Hey guys, I'm brand new here. A little about myself, I live in Richmond and am a decent player at SSBM but by no means a pro. Sheik or Captain Falcon are probably my best characters but low-tier matches are my favourite.

Nevertheless I'd like to see any Youtube vids of you guys playing (locals only) just so I can see how good our smash community is :D (edit: thought i'd just youtube search some usernames and that seemed to work, but if you have quick links to the best matches you have on youtube, that would be cool too)

Sorry I'm just lazy to fish through 1000 pages or something.

Oh and if there's a meet coming up, I wouldn't mind meeting a few new people.

haha hey 321slash, my name's Manli and I play Marth. We have a pretty solid smash community here, you can check out some matches under the username "genesisftw". You can also get to my smashboards profile, check out the list of threads I've made, and check out my critique thread. Most of those are matches of me, though.

There's a tournament in Richmond next saturday, you might wanna check that out. I hope to play you soon =D .

I strongly disagree with the method that was used to make that final list.

I get the vibe that you're trying to push THAT particular list out the door ASAP..
We've been trying to update this thing for 10x too long. That's a long time. First of all, you should allow me to elaborate on my method. The list I made was a combination of first vote count and then how strongly people felt about the changes they made. If you could elaborate on what about my method was so poor then please let me know. As far as I know I used the same methods as WA does for their PR. Alternatively, if you can bring forth a more approriate method for updating the list then I'd be more then happy to give it a try if it's within reason =D

also... why would I try so hard to push a new list when I'm being moved down for the first time? ;)

EDIT: Also, James, robbie, and david all suck for not telling me about saturday evening :/

Using majority of the vote or sort of a bad decision.
People are ALWAYS biased towards other people. If we did by voting then things would be stupid. Adam you have voted for Roby at 8th but I had to talk to you as to why you did that and why not move David up?
So as you can see I had to convince you to change your list and I assume you agree that Roby does not deserve 8th.
We cannot have a list that we arent happy with. I seriously dont know how is better Eric or Ryan.
Tiep votes Ryan
And of course You and Eric vote for Eric.
So technicly it's like 2 votes each.
I do agree with Tiep that Ryan can do better against a range of people but hasnt really been destroying people like he should.

Eric seems to be limited on who he can beat. Maybe its because people really know how to gimp Falco now or he just doesnt know how to get past certain things but can destroy some people at the same time.

Rushing the update doesnt make it better it just means we would have to update it AGAIN with in a short span.
So really what would you prefer? An inaccurate list that was different or an accurate list that was right?

We've been trying to update this thing for 10x too long. That's a long time.
Regardless, I think it should be more agreed upon before pushing it out; Otherwise it would just result in another "When's the next PR update?" spamming era.

First of all, you should allow me to elaborate on my method.
lol.. you made it seem as if we were exchanging words IRL and I cut you off mid-sentence. You made a complete post and then I replied so I figure you had voiced your method.

The list I made was a combination of first vote count and then how strongly people felt about the changes they made. If you could elaborate on what about my method was so poor then please let me know.
Voting system = fail. Massively.

TBQH, the panelists were created arbitrarily. Of course there was reason, but 1. Do they still hold up? 2. The reason was based on who's decision? 3. They're still arbitrary. The problem with a voting system AND panelists is that you have created an arbitrary group of people to cast arbitrary votes. On top of that, if we were even designed for a voting system we wouldn't have an even number of people.

As far as I know I used the same methods as WA does for their PR. Alternatively, if you can bring forth a more approriate method for updating the list then I'd be more then happy to give it a try if it's within reason =D
- You're not sure of WA's methods, and that's your main counterpoint
- You're using a "he did it, so I should" approach

My suggestion: discussion. We all put what we have on the table, and decide from there. In a perfect world there would be no disagreements. So I assume there will be disagreements. Maybe at the very end we could boil it down to voting? Or maybe allowing the community to voice their opinions after SEEING our discussion?

also... why would I try so hard to push a new list when I'm being moved down for the first time? ;)
dunno, just a vibe that I got from the post.

if Ryan + Eric are too close in skill ATM, why not just put them as a tie for now, or wait until it gets more clear? i dont see why the PR needs to be rushed..although Manuel most likely feels differently LOL.

