The last 2 days will go down in the history books as one of the strongest weekends ever for the Smash community. Around the country new and veteran players turned out to official Nintendo Smash 3DS tournaments. While these occurred, more than 700 players traveled from around the world to Michigan to play in The Big House 4. It all came to a close as just over 50,000 concurrent viewers tuned in on Sunday night to watch the finals between @Mew2King and @MaNg0 - two of the greatest Melee players of all time.

Mew2King looked to take his biggest tournament victory to date before Mango won back-to-back sets in the grand finals. With this victory, Mango has won 3 of the 4 largest tournaments of the year including EVO 2014 and MLG Anaheim. His only blemish is his third place finish at Apex 2014, behind PPMD and Mew2King. Mew2King had a chance to net his best finish ever with 4 of the 5 Smash gods in attendance. Despite falling short, Mew2King still had the best overall performance with 1st place in 2v2 for both Project M and Melee, along with his 2nd place in 1v1 in Melee and 3rd in Project M.

Other notable results include Hungrybox finishing outside of the top 5, losing to Leffen in winners and Lucky in Losers. Lucky had possibly his best performance in finishing 5th - including going to game 5, last stock against the eventual champion Mango. Leffen's 3rd place finish helps cement him in the conversation among the 5 Melee gods. When the tournament finished, Mew2King told the stream that he believes Leffen is firmly the 6th best after the big 5.

On the Project M side of things, Zero followed up his dominant performance at CEO 2014 with another victory. Professor Pro also had a strong showing, including knocking out Mew2King with his Snake in Winners Finals. The Project M meta looked really solid with nearly everyone in the top 8 using different character. Also improved since CEO 2014 was the turn around between games - the stage list has been reduced and players were under additional pressure to make counter pick choices more quickly.

Incredible tournament. Some big upsets that I don't think many people were expecting. Great job to all of the players and everyone involved.

This was the first tournament I've ever watched for competitive Smash.
I didn't know what to expect, but I had some fun watching it.

Another weekend, another amazing Smash tournament! Grats to Mang0 for the 2-set win, and Leffen for upsetting the balance and pulling salty tears from the haters. So many epic clashes, glad to see Smash is as strong as ever.

Can't wait to see Smash 4 played in a non-Nintendo tournament at a high level by these guys, even though it more than likely will not top Melee or Project M. It'll be fascinating to see.

Shoot, my girlfriend's birthday was this weekend so I totally forgot to watch this. Was hoping Armada would take it.

Who is this Mang0 guy? Is he some kind of pro smasher or something? /troll

I am so glad I went, that tournament was one of the greatest spectacles of Smash I've ever seen. I don't even care about not making it out of pools, the experience was well worth it!

I did pretty good for a Columbus P:M player, but I swore I was so close to beating Ripple.

Somehow, someone made a typo with my tag number. It's "493" not "492". Can someone fix that, please?
