The Ganondorf Weapon Debate

I may be wrong, but isn't Ganondorf's weapons very inconsistent throughout most games? As humanoid Ganondorf, he wielded tridents, swords (single or dual), etc. Even his beast/demon/really ugly but awesome Ganon form has been using a few types of weapons. I think the trident was one of the first weapons he (beast form) used, but I know for sure he used dual swords for Orcania of Time. Anyways... with Link and Zelda already animated in the Twilight Princess style, it is most likely he will as well. That means he would be using his huge two hander sometimes glowing sword.

As for his move set, I personally would like most of his old melee attacks with some sword and dark magic attacks. His aerials were amazing and just plain well Ganny. However, I don't see this very likely, as that they probably want him to have a new move set from being too Captain Falcon-ish (Sakurai and his no clone move set statement declaration?) Either way, I'm fine with whatever the Sora team does with him as long he doesn't become a "luigifed" Ike. Oh, and give him his badass jab. With the electric shock.

But that would be too similar too Ike :ohwell:
I think Sakurai's team should or should have designed a new sword for Ganondorf, seeing how it is always inconsistent..

Ganondorf should use his sword like a mace or something like this. He should keep his brutal strength so using his sword like that would be amazing.

He needs his dark magic for his special moves, but his Up B is OK even for a decloned Ganondorf.

And, although he should use his sword for some attacks, he should use his fists too; maybe in his standard A attack and his aerials.

And OoT Ganon but with TP design for his FS. Huge demonic pigs FTW.

Or even, better a proper mace! Ball and chain, a club, any heavy weapon like that could be fun.

Ganondorf should still be a close combat type of fighter, but he should use his sword more frequently. For his Final Smash, Ganondorf becomes Ganon and runs through everyone.

As much as I would like to see Ganondorf with a sword, I think it'd be good if he had his trident instead because there are already a lot of sword characters, and he'd add a pole arm like weapon into the game for variety. If Krystal gets into brawl, that'd be good if she had her staff so both Ganondorf and her would both be long-ranged polearm users.

But Ganondorf should be able to switch modes between fits/kicks and the trident. He shouldn't use a sword most of the time but he should use a trident, fists and kicks, and dark magic. However, when he is in 'fist' mode for his basic smash attack he should pull out his large sword out of thin air and smash it causing massive knockback but other than that he shouldn't use his sword except for his basic smash attack. Instead he should use fists/kicking, dark magic, and his trident.

Well, so far Iv'e read a few really cool ideas.

1. Sword - However he was gonna be in melee, should transfer to brawl. (I have no idea how he would've fought in melee if they had completed him, and I doubt any of you do). If they just made him a pure sword user I wouldn't complain. I love the sword users.

2.a. Hand Sword - Some people think he should punch and slash with physical attacks, and using his magics for B being just some other moves. Well, if i had a giant sword I don't think I'd be using my fists much. So, I don't like this idea at all :(

2.b. Hand Sword - I read of one suggestion of having him being able to alternate move-sets of sword and hand. Like transforming for Zelda/Shiek or swhitching Pokemon for the pokemon trainer. GREAT IDEA

3. Trident - Using his trident from previouse game A Link to the Pasr. for him to fight as a pole arm would make his fighting style most unique. Plus you could have the trident eminate his magical attacks as well. GREAT IDEA

But heres mi idea, how about DUAL WIELDING? With sword and trident?
Using both weapons to deal damage when using regular and special attacks, not isolating either weapon for particular attacks.

What was that? More?

Well what else can I provide? I've already stated my opinion...

A moveset you say? well, I'm glad you asked!

Here's his physical structure, Sword in right, Trident in left. His stance is with his right side towards his enemy, his sword to be held low and almost parallel to the ground, and the trident raised with his left arm in a position ready for stabbing.

A - A slash with his sword from right to left
AA - He brings his swrod back from the previouse slash to perform another slash from left to right(backhanded), and the trident swipes from left to right immidiately following the sword but with elecro/paralysis affect (something like pickachu's B attack)
AAA - While his trident is still in followthrough on his right side, he brings his sword to his left side underneath the arm holding the trident (this parts not an attack, just setting up for one), then he does a double slash with the trident and sword returning to their original positions as a scissor motion.
Dash A - Double Simultaneous Stab I suppose.

Pretty cool right? Hold on, it gets better.

fA - He does a quick and weak swipe skyward, then steps forward with his left foot and does a powerful stab with the trident which shocks and then releases a ton of damage forcing you backwards with a lot of force (like C.Falcon's fAir Thunder-knee attack, but not THAT strong).

SfA - he brings both the trident and the sword back behind him as far as he can then does a vertical slash downward in about 135 degrees. 45 behind, and 90 in front. lots of range I know, be he's goung to be a slow character right? He's gotta have some good points for his attacks besides power right? Maybe increasing his range the more its charged?

fAir - He Stabs alternatingly with both weapons (Like Fox and Falco's fAir) every 2/3rds of a second maybe? Maybe you can slightly angle the direction of this move?

dA - Just stabs at his opponents ankles with both sword and trident. Lots of range.

