Curious to know how it'll work out for you.

What's your reasoning behind it?
I've tried just dieting, and I've tried just exercising. Neither worked in the long term, because my body got used to it. I didn't have the discipline to do both until a 4-5 months ago. But as of 3 weeks, I have not been exercising as much as I should. It's so easy just to let it go and do nothing... I'm so lazy that it's sad.

I haven't gained weight, but I don't want to stop losing now. I hope that with this diet, my body won't get used to it so I will continue to lose weight. I have really low self esteem, and I hate myself for becoming what I am today.

Also, this:
511d3832afa96f0926000003.jpg

It's funny because it's true, but it's kind of sad, lol.

In other news, I started my 5th day today. It has not been as hard as I thought. I just managed to keep myself full with water most of the time. I've only eaten 410 calories so far, so I can afford to eat a yogurt about right now. Here I come, Yoplait.

Every time I try to research the effects of artificial sugars on the human body, the negative effects are always inconclusive. I haven' found any hard evidence to support that they are unhealthy for you.

But then I think, "Well, it is artificial and cannot be broken down." Sure it helps in that it keeps the sweet taste without the calories, but I'm wary about the long-term use of such additives. I don't know what to do.

I remember watching a tv series a little while ago that studied the effect of artificial sweeteners (not sure if stevia falls under this category), but from what I understood, sugar = energy for the body, and after tasting sugar, the body expects a boost of energy etc.

When you have artificial sweetners, you are getting the taste, but not the energy and so the body goes craving for it, which often means you end up eating more elsewhere anyway. So you end up eating more calories at the end of it because the body is not satisfied. The most obvious example here is diet soda's etc.

I've had a couple of friends go on the 5-2 diet (I think it's called?) and it seems to be working for them. I love food, so I'd rather exercise. Haha.

Raw celery I've heard is one of those foods that the body spends more calories digesting then it gets from the vegetable itself. Not sure how true this is, but regardless, it's pretty low in calories too.

Oh, I love food, too. Don't get me wrong. It has been really tough regulating what I eat after years of overindulging and gluttony.

Sorry for my stupid sob story. I know you guys and gals don't want to hear that, so I'll ask a question. What is everyone's favorite food and/or drink?

Favorite ingredients / foodstuffs are Cantaloupe Melon, Strawberry, Cherry, Walnut, Garlic and Ginger but the list of ingredients I like is really long and includes most vegetal products. Meat is for fascists.

Favorite drink is white tea flavored with vanilla and peach. It has a very mellow taste and gives you the same relaxing feeling as a slight shot of weed. It's awesome.

I just got a pretty spacious countertop oven recently which is now situated on top of my mini fridge in my room. It might be odd to be baking casseroles, cookies, frozen pizzas, etc. in my own room 5 feet away from the computer but I'm loving it.

Marinated some chicken in Italian dressing and added assorted spices for flavor. Also made mashed potatoes and cream corn topping.

Is there such thing as one's body "getting used to it"? I've never heard anything like that regarding weight loss. Hitting plateaus is another thing. Unless you have a medical condition in which you're unable to properly follow a diet/exercise regime, it comes down to calories in/calories out mostly. From your post I take you're overweight and want to lose weight? Sounds like you need determination. In my opinion resorting to fasting diets could lead you to binging if you're struggling to lose weight, just put it together and start exercising again! You don't need to restrict yourself like that.

When I said "getting used to it," I mean that my body adjusted to what I was doing. If I starved myself, by body would store what it could get so I didn't lose weight.

I don't think I have a medical condition. My mother has hypothyroidism, so I might have something wrong with my thyroid, but I like to think I am just a lazy ass when it comes to exercising - I'm not working hard enough.

I'm slightly overweight. For my height, I should be around 165 lbs. Currently I'm 180 lbs, but that's a hell of a lot better than where I started in early June - 205 lbs. I'm not going to try fasting again. I couldn't keep that diet going, even if it was only 1 day of fasting. It just sucked. I just wish exercising came easier to me. I've started and stopped so many times.

Liquid nitrogen ice-cream is awesome

I tried 'Cronuts' for the first time

I made beef salpicao at a Filipino potluck dinner, where we had a whole suckling pig. YUM.

Checked out a place that does raw, vegan, organic chocolates

Made curry at another potluck dinner

And attempted making baked eggs at home, which came out pretty well

Discovered how awesome fried Korean chicken is

And was given 10 of these to try.

And jaffa doughnuts. Fresh from the fryer, heaveeeeen!

Something I whipped together quickly tonight because I was just really hungry:

Grilled cheese sloppy egg fat man (or woman, in my case) sandwich!