In case my opinion matters, I think at the moment, Eric has proven himself more than Ryan has.

I think the PR should be updated after this tournament... this is the consensus, no? Also, instead of imposing fascist-like style updates, voting+discussion is the ideal way of dealing with disagreements, no? That makes it hard if you have 4 panelists, though =P.

GG, Gimpy, btw.

From EGGZ:

main points...

Thinks im better then RYAB

Why?

- Has more trouble against me
- I usually place better then RYAB at American tournaments

JOHN + TIEP are like LOCAL TOURNIES ONLY MATTER EVA!!!!! (thats the way i see it)

WHY?

becuase John had me 2nd on his PR list before the tournament last Saturday, but after that he puts me at 3rd... So if i beat John at the local tourney does that make him 3rd then and Ryan 1st?

NO JOHNS JOHN!

PR CORRUPTION!!!??!??

EDIT:

From The BEEF:

Think im better then Ryan easily

Why?

1. i have consistently had a harder time against you than i have against him (both in tournament and in friendly matches).... it either of you sandbag, that's your own problem, because i don't buy sandbagging... if you lose you lose... if he's too silly to play serious in friendly matches, then this is the consequence

2. As far as tournament results go, i have seen you do consistently good in every tournament i've attend that you're at. I watched you beat Nate, i've watched you beat other very high level smashers... i've watched you come close to winning tournaments.... and just overall, i believe you do better

3. As far as teams go, i believe you do nearly as good with Adam as he does with Tiep.... i'm not going to go into detail about this, but Tiep is FAR better than adam, especially in teams.....

Eerrrrmmm... was not expecting you to post this in a public forum *shakes fist*

It should be noted that i have great respect for both Adam and Ryan as fellow smashers... i don't mean to diss on anyone by saying these things... it's just my personal opinion and as such is not necessarily the truth. I shouldn't have phrased it "FAR better"... because i don't think very many people on the BC PR are "FAR better" than others on the list... except maybe like, John vs. Me, hahahah, or something like that...

I've been impressed by both Adam and Tiep in teams, i just think Tiep (and Peach at that) is more versitile in saving/KOing etc. in teams... that's all... whereas Adam (and Ganon at that) tends to be a little bit crazy in teams... i remember seeing eric get hit by stray f-airs intended for the opponents on many occasions... hahahah.... i don't think anyone will argue against that

Also I don't dispute for a second that Ryan has the POTENTIAL to be better than Eric or even John... this is just based on what i've seen recently (which hasn't been much because i've been busy). Plus everyone in this community knows how goofy Ryan can be even in tournaments... if he honestly cares about the PR, i suppose he's going to have to **** everyone on saturday and then keep doing it :)

Finally, Adam... if you're at all hurt by such comments, i'm sorry about it, wasn't intended to hurt anyones feelings... you'll just have to prove me wrong at saturdays tournament as well.... i don't even know who you are teaming with though??

Oh and on an unrelated note, before i forget to mention it... i'm sure i'll get a slough of disagreements for this one... but people need to not sandbag so much in friendlies, if we're starting to judge our PR based on "how difficult of a time i have against X person" and not just tournament results... which is the way it seems. I'd suggest that people stop doing it, or claiming to be doing it......... otherwise people may think that your tournament victories are "lucky"... and their perception of your actual skill level gets distorted. Why not just play to beat the crap out of everyone???? I dunno, i grow a little tired of hearing the "i was sandbagging" john...... it's both arrogant and distruptive to figuring out things such as PR. Of course if you don't care about the PR or what people think of you, go ahead, hahahahahah.

Sorry for the large post... just had alot to say i guess...

I think the sensitive approach should be avoided-things are what they are. people need to say how they feel so others know what they need to prove.

I think it needs more time before u can accurately make any changes with Ryan and Eric. also, if it matters, last tournament John and I had a much harder time facing Ryan and Tiep than Adam and Eric-i think so, at least.

lol, nobody likes the idea of having ties? yea, **** ties.

Ties suck. Especially windmill knots.

