Five score years ago, a great American, in whose symbolic shadow we stand signed the Emancipation Proclamation. This momentous decree came as a great beacon light of hope to millions of Negro slaves who had been seared in the flames of withering injustice. It came as a joyous daybreak to end the long night of captivity.

But one hundred years later, we must face the tragic fact that the Negro is still not free. One hundred years later, the life of the Negro is still sadly crippled by the manacles of segregation and the chains of discrimination. One hundred years later, the Negro lives on a lonely island of poverty in the midst of a vast ocean of material prosperity. One hundred years later, the Negro is still languishing in the corners of American society and finds himself an exile in his own land. So we have come here today to dramatize an appalling condition.

In a sense we have come to our nation's capital to cash a check. When the architects of our republic wrote the magnificent words of the Constitution and the declaration of Independence, they were signing a promissory note to which every American was to fall heir. This note was a promise that all men would be guaranteed the inalienable rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

It is obvious today that America has defaulted on this promissory note insofar as her citizens of color are concerned. Instead of honoring this sacred obligation, America has given the Negro people a bad check which has come back marked "insufficient funds." But we refuse to believe that the bank of justice is bankrupt. We refuse to believe that there are insufficient funds in the great vaults of opportunity of this nation. So we have come to cash this check -- a check that will give us upon demand the riches of freedom and the security of justice. We have also come to this hallowed spot to remind America of the fierce urgency of now. This is no time to engage in the luxury of cooling off or to take the tranquilizing drug of gradualism. Now is the time to rise from the dark and desolate valley of segregation to the sunlit path of racial justice. Now is the time to open the doors of opportunity to all of God's children. Now is the time to lift our nation from the quicksands of racial injustice to the solid rock of brotherhood.

It would be fatal for the nation to overlook the urgency of the moment and to underestimate the determination of the Negro. This sweltering summer of the Negro's legitimate discontent will not pass until there is an invigorating autumn of freedom and equality. Nineteen sixty-three is not an end, but a beginning. Those who hope that the Negro needed to blow off steam and will now be content will have a rude awakening if the nation returns to business as usual. There will be neither rest nor tranquility in America until the Negro is granted his citizenship rights. The whirlwinds of revolt will continue to shake the foundations of our nation until the bright day of justice emerges.

But there is something that I must say to my people who stand on the warm threshold which leads into the palace of justice. In the process of gaining our rightful place we must not be guilty of wrongful deeds. Let us not seek to satisfy our thirst for freedom by drinking from the cup of bitterness and hatred.

We must forever conduct our struggle on the high plane of dignity and discipline. We must not allow our creative protest to degenerate into physical violence. Again and again we must rise to the majestic heights of meeting physical force with soul force. The marvelous new militancy which has engulfed the Negro community must not lead us to distrust of all white people, for many of our white brothers, as evidenced by their presence here today, have come to realize that their destiny is tied up with our destiny and their freedom is inextricably bound to our freedom. We cannot walk alone.

And as we walk, we must make the pledge that we shall march ahead. We cannot turn back. There are those who are asking the devotees of civil rights, "When will you be satisfied?" We can never be satisfied as long as our bodies, heavy with the fatigue of travel, cannot gain lodging in the motels of the highways and the hotels of the cities. We cannot be satisfied as long as the Negro's basic mobility is from a smaller ghetto to a larger one. We can never be satisfied as long as a Negro in Mississippi cannot vote and a Negro in New York believes he has nothing for which to vote. No, no, we are not satisfied, and we will not be satisfied until justice rolls down like waters and righteousness like a mighty stream.

I am not unmindful that some of you have come here out of great trials and tribulations. Some of you have come fresh from narrow cells. Some of you have come from areas where your quest for freedom left you battered by the storms of persecution and staggered by the winds of police brutality. You have been the veterans of creative suffering. Continue to work with the faith that unearned suffering is redemptive.

Go back to Mississippi, go back to Alabama, go back to Georgia, go back to Louisiana, go back to the slums and ghettos of our northern cities, knowing that somehow this situation can and will be changed. Let us not wallow in the valley of despair.

I say to you today, my friends, that in spite of the difficulties and frustrations of the moment, I still have a dream. It is a dream deeply rooted in the American dream.

I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: "We hold these truths to be self-evident: that all men are created equal."

I have a dream that one day on the red hills of Georgia the sons of former slaves and the sons of former slaveowners will be able to sit down together at a table of brotherhood.