Made like a grilled cheese, but different! Take two eggs and fry them things in olive oil! Then you get to frying the grilled cheese! Butter? Who has time for that?! Take some fat-inducing, artery-clogging mayonnaise and spread it on the bread and fry 'em on the pan (bonus points if there's still oil in the pan)! Place a slice of white cheese, then a slice of Velveeta mac & cheese, well, cheese, then place the oily fried sunnyside up unborn chicken "fetus" on top, and then another slice of white cheese! What kind of white cheese? Who cares! Get some dairy in there! Oh, but you're not done after that, because you're gonna fry two more eggs in the same way as the previous two and place them on top of the already-constructed sandwich, because we can't get anymore of that yolky goodness! This sandwich is so fat, even Snorlax is like, "yeah, well **** that"! Here is the end result:

"It's not healthy! You'll get fat! It'll clog your arter..." you think I'm a girl who cares?! I make my food and eat it how I want! This isn't your mom's grilled cheese! This is grilled cheese for badasses who don't care for health, and want to "YOLO" in the kitchen!

Okay, in all seriousness though, the sandwich turned out really good, and was as cheesy and as eggy as I had imagined it'd be, even if it wasn't exactly health-conscious.

P.S. Don't mind the bottle of Febreeze in the background. I promise it wasn't my beverage. I drank water.

Some of the stuff I took pics of while SWF was down XD

Here's some zucchini and chicken, sauteed using that marinade I mentioned on the last page (curry powder + turmeric powder + tandoori powder + olive oil)
2013-09-10 15.11.18.jpg

Oh, apparently I can only upload 1 file per post. I'll just wait til others post for my next creation cause I'm too lazy to upload these images to any website.

Edit: I've been using this marinade with chicken a lot and I guess I should mention that if you want to try it out, I personally think it's better to bake the chicken rather than fry it. But that's just me, and it's great either way

Baked or fried, I love it both ways. Oh! My grandmother has the "set it and forget it" rotisserie oven! She says I could have it, since she never uses it. I'm so going to get my cooking on when I get my hands on it! :D

Lol. Chinese broccoli (apparently called Gai-lan), beef fillet, zucchini, chopped onions and garlic all sauteed together and then I added soy sauce to make it more chinese.

Could've added peanuts and cook until they get soft.
Veggies + Beef + Peanut is a winning combo.

Here's a food that's so over-the-top, it's rated M for "monstrous"! No one try this at home!

A small pizza with EVERY single available topping they had to offer!

We're talking meatball, ham, chicken, broccoli, eggplant, spinach, black olives, tomatoes, jalapeños, pineapple, feta cheese, ricotta cheese, garlic, mushrooms, green and red peppers, and anchovies!

This isn't your uncle's pizza; this is Claire's pizza! Not for the faint of heart and only those ages 18+ are allowed access, so hire babysitters!

Look at that slice! Full of heart-stopping suspense in the form of a greasy mosaic that will make health nuts and dietitians cry!

"What can be worse than that?", you ask?!

Adding oily, artery-clogging, deep fried onion rings on top!
So who's hungry now?! Anyone dare try this?! I dared, and I have zero regrets!

To be serious though, the pizza wasn't as bad as one would think (provided they have no problem with any single topping listed). At $19.72 for a small, this isn't something I'd do again... anytime soon.

Been a while since I've posted. Here are some cool things I've been munching on...

Peanut butter and jelly waffles with poached raspberries, whipped peanut butter ricotta and peanut brittle

On a media trip out to some wine country, I got to have cannoli made by the grandmother of one winery family, and homemade salumi by the grandad. Oh man. <3

This spread at another winery was equally delicious. One of our favourite things was anchovies, sandwiched in bay leaves, battered and fried. Omg. <3

A chocolate drink with pop rocks on the edge! SO fun.

This is actually a breakfast dish, but would make an awesome dessert as well.
Tonka bean and coconut sago with mango, citrus curd and pistachio salted caramel crumbs.

Jalapeno doughnuts with maple butter.

Sticky dukkah lamb ribs

Omelette with purple potatoes (might just be yams), padron peppers and ash brie cheese.

And what I just had tonight, it's called 'Death by chocolate'! A chocolate coffin, filled with chocolate ice-cream, on a bed of chocolate soil and white chocolate sauce, finished with a chocolate tombstone. Chocolate was a bit too hard, but loved the fun!

I want to make some kind of "Mexican Pizza"

I used to love making pizzas back in the day. I know want to make an experimental one.

The problem is, I'm kind of picky with ingredients so it isn't going to be like other "Mexican Pizzas" out there.

My pickiness when it comes to eating probably limits my cooking ability, even if I love cooking

That depends, do you want just the toppings, the sauce, or the whole thing?

If you are for the toppings only, you can use some of the most recognizable mexican ingredients like jalapeño, pastor beef, maybe corn? beans? idk.
If you want to go for something a bit less characteristic, you can add chipotles, tomatoes, onions, poblano peppers, maybe something more eccentric like Axiote, Granada, or Macho bananas.

You can do the sauce with green tomatoes (tomatillo), chilis, oregano, coriander, epazote (I highly recommend this one), not really sure what else (mole? rosemary? cooked rosemary itself is a pretty traditional dish, lol).

And of course, instead of mozzarella, use Oaxaca cheese. The taste is VERY noticeable different.
