Twitch’s Holiday Bash Smash Invitational marked the final Super Smash Bros. Melee major tournament of 2017. 14 of the world’s best Melee players were invited to this highly competitive invitational, and spectators were treated to plenty of exciting and explosive matches from Friday to Sunday night.

The champion of the invitational was Jack “Crush” Hoyt, making a tournament comeback through his strong performance in the Loser’s Bracket. Crush was sent to Loser’s Bracket by Edgard “n0ne” Sheleby, but he would defeat n0ne later in an incredibly close 3-2 set exclusively played on Battlefield, placing n0ne in 3rd place.

Crush then double eliminated 2nd place player Zachary “SFAT” Cordoni in a series of dominating Fox ditto matches, winning the tournament after going 3-0 and 3-1 in their respective sets.

Meanwhile in the Loser’s Bracket, DaJuan “Shroomed” McDaniel held on for several close 3-2 sets against James “Duck” Ma and Kevin “PewPewU” Toy, before losing to Crush and ending his run in 4th place.

Joining PewPewU in 5th place was Arjun “lloD” Malhotra, who surprised everyone with his dominant 3-1 Loser’s Bracket win as Peach against Weston “Westballz” Dennis. This set knocked Westballz out of the tournament in the first round.

Here are the Top 8 placements from Sunday’s double elimination bracket:
