0:53 against leffen... weird shadow ball :/
vs Andriod I noticed that early in the match you would backair every time you SS into shield...I noticed it doesn't provide much shield pressure. Zwarm outlined a technique where you could flick the control stick in the opposite direction of the SS and end up right next to the character, which might be a good set up for an up/down smash. I'm extremely guilty of the backair against shield and there might be better options.

Zwarm, I just wanted to say your video is fantastic. I've watched it probably about 4 or 5 times and spent the good portion of the day practicing all of the different techniques in the video. I wish there was a little more time to discuss MUs but I realize there was a time constraint. Again thank you so much for the video, it has and will continue to serve as a great resource for anybody who wants to play this character.
Thank you :)

I'm happy with even one person learning something from my ramblings

I thought it was really good as well, thanks.

One thing you mentioned a couple times is something I wanted to get other opinions about, and that is how if people know how squirtle works he becomes a lot less effective. A lot of squirtles power seems to come from confusing mobility and once players know the options to deal with them (you mentioned CC on withdraw, teching bubble knockdown, anticipating the aerials or slide smashes out of shellshifts), it seems like he won't be as effective. In this light do you think squirtle is a character who requires secondary characters to cover his weaknesses, or even more concerning is he a character who will fall off completely if he ever gets popular and thus "figured out"?

Honestly, I think a good amount of characters need a secondary with how many matchups there are out there, most of the characters in this game sans top 5-6 need a secondary.

With that said, Squirtle has a lot of potential that I think hasn't been tapped yet, and you can mix up a lot of Squirtle's options to make your opponent have to keep guessing

More of what I meant was that if you don't know what Squirtle is capable of, you're gonna get run over, where the Squirtle player has to play a lot smarter when his opponent knows what Squirtle can dish out

I went to a house tournament this weekend and got some stuff recorded. I got second in singles and doubles lol.

So far the only set that's been uploaded was my winner's finals set. I'll post the rest when they get uploaded, which will hopefully be tonight.

Quality isn't great but it's better than nothing.

pls ignore all my stupid mistakes

Wow, your Squirtle is very good, your movement and mixups are on point! This video gave me hope and inspiration on how I can control Squirtle on stage. Your combos were pretty solid too, and nice usage of most of his moveset. I saw you use every move Squirtle has and it hit at least once!

The things I saw you can work on is your DI. Tbh, it was really bad vs Marth's Fsmash, which was LITERALLY the only thing he killed you with. I know Marth's Fsmash is really good in PM & hard to DI at times because it's fast, but definitely go into training mode and practice your DI vs that move. Hold up, and diagonally in the opposite direction that it hits you in. If you didn't die to F-Smash so early, you would have destroyed this Marth.

Another thing that I rarely saw was grabs, I think you could utilize those more, but other than that your gameplay is pretty solid, the most out of any Squirtle's I've seen recently.

I get tourney jitters real bad. All my mistakes were pretty avoidable. Thanks for the compliments though.

Overall I had a lot of fun at this tournament but damn I did some dumb stuff. At least it was recorded and I can learn from it though. :007:
Shoutouts to very drunk commentators, and the balloons on Smashville.

I think I'm the new worst squirtle with the 3.5 update. I am having to change my strategy a lot cause the updated pooped on his movement tequniques (mostly withdraw)

Jesus you move so fluidly, I can't wait to be able to do that sort of stuff >.<
Will anyone be doing some tips and tricks to squirtle movement in 3.5?

Pretty solid overall, but I think you withdraw too much and don't grab quite enough. Also, I think you nair too much in the neutral. Nair's a good option, but I just don't think you can convert well enough off of it.

Also, I wouldn't take Fox to Wario Ware personally.

Oh, and you should look for more AJ setups. I saw a couple that you coulda gone for but didn't.

Huzzah! Daftatt's glorious squirtle is here in video form! I got a recording from my weekly of Grand Finals, which I was coming from losers bracket into and won, though the Peach player had already beaten me when they knocked me down to losers. I've been working A LOT on my squirtle so there is a chance to see new stuff you haven't seen done before with squirtle in the 2-sets.

Warning Commentary is legendarily bad and audio desyncs, may as well mute it

So I'm bad at this game, and still new to squirtle. There doesn't seem to be many vids that exist, so other than some basic movement stuff I have a hard time finding guides. Can anyone hardcore critique my vids? Thanks :) This is one of only guys in my community that can beat me in PM (small area, NMU, represent), so I figure these two vids are best to ask to be critiqued. The other guy I don't have any squirtle vids for, but I'll work on getting them in the future (he's a ness main).