I have a dream that one day even the state of Mississippi, a desert state, sweltering with the heat of injustice and oppression, will be transformed into an oasis of freedom and justice.

I have a dream that my four children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.

I have a dream today.

I have a dream that one day the state of Alabama, whose governor's lips are presently dripping with the words of interposition and nullification, will be transformed into a situation where little black boys and black girls will be able to join hands with little white boys and white girls and walk together as sisters and brothers.

I have a dream today.

I have a dream that one day every valley shall be exalted, every hill and mountain shall be made low, the rough places will be made plain, and the crooked places will be made straight, and the glory of the Lord shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together.

This is our hope. This is the faith with which I return to the South. With this faith we will be able to hew out of the mountain of despair a stone of hope. With this faith we will be able to transform the jangling discords of our nation into a beautiful symphony of brotherhood. With this faith we will be able to work together, to pray together, to struggle together, to go to jail together, to stand up for freedom together, knowing that we will be free one day.

This will be the day when all of God's children will be able to sing with a new meaning, "My country, 'tis of thee, sweet land of liberty, of thee I sing. Land where my fathers died, land of the pilgrim's pride, from every mountainside, let freedom ring."

And if America is to be a great nation this must become true. So let freedom ring from the prodigious hilltops of New Hampshire. Let freedom ring from the mighty mountains of New York. Let freedom ring from the heightening Alleghenies of Pennsylvania!

Let freedom ring from the snowcapped Rockies of Colorado!

Let freedom ring from the curvaceous peaks of California!

But not only that; let freedom ring from Stone Mountain of Georgia!

Let freedom ring from Lookout Mountain of Tennessee!

Let freedom ring from every hill and every molehill of Mississippi. From every mountainside, let freedom ring.

When we let freedom ring, when we let it ring from every village and every hamlet, from every state and every city, we will be able to speed up that day when all of God's children, black men and white men, Jews and Gentiles, Protestants and Catholics, will be able to join hands and sing in the words of the old Negro spiritual, "Free at last! free at last! thank God Almighty, we are free at last!"

I actually remembered that quote from my dream, that is a rare occurence for me.

errr edit: not that learning about MLK was terrible, but memorzing it was awful.

This one dream I had...

My school went on some field trip to a weird museum. I've never been to a real one so it was just the white wall movie type thing with the weirdest stuff ever in it.
Bus breaks down on the way back. We get off and walk around the side of a mountain to the school. I notice a squirrel on top of the mountain and keep walking.
Everyone starts running when they see the school, so I take off a little after. The squirrel throws itself in my path perfectly, causing me to trip and fall off the mountain.I grabbed a stick and grinded on it (i'd pick it up and throw it back down to keep going) and got back to the top, where the squirrel took the stick and then pusched me with one finger. I slid all the way down.

I walked a bit reached a creek, (I was uninjured) climbed back up. The squirrel has grown to about 9 feet tall, bulky, and black with red eyes (Dark Link.). It lunges at me and eats me.

This dream is reoccuring and I've tried to fight it with a shotgun, Hulk Hogan, and a rocket launcher. None of these were effective. I think Hulk Hogan or the shotgun did the best.

i lol'd

mines to day was very strange and cool. it took place in my backyard, i was fooling around in my backyard walking around. suddenly i heard a very familiar sound.sounded like deoxys in that pokemon movie or those martians in war of the worlds. as i looked up, the sky was filled with martian spaceship. i dont remember what happend later, i woke up

i went back to sleep by accident(i blcked out), and find my self outside my front yard with my parents and siblings. my 14 year old brother was wearing a yellow power ranger suit(im not kidding..) and my sister was in a princess suit. im scratching my head...."Halloween??...its August". so my parents wanted to take them to trick or treat, so i tag along too. my parents were next door instantly. i had to hop over a large gate, instead...i actually used Fox's Firefox attack to jump over it(...awkward). at that time i said "did i do that?". i charged up and jumped over another gate. i actually became falco...i woke up later in a bit of subcon.

I've had some weird dreams about members of swf....

The first one was maybe a year ago. It involved me and Chaco going to an all you can eat buffet. It was huge. The room was big and there was so much crappy buffet food. The place was packed too...full of old people. You couldn't walk 2 feet without running into a little old lady. We got our food and went to buy it. It was like a cafeteria type of payment system. you got your food, went in line, and paid for it at a register. There were rows and rows of registers. We were waiting in line and saw kawaiibunny at another register. There was a really old lady behind with jello on her platelooking at kawaii like she was about to try and **** her. then the dream ended.

