, except the beast that is Ryoko (not counting when TH and I were in teams). You did happen to see some of my worse matches. At least JCz got a very awesome vid of me doing some epic shield pressure combo. Wait for it, XD. I was worried at first, but I could generally keep up while admtedly still having some to learn. But that weekend was like a powerlevel for me. JCz said I made Lucario look legit, so I am a bit more confident. As for Player 2, he is not a competitive smasher, nor does he intend to be, so please cut him some slack. He still travelled all the way to the US just to attend that fest, that is some dedication.

I am at a hotel right now and just got back from the ubber smash fest. I had the fun of a lifetime here and will definitely try to come back. Thank you, JCz, TH, cmart and everyone else for taking such good care of us. And thank you Ryoko for helping us figure out the metro (I just turned gay for Ryoko <3). And GHneko, I will mail you some poutine mix when I have a minute, . If any of you ever comes to Quebec, we will take care of all of your shelter needs and drive you everywhere you need. I consider you all friends and that is the least I could do.

We took a 13 hours train ride from Quebec to get there, but man oh man, was it worth it. Lots of gaming, (though the next day, I had a case of flaming Wario down B and it was painful). We even got soem Guilty Gears going, some Contra, Bomberman, etc...

I definitely want to come back. The laughter alone was worth it.

And my own, in singles results order because it's convenient:

1: Ryoko - Ugh so good with those kicks. I feel myself getting better when I play you though. Thanks for helping me upgrade my Wii.
2: JCaesar - Third 2nd placing in a row at P:M tourneys. I'd like to personally thank my gyro for always being there for me. I should never captain a crew battle though.
3: CTL - Your Yoshi is scary. I think with some more time with him you'd be ****** us all. And you don't even kill yourself that much with him!
4: GuruKid - Maaaan why you gotta live so far away? Sucks I probably won't see you at Apex Oh and congratulations on making Lucas the most hated character in P:M. I was sure Wario would earn that spot.
5: cmart - The Legion...
5: Thunderhorse - ...is getting amazing!
7: Yeroc - Let us know any time you wanna come up! Mad fun hanging out this weekend. And such a tricky ZSS.
7: Glick - Glad you managed to make it this weekend! Hope to see you more often. Pikachuuuu
9: Neko - You got noticeably better over the weekend. Come up more often (but leave your Wii at home cause your music is whack).
9: Vigilante Blade - So awesome meeting you in person man! You kicked BWW's ***, and then TH's toilet's ***. And you've got some sick combos with Lucario. Keep practicing with Kage if you can and you'll get really good.
9: BigWenz - Shame you couldn't stick around for BWW. Vigilante could have been a serious Blazin challenger for you.
9: quinnydinny - Glad you came by. I'm really hyped for our game.
13: Player 2 - Contra buddy! I'm glad someone else there was competent at Contra, even if it was the SNES one. If you ever come back down this way, I'll practice my Contra III so we can kick that game's ***.
13: Kirisami - I saw you practicing in training mode. Your Ike looks like it could become super legit from some of the things you were doing.

Fun tourneys and crew battles all around. I hope we can get together again at some point. Hopefully cmart and I will have our own place soon where we can hold these things.

idk i'm not afraid so much of ryoko's sheik/zelda/peach so much because i know how those characters work, but god his ZSS is terrifying. i don't think i would have beaten his ZSS in a bracket anyway.

Just an update for all those who are interested in helping with the game.

I am most likely going to be switching the game over to use SFML or SDL for the media layer and C++ as the main language. There is a chance I will stay with the java engine

I will be putting together a resource page by the end of this weekend that will point to some good tutorials for the languages and libraries we will be using. Most likely will do some game descriptions write ups as well.

Anyway, going to be kicking it up to high gear! Get Hyped!

Actual shoutouts! SHOUTOUTS! In order of friendlies, then tourney bracket.

Friendlies–
Vigilante: I am still very amazed at the way you hold your controller. I mean, the directions would only take some getting used to, but it must feel awkward to hold it the way it wasn't designed for. You'd beat us all in a backwards controller match.
Kiri: I only got a few random character friendlies with you. I also saw you listen to 東方 music. I hope you'll be around for another one of these fests.
QD: Yeah SDing! To beat my Falcon, all you have to do is live!

