I'd chalk it up to us knowing Erdrick is coming, but you'd think four heroes plus more content than FF would create more buzz.
That's super easy. That's Munchie; Eight's little critter friend. In Dragon Quest VIII, Munchie is used to explore certain areas in the game and you can also feed him cheeses that you can make in the Alchemy Pot that can cause all sorts of effects to happen.
Dragon Quest is still fairly niche worldwide.

2/10 is generous.Funny you should mention that. Most of what was in the leaks actually ended up in the E3 trailer. Most of it dealt with the existence of a time skip and a war between the houses, which is public knowledge now.
The leaks don't mention too much about the story that isn't public now, but the leaker, for what it's worth, seemed to really like it. For reference, the leaker gave Genealogy a 10/10 for story and Fates a 2/10. They gave Three Houses a 9/10.
In Japan, I heard it's actually the other way around.

Actually, from what I seen, there is alot of Japanese peoples who are excited over Banjo inclusion.

Tho I do remeber when Little mac came out, thr common thing I saw from JP is "Who is little mac?" and "no one asked for this"
To be fair, Punch-Out NES only had limited release in Japan, and by that, I mean it was a game you could get by winning a tourney or something like that, outside of that? Punch-Out was basically no-existent in Japan and was pretty much made for the West in all shape and form, with Mike Tyson being used for the final boss specifically to gain attention from Western players, since Tyson was the champion at the time.
I think it comes out of a feeling built over years that the popularity in the West doesn’t really matter. A character can get in that people in the states don’t really know or care about, but not vice versa with Japan.
Then it escalated since I last checked because that wasn't the case yesterday.

Honestly they need to have the foresight to release a new character's patch long before the character itself. That way there's not as much stress on the eShop, Pass owners get the character instantly, and everybody wins.