I had two other dreams recently. The first one was about me and The fanfan going into a really old attic while eating ice cream for some reason. we checked around and found a box that had a scroll to the location of the Avatar. *Avatar, the last airbender* So we went on a roadtrip in a van to search for him.

The last one happened maybe 3 days ago. I was at a house that I wasn't familiar with but people were playing brawl inside. I started playing brawl with them and realized I was at Kawaii's house. There was a pool and a car in the driveway that was pimped out for a gamer. She showed it off to all of us. It was pink and sky blue with a mini jolteon statue on the hood of the car. blue goggles were hanging from the rear-view and there was a 25 in. tv where the glove compartment should be with all the consoles and handhelds on the side. I can't remember the type of car it was though. The back was full of loli dresses and action figures and another tv. Stickers of cute things were on the car too. Everyone loved it. Then we went back inside to brawl.

I found myself upon a large, rocky plain. As I looked at my surroundings, I discovered naught, I felt an urge to walk toawrds the horizon, thus I did. By merely walking about 10 or 20 feet foward, I realized that it was no horizon, but a massive sheer cliff. As I looked over the edge, all that I saw was more cloud-filled sky, no end to this sheer cliff.
The part that I was standing on collapsed, and I fell downward, into the seemingly infinite sky. Was I falling upward or downward? I could not tell. I kept falling (or rising at a falling speed), and then I heard a faint roar of sorts, as I did, I shouted something out, yet I could not hear what it was. Then the dream ended.
It was extremely étrange...

i was being chased by a car that said "irony" on the front bumper. i was running and i hid behind a double parked car. all the while the song "time of my life", by sage francis was playing. i still get chills...

I remember once going to a jonas brothers concert. Outside out of this building there was a giant monitor showing the concert inside. When I went inside the building (as I had front seat passes) it looked like inside of my cafeteria. We partied and watched the concert all night. In the morning (yes the concert was an all nighter) I was saying good bye to the jonas brothers and outside of the building there was a mcdonalds so I went inside to get some breakfast. And I took out my phone to call my dad and I waited for about an hour and all my friends left and I still waited. Then for some reason I knew he wasnt coming so I went inside the cafeteria to reminise about the all nighter and the place was full of garbage. Then I remember these people outside so I went to see if it was my dad and it wasnt so then the car they came out of was black and I cant remember much after that but I think they approached me and did something to me or said something to me. Then I woke up. In the ten seconds I layed awake I forgot the last 10 seconds of that dream

My dreams are ****ing messed up.

I used to have a recurring dream where I went with the Muppets to outer space to look for Gonzo (the blue one with a giant nose)'s helmet. We found it on a planet with a bunch of prehistoric people who had it. The prehistoric people came back to my house and replaced my family. I wanted to eat some chips, but they said I couldn't because it was in the morning. I saw my sister-replacement eating chips and I complained about favouritism so they tied to a chair. After I escaped the dream ended.

I've had it with slight variations, such as being tied up with a friend or being forced to do laundry and it always left me with a weird feeling.

I had another one where my neighbourhood got hit by a blue shell and we all died. I kept denying that we were going to an afterlife and I was pissed when we actually went to some heaven waiting room place. I saw Richard Dawkins (a famous anti-religious scientist) and I was like "****, I'm pissed." and he was like "Yeah, so am I." Then I got over it and went and ran around in the bowling alley with my friends. Then we went outside (it wasn't really heaven) and fought off an evil menace. Then I called my mother and she brought us home.

Weird stuff, no?

Bleh, had horrid dreams last night...

One I actually woke up, was one of those "holy **** it's real" and I didn't realize it till I was screaming in my bed dreams. I thought there was this awful, horrid, lobster/centipede/sea urchin/spider creature at the side of my bed. and I actually woke up turned on the light, freaked out and looked all around... glad it didn't wake anyone up in the house.

second was a very nasty disgusting dream. it was about some girl going to visit a farm she used to like as a kid. well she got there and the farm looked all run down and animals were starving and some dead etc very gross imagery. then she goes inside some place and this scary redneck voice starts yelling so she goes to leave but she's trapped; and apparently the redneck had planned this, as a test or some ****. so she has to go through all these little tests which involved animals injected with some kinda disease to make them evil, swimming through moldy animal intenstines etc, and some michael myers-esque figure chasing her.