SdA - He brings the sword and trident up, crossing them in an "X" at his chest as he charges, and brings them back down hitting the ground, sword in front, and trident in back. The sword makes an explosion like Melee Samus's dA, and the trident does dark damage like Melee Mewtwo's SdA.

dAir - I'd just keep his old thunder stomp from Melee, but I guess if he's getting all these new moves, that one should go too. I guess this move would go like Samus' or Mewtwo's dAir where they flip upsidown and attack. He could cross his arms as he flips over and bring them back into their side positions after a double down slash and flip back over to land on his feet.

uA - Regular up swipe with his sword.

SuA - He stabs the air above him with his trident, like Melee Marth's SuA.

uAir - I had about 3 ideas for this one
1. He holds one or both of his weapons upward like Links uAir, and hits for a lot of
damage.
2. He keeps his old uAir from Melee, same as C.Falcon's.
3. He does a kick like Fox's or Falco's uAir (Not so powerful, but similar style)
I think my 2nd and 3rd idea would make it reasonable for Ganondorf to keep his
thunderstomp dAir attack(From Melee)

B - He brings his trident in front of him and looks at it as a ball of darkness grows at the tip of the middle spike. When the ball reaches Maximum capacity, it retreats into the 3 forks of the trident and is saved for later as red lighting crawling around the head of the trident. When he releases it, the large sphere re-appears in full size, and he strikes it with his sword. But before he strikes, there is a delay maybe half to a quarter second long. You can point the directional stick to have him hit the sphere differently to aim the direction of the Ball of doom! If you don't aim he'll just hit it forward.

Voice from the audience: "Aren't you just copying a Samus move then?"

NO! ...well, it'll be like Samus' B attack, but I'm not putting this in here just because I
like Samus (I actually don't like Samus in the Smash titles, I doubt I ever will), but
because Ganondorf has used this type of move in previous games right? I remember
reading a comment earlier about that and thought of LoZ:WW when you fight the fake
Ganondorf at the prison. He does that too! So, if anything, blame nintendo for the
move's similarities! (JK nintendo, I'm sure it was probably just a coincidinc).

fB - He brings his sword and trident together and points them at the ground and then pull them appart in a fast swipe raising them above his shoulders, leaving a dark wave like slash on the ground that travels forward like kirby's uB when he lands on the ground (that thing that comes out of kirby's slash and moves forward).

dB - He has his trident do a vertical flip around his bicep and tricep, leaving a trail of glowing red ligh following the head of the trident then forming a circle around his body. This is to counter attacks, very similar to Melee Marth's dB. While in the air, he does the same thing but the slash forms a black rotating "X" which is fired in a forward/down direction.

uB - He clashes the 2 weapons together below him causing a tremendous explosion, propelling him upward (Doing damage to himself maybe?). You can lean the Joystick forward or back to make an angle to this flight path as well. During his flight after the explosion, he holds the sword and trident at his sides almost like they were wings, and if the wings hit you, then you take damage. (the explosion causes damage to nearby opponents as well if you didn't guess that already).

almost forgot...

Voice from audience:"If he's hold a sword and a trident, how would he grab people and onto ledges?"

EASY! actually my solution is pretty quickly thought of, not too much thought into this. (if a better idea comes to mind, let me know).
He'll toss either one between his teeth during the grab and after the throw, he'll grab the weapon out of his mouth. Same as if he's grabbing a ledge, he'll just quickly grab it out of his mouth as he attacks/rolls/jumps backs onto the field.

so, ya, If anyone actually read all that, I hope you liked it. And remember Thunderstomp...dAir to dream!

I think he needs to set himself apart and be a heavy dual sword user with a magical component.

I must say I like him using his fists but I think the magic is a no brainer but I cant decide whether he uses fists or sword, pity he cant have two movesets that you can change by pressing a button

I'd have to say if Ganondorf was in, he would absolutely 100% assuredly be Twilight Princess style. Why? Because Link and Zelda both are in the Twilight Princess style. How weird would it be if Ganondorf was the Ocarina of Time version? ^ ~
Saying this the weapon that Ganondorf would wield would most likely be one that was used by him in the Twilight Princess game.
I really hope that if hes in his moveset/fighting style is changed. This is what I consider to be the biggest flaw in Melee; all of the other clones have a relation to one another (Roy>Marth, Mario>Luigi, etc.), but what the hell were they thinking when they cloned Ganondorf from Captain Falcon!? I had a respect for Ganondorf before I had unlocked him in Melee, now many of the people I smash with refer to him as MJ (Michael Jackson, UpB).
^ ^;; Sorry that really got off topic, but anyway I hope that Ganondorf gets the moveset and weapons he deserves in Brawl, and I hope that you all feel the same way.
