The Netherlands' largest tournament to date has concluded, and the results for both Super Smash Bros. Melee and Super Smash Bros. Wii U are in!

Congratulations to Alliance's Adam "Armada" Lindgren, your Syndicate 2016 Melee champion. Armada took the tournament without much trouble, but Weston "G2 | Westballz" Dennis put up a good fight in winners' and grand finals. 3rd place went to Germany's finest Smasher, Mustafa "Ice" Akcakaya, who despite a stellar performance couldn't manage to get through Westballz in either of their sets.

Congratulations to Ramin "Mr.R" Delshad, who took the tournament without dropping a single game. His bracket including commanding wins over Rich Brown, "GGWP | iStudying" Kwarteng and William "Glutonny." Rich Brown landed in 2nd place after narrowly losing to iStudying in winners' semifinals, managing a 3-game comeback from set point against Jesus "Mutiny | Jbandrew" Benitez and 3-0ing iStudying in the rematch.

In fairness beyond the 5 we already have in that top 8, Melee also has Marth, Puff, Pikachu and ICs as serious contenders. I wasn't intending to bash Melee when I posted.

 

The amount of Fox in Top 8 is disturbing. I really wish there was some way for Nintendo to make an official balance patch for Melee.

Westballz looking super strong. Great stuff, so many matches he had a late lead in and was on equal footing.

I know, but still. Smash 4 at least has patches to begin with, meaning the game will probably end up more balanced in the end (if it isn't already) and thus have a lot longer before the meta becomes Ryu VS Diddy.

Yeah the patches definitely help. But there won't be anymore, so eventual centralization and thus stagnation of the metagame will happen. It's inevitable, unfortunately. Can't perfectly balance a game.
