Hopefully I'll get a chance to play at Smashing Grounds soon instead of spending every single week running it. We have around 90 PM players each week, and 100+ when you add in Melee players, so I haven't been free enough to play.

Went to a Kansas monthly yesterday and did awful tbh. I got fourth in PM but feel like I didn't play very well and I completely slept on a Samus player in winners semis (I even went Snake game 1 lol, still almost won). Mentally just wasn't there. I play four or five different characters at a high level but for whatever reason only used Zelda twice all day, won the first game I used Zelda on after my opponent had a low % SD to even it up, and lost the other one to the Samus player. Used a lot of Peach and Game and Watch throughout.

ZGE: 4th of 40, Hype Train 4, Lawrence, Kansas July 12, 2015 http://ksmht4.challonge.com/p16

The only Zelda video I'll have from this is the match I lost. I know what I did wrong after watching the twitch broadcast, I just don't think I was mentally with it and wasn't quite catching on until it was too late.

Did you post the wrong challonge? This references a 16 person bracket with a player named BW A-Wall getting 4th.
No, that's me. There were pools in this tournament and this was top 16. The BW in front of my name means that I came from winners side of pool B.

Now that I think about it, there were only 40 people that entered PM. There were two pools of 11 and two of 9 zzz

ZGE: 4wt for 9th out of 70ish (pools prior to bracket again) at DIOD XVII Louisburg, KS 7/25/15 http://kcsmashbros.challonge.com/diodxviiprojectmtop24

Really not happy with this one. My set against FlashingFire was incredibly close but he managed to throw me into a c4 that he wasn't even sure was there for the last stock, lol. In losers I played Sinister who lives in the same town as me and as of recently I had been taking most PM sets from. Again, very close game 3 but he won. I'm pretty sure I could have beaten the next guy too and then would have made it to Frizz. Mainly though I really wanted a shot at Strong Bad and Darkrain and didn't get that opportunity. I didn't get anything recorded either, so there's nothing to watch.

ZGE: Tied for 7th out of 57 at Hype Go!, Lawrence KS, 8/15 to 8/16. Notable players: Darkrain, Frizz, Messi, metroid, Sothe, Detta http://hypego.challonge.com/pm16

I'm ok with this honestly. I could have done better I think, but at least I stuck with Zelda pretty much all of bracket. I also think I could have fared well against some of the notables, but I never got the chance other than Sothe. Ivysaur requires a lot of patience, lol. Didn't get anything streamed or recorded though.

I also got to team with metroid and we ended up getting 3rd. Not bad. A couple of those got recorded including a set against Darkrain and BPow (a really good Wario/Metaknight player).

Also wtf do you do against MK, lol. He's like Fox with a sword that can fly.

Place a dins slightly above dash attack level and read him like a boss. Mileage may vary.

The problem was that I didn't often have the opportunity to do so. MK is really fast. I understand the Din's mixups and everything that goes into where you place it and detonate it and whatnot, but you can't really throw out Din's in neutral unless MK is literally the entire stage away from you, and the only other opportunities are after finishing a combo and when he's on the revival plat.

Also got someone with the giant Din's explosion hitbox =D. Love getting those.

Teleport around like a madwoman until he commits so heavily to either you teleporting max distance or in place/backwards that you get enough time to throw out a Dins. If he can hit your teleport before it starts then you're in range to play, which means push forward and threaten to jump->lightning kick, do so if it would hit otherwise scare him away then dash back and teleport! All mindgames, nothing is guaranteed (as it should be).

I watched some of your matches Rizner. You were definitely putting in work (dude took sets off of Oro!? and got a game from Captain Faceroll).

You should definitely dtilt more at the ledge instead of going for dsmash all the time though, you got punished a lot for whiffing dsmash at the ledge cause your opponent would just sweetspot =(. Dtilt will beat or at worst trade with characters sweetspotting the ledge.

Also dtilt will either pop them up which nets you a dsmash anyway or it will meteor them. Muahaha.

Smart. Will try this out more and see about incorporating it into my game. Thanks for the tip!

I feel like I generally played well this weekend - looking forward to the VODs coming up to look at everything again. The only set I lost super hard was against Dart - he's good, lol. I was able to take iPunchKidz to game 3 in one of our money matches, winning game 1 and having a close game 2 before a rough game 3 as well, lol.

Going to NorCal for work in a week (and I'll be there until October), so hopefully I can get to some more tournaments against another scene again. Should be interesting to see how I stack up

Which area of Norcal are you going to be in? The bay or sacramento? If you're going to the bay. I can definitely link you to some PM tourneys and stuff. Also welcome to norcal!
Edit: Welcome whenever you get here xD

Yeah you'll be in the bay! I can invite you to the norcal PM facebook page if you PM me and stuff. There should be a lot of tournies near the end of this month. And I believe there is one the weekend after paragon that IPK might be going to!

ZGE: 2nd of 19 at Maxout! Kansas City, MO 9/5/15 http://maxout.challonge.com/Sept15PMS, Notable Players: Frizz

Got winners finals from him but he took both sets of grands (and fyi, Frizz is like the hidden boss of the Midwest and got 3rd in PM at Summer Madness, outplacing Sethlon and taking a set off of Luck in winners http://challonge.com/PMSinglesSM). Felt good to get a set off him but he Foxed me in Grand Finals =(

Nothing got recorded but I was pretty happy with getting the set off of his Falcon. I stayed Zelda until game 3 of set 2 (he was up 2-0) when I switch to Bowser (won), then anticipating the Falcon I switched again to Game and Watch and lost a very close one. Oh well.

ZGE: 4th of 28 at Webster Fighting Game Community Monthly, St. Louis, MO, 9-12-15, http://challonge.com/pmwfgc Notable players: metroid, Frizz

Wario sucks, gg. Got three sets recorded though so I'll link them in the video thread when they get uploaded. Overall though I was disappointed that I didn't do better and that I got frustrated mid-set against Vista (Wario player). Had another super duper close set with Frizz too, last game last stock last hit kind of thing.

Got 8th of 64 at Smashnest 4.5 but they used a spreadsheet for bracket. I'm 8th on the PR so it's fitting... Hopefully I can get top 8 at NW Battlegrounds. If not they invited me for commentary so I'll get lots of mic time!

LOL Good to see you in the Zelda boards Darc.

Vitriform: 2wt for 5th/21; Smash City: The Return; Philadelphia, PA; 10/3/15; Notable Players: N/A (Vex was there, but I didn't play him)
Vitriform: 4th/22; Brotherly Love #6; Hatboro, PA; 10/10/15; Notable Players: Vex (I lost 2-1, taking a game off his Sheik)

I also won a small round robin today at the same venue as Brotherly Love, but only 7 people including myself showed, so I won't list the specifics.

Kaeldiar: 3rd/8 today at our weekly.

Lost to Junebug and Redd. Went 2-1 against Junebug. He made a salty runback from 3.0 and went Wolf against me. Dropped a few chaingrabs in game 3 and lost the match. Definitely should've won :/

EDIT:
Kaeldiar: 4th/25 at a Richmond tourney (behind Smash G0d, Redd, and Llod)
Kaeldiar: 3rd/9 at our monthly (behind Smash G0d and Llod)

I've gotten to the point where I'm not losing to most people around my level anymore. It's only the big guys that give me any troubles. Came very close to taking a game or two off Smash G0d.