So basically I watched a really dumb gory horror movie in my dream.

Today I had a dream about me in college. I was new there and didn't know where my classes were. I wandered around until I saw some kids who were from my old high school. We all walked around and ironically were in the same classroom. One of the professor's helped us out and when we got to our room it just looked like a regular old class room. I made a joke about something and this one girl I knew got mad. I gave her a hug and said I was playing. Then I woke up to see my phone ringing. My mom was calling to wake me up. The funny thing in that dream though was that all the kids who was in my classroom weren't even supposed to be freshmen in college. I'm about 1-3 grades higher then them :laugh:

But a two of my most vivid have inspired me to make a oneshot manga :3

And when i say vivid...it usually means that i vaguely remember xD

One was that the main character was an assassin sent to kill the king of some random country and the kings son was his best friend
In the other one, the character's eyes that i saw through were that of some knight who's team was ambushed and she was trying to help some empress.

...I need to lay off the code geass, claymore, and other anime/manga

I had this really horrible dream within a dream last night...

I was dreaming that my family and I were all in the living room when suddenly a masked burglar broke open a window and tried to steal some of our stuff. I chased him away by threatening to hit him with a lamp. After that, I awake to my parents asking me if I was all right. They heard screaming and were wondering if I had a nightmare. I told them I was fine when suddenly a fist breaks open my window and the same burglar comes in. He then takes out a gun and asks us where the cash register is. We tell him we don't own one and he ties us up. I then watch him go to the kitchen and have some cereal (Very random, I know). Anyway, he's standing in front of us eating his cereal and tells us that he'll shoot us if we don't tell him where the cash register is before he finishes his cereal. A monster truck then crashes through the wall, hitting the burglar in the process. It turn out it's my uncle (whom I haven't seen in a while). I wake up (for real this time) and I just start laughing.

That would be the funniest burglar ever. I can see it a burglar sitting on a stool eating chunky puffs. "You have until I eat all of my cereal to tell me where the register is". Funniest dream I've read :laugh:

Oh god I dreamt I was in total drama action... maybe because this is the only time ive given the show a shot.... anyways I was dreaming that that fat kid tried to eat me for some reason and the show host came in and said that it was challenge time and at that point I spit him out... we went to some place and it was a kung fu theme or something and I was up against that strong black kid... I started kicking his *** until he suddenly went on a rage and started kicking my ***... badly. Then out of nowhere I found some spinach (did I say I saw popeye that day?) and suddenly I got super strength... I ended up winning and killing him. I then went up against that gangster dude. I kicked his *** too until he took out his gun and shot me. I was dying and I saw that girl with the big boobs try to CPR me. Instead of that it turned out she just wanted to kiss me... I died and I woke up in a wtf state

In a recent dream I was in some futuristic high-tech building working or something. All a sudden there's a large explosion or something of that sort and I am told we have to escape. We start running and find these strange life forms that are pretty much the "X" from Metroid Fusion. Some were green and some were red. The red ones would follow you, and the green ones would just charge forward in your direction. I'd run down a corridor and come to 2 or 3 different transparent doors. Each room had a different amount and a different variety of these life forms. They would stick to you and slow you down. I remember tearing one off me and ripping it to shreds with my bare hands. When I finally made it out they told me it was all a simulation. I was told stats such as how long I took, how many calories I burned, etc. We were also ranked and I received the ranking "decisive savage" or "indecisive savage." I'm not entirely sure.

And i manage to rescue her from her pimp, and we're running away when a cop shoots and kills her. so i snap his neck and hide out in the swamps of louisiana where boats with machine guns patrol looking for me.

I think its weird that sometimes in my dreams i do something and when i wake up i do the exact same thing and get the exact same response as in my dream.

When I was in kindergarden (yeah that got etched into my mind) I dreamt that I was going into a castle in black and white with a group of my classmates with a bag of hot wheels(wtf). When we got inside we found this table and started playing on it with the hotwheels. Then this kid comes up and asks if he could play with us. We say ok and we start playing. Then suddenly all my classmates are gone and this huge and scary guy comes up and grabs the kid. It turns out it was dracula and the kid was his son. He then comes pissed off at me and bites my neck. I let out a girly shriek like from those old horror movies and wake up. I had wet my bed that night and had a morbid fear of vampires for a year.:chuckle:
