Teching after getting hit on the side of the stage

I've been watching falco videos and people have been doing what the commentators have been calling "teching." This is how the scenrio goes. The falco gets thrown off stage and side b's or up b's onto the side of the stage. They then get intercepted and get hit but they can up b or side b again instantly. How does this work? thanks in advanced!