Tourney matches– Every single one of you had really close matches. It could have gone either way in any of these (except Ryoko when I'm Falcon –I die fast).
GHNeko: Glad to play you again, considering our Pound 5 friendlies wasn't really much. I'm always really nervous first round; glad I didn't play Falcon!
TH: Falco is ridiculously difficult for Yoshi (in Melee it's almost impossible). When you start having a strategy to beat mine, I might have to find a third character... You'll get me next time!
cmart: Forcing me to bring out Falcon due to your characters eating Yoshi's double jump.
Ryoko: I have much better luck with your cheap tactics as Yoshi. You're really good at finding weaknesses in my limited-dimensional Falcon, as if I don't get some really disgusting 0-death combo like that match on Warioware, you catch me in many attempted approaches. I'll find a way to win with Falcon eventually.
JC: That first Falcon match. Won't say anything else. OK fine; I enjoyed testing out the changes in Yoshi, most of the things I noticed were really nice, especially the faster grab. I still prefer if parrying was around, the egg roll cancel I haven't really experimented with, and… that ledge grab range. As much as I like Yoshi, that ledge grab is ridiculous. Well, so are most others, so I guess it's a general issue.

Yeroc/P2/Guru/Glick: Next time, it'll have to be.

All in all, I had a blast spending that much time smashing with so many cool people. I wish I could have stayed later. Thanks again to everybody for being awesome, it really made the trip worthwhile. I feel like in addition to having a good time, we all learned a lot of smash this weekend, and that's good for each of us personally and for the project as a whole. Awesome stuff again, thanks to everybody who made this weekend truly memorable.

You already have a third character that can beat me singlehandedly every time...Jigglypuff.

Yoshi is mostly a strangeness issue since I never play anyone competent with him in any version of smash. I have a distinct feeling that once I wrap my head around what Yoshi can do, you'd be better off going with Falcon. Honestly your Falcon is your best character (even though your Yoshi is supremely baller and original) and can almost guaranteed 0-death me while I'm only just learning how to 0-death fast fallers like Fox and CF.

I can't make it this Saturday, still have to stick nearby the house until my parents return. They come back next Tuesday but I have to leave with Adam for California the next day and won't be back till the week after. After then I can do something though provided my wallet isn't too shot from Blizzcon.

Also I forgot to mention an extra special thanks for keeping the house relatively clean. Most of what I had to clean up was very minimal and not really that time-consuming. TBH I was a little worried about the state of the house during Sunday (not really damages to the house itself, just in terms of what I'd have to do to get it spick and span again), but you guys really stepped up and it only took less than an hour to clean up everything that wasn't already clean. <3 you guys.

I've played a lot of RPGs and my favorite game(s) are Fire Emblem for the GC and Wii. Path of Radiance and Radiant Dawn respectively. Do both games in normal mode and come back.

I don't like strategy RPGs, so I've never played a Fire Emblem game. I'd like to play Tales of Symphonia someday as I've heard mostly good things about it. However, when I finish Xenoblade I'm probably gonna start over with New Game + right away because it's just that good, so my RPG quota is full for a while.

lololololol. Nintendo clearly doesn't want me to buy this game. You can't even play an imported copy unless you hack your Wii or buy a PAL one.

ToS is bizarre in that it's an rpg with a lackluster story (imo) but a totally baller and addictive battle system that keep you coming back to it. I initially hated most of the cast, but they eventually grew on me - I'm not sure if you'd be into it or not since it's kind of a sum of the parts experience.

Well I kind of felt the same way about DQ9. It had a pretty lackluster story (at least for a main line DQ game) but its battle system is pretty much the pinnacle of turn-based RPG combat (which multiplayer makes even more fun) and it's definitely one of my top 5 RPGs of all time.

Well if tactics RPGs count... keep in mind I greatly favor Nintendo hardware tho, so I missed out on a lot of the great ps1/2 era rpgs.

1) Tales of Symphonia
2) Skies of Arcadia (want more rpgs with ship-to-ship combat)
3) Chrono Trigger
4) FE: Path of Radiance (the pinnacle of classic FE design - all the ones after have started pushing the series in new directions, but also introducing flaws : \ )
5) Super Mario RPG (if only for playable Bowser for like, the first time ever)