John himself said that we cannot only go by tournament results... and in friendlies, Eric dominates more than Ryan does.

I think the main disagreement is this:
RYAN HAS MORE POTENTIAL THAN ERIC I THINK SO HE'S BETTER.

Wrong. Ryan can be Gohan all he wants but if he hasn't been performing as well as Eric (and last saturday was ONE small tournament deriving from a smashfest) , then Eric deserves that #2 spot for now. I hope you're not forgetting that Eric took 3rd at Gameclucks recently. How have Ryan's GC performances been? Before last saturday, how have his BC performances been? Eric's?

I think this Saturday's tournament should be key in deciding. I think my stance is clear.

edit:// Adam is great in teams.

After MUCH MUCH thinking about this.
I do think Eric does deserve that 2nd spot. Not because I think Eric is better but just because of a few recent tourney results. From a few I remember.
Mini tourney in Richmond (I did not attend)
1st - Ryan
2nd - Eric
3rd - Manuel?
4th - Robbie
5th - Tony

GameClucks
1st - Nate
2nd - Me
3rd - Eric - Lost to Me and Nate
7th - Tony - Lost to Teddy and Nate
13th - Ryan - Lost to RC and Teddy
Lower then Ryan - Adam - Lost to Eggz and RC

Transcanada (I know I know. But this was a HUGE tourney)
4th - Eric - Lost to Vwins and BAM

GameClucks (Eric did not go)
5th - Tony - Lost to Eggz and Ka
11th or 13th one of the two - Ryan - Lost to Dan and someone.
Lower then Ryan - Adam - No idea who he lost to

Mini tourney my house.
1st - Ryan - Lost to no one
2nd - Eric - Lost to Ryan
3rd - Me - Lost to Ryan and Eric
4th - Tiep - Lost to Manuel and Eric
5th - Manuel - Lost to Me and Eric
7th - Tony - Lost to Me and Tiep
9th - Adam - Lost to Manuel and Tony

As you can see Ryan has done **** in local tourneys but bombed OoS tourneys. Where as Eric has consistently been doing good.
Also notice other names I put in the ranks. I.E. one mister Tony Le. He has been doing consistently well and ranked higher then Adam and I think he seriously needs a boost in the rank.

But im also down for waiting for Saturday since it is a big tourney. That is if Adam can wait until then....

lol John got his thinking cap on.
Mini tourney in Richmond (I did not attend)
1st - Ryan
2nd - Eric
3rd - Manuel?
4th - Robbie
5th - Tony

I think you mixed up two tournaments, this one was
1st - Ryan
2nd - Eric
3rd - Manuel
4th - Tiep
5th - Tony
5th - Adam

GameClucks
1st - Nate
2nd - Me
3rd - Eric - Lost to Me and Nate
7th - Tony - Lost to Teddy and Nate
13th - Ryan - Lost to RC and Teddy
Lower then Ryan - Adam - Lost to Eggz and RC

What?! Eric only lost to NATE and JOHN? You suck, Eric.
Transcanada (I know I know. But this was a HUGE tourney)
4th - Eric - Lost to Vwins and BAM

You'll notice that Eric lost only to the 2 best EC smashers.

You got this correct. Note: I lost to John and Eric. Tiep lost to me and Eric.

Also notice other names I put in the ranks. I.E. one mister Tony Le. He has been doing consistently well and ranked higher then Adam and I think he seriously needs a boost in the rank.

rep system was horrible

i'd have about a zillion rep from that brawl thread though XD
You should start a "donate to gimpyfish for his community service to smashboards" foundation..... and then use the money to buy chipotle and air freight it to my house...

*looks hopefull*

whoa, nice sig tony.

The more recent one went

1) Eric
2) Ryan
3) Manuel.
5) Tony
5) Adam .

If it helps you remember, Tony JUST ABOUT beat ryan (instead missed a suicide dair), and I did beat ryan in winners'.

The much older tie-breaker one was indeed what you quoted.

By the way, guys, my phone broke, so I need you guys to give me your numbers... PM me maybe?

David, I especially need yours for this Sat. =O

Actually John, Ryan placed lower than me at one of those Gameclucks. Other then that, most of those results look pretty accurate today.
