Amazing tournament! I'm blown away by the support from the Midwest and beyond for one of the biggest tourneys here in recent memory. HUGE shoutouts to my TO staff for being incredibly helpful and proactive the entire weekend. I don't think we strayed from the schedule more than 20-30 minutes at any point during the weekend, and that's all thanks to everyone who helped run this tournament. I'm putting up temporary results for now since it's 4am after the tourney, but I'll definitely edit with the rest of the results and my shoutouts soon.

The following is a list of players who earned a payout in one or more event(s) at the tournament. If you're on this list, please email me at michigansmash@gmail.com and tell me your gamertag and PayPal account name so I can send over your prize winnings. I always make it a gift transaction such that there's no cut or fee taken by PayPal, so don't worry about that.

Armada

Mango
Axe
Duck
Kels
Anther
Scar
KirbyKaze
RaynEX
Prince Abu

Calculations:
Melee Singles
165 entrants x $10 per entrant = $1650 pot - 5 free entries = $1600 pot
1st place = 45% x $1600 = $720
2nd place = 20% x $1600 = $320
3rd place = 15% x $1600 = $240
4th place = 10% x $1600 = $160
5th place = 5% x $1600 = $80
5th place = 5% x $1600 = $80

Melee Doubles
90 entrants x $10 per entrant = $900 pot
1st place = 50% x $900 = $450 per tean
2nd place = 25% x $900 = $225 per team
3rd place = 15% x $900 = $135 per team
4th place = 10% x $900 = $90 per team

PM Singles
74 entrants x $10 per entrant = $740 pot - 4 free entries = $700 pot
1st place = 50% x $700 = $350
2nd place = 25% x $700 = $175
3rd place = 15% x $700 = $105
4th place = 10% x $700 = $70

Thanks so much for attending, everyone! I hope you had a great time, whether traveling in from the local region or from far away. If you enjoyed this past weekend, consider attending our next giant event which is The Big House 4 this October!

Please do me a favor and take a couple minutes of your time to post about your tournament experience here. Shoutouts go a long way for prospective attendees or sponsors looking back on these results threads, so every post counts. Much appreciated!

What was the point of that post @ Mew2King Mew2King ?

Anyway, I was thrilled for Anther vs. Axe (totally saw Anther coming, too). I was also happy to see Armada winning again because I like his mentality the most out of all the top Melee players.

(Almost) 20K viewers hype too.

Thank you so much, Juggleguy Juggleguy for hosting such an amazing tournament!

I didn't manage to take a single game in pools and was swiftly knocked out, so playing friendlies was where most of my time was spent, and it was a lot of fun! Considering this was my first tournament, it wasn't exactly like what I was expecting: seeing GIMR setting up the stream equipment, M2K walking around looking for a Peach player to practice against, Mango in his Cloud9 shirt and sweet jacket, and Armada four-stocking me effortlessly... All these people I've only seen on the internet and on streams walking past me... I think it's amazing that I'm able to stand behind, sit next to, and even play against top players of the world in such a natural manner. I knew Smash was unique, but for the first time, I was able to experience it for myself.

Thanks to everyone who was kind enough to play with me and teach me new ways to play the game. I cannot wait to play with all of you again, next time as a better player. Perhaps I might be able to take a game next time. :p

For now, though, I'll continue to wait excitedly for the Nintendo E3 conference. \o/

This was the first tournament where I spent an entire day playing zero games. Day 1 was pretty hectic. Preliminary shoutouts to WTP and Xatic for taking some work off of me during wave 2.

There were some hiccups during round 2 pools for the stream when some players went back to their pool to play a set instead of being on deck for stream, and some miscommunication that caused a line of three on deck. Oh well.

Other shoutouts:
Juggleguy for requiring an English paper to give proper shoutouts
Beach and Gamero for behind the scenes work that I don't really know that much about
Roki for driving me to my apartment and back and to my apartment again
Sweet for handling the PM setup situations
Jono for being hungover at 11am on Sunday
Everyone who played friendlies with me

Drephen for streetpassing 7 times
Axe for Jimmy no Johns
Armada for beating Mango in a beer chugging contest

I should probably add more later.

Gonna do Long form shoutouts. Hopefully I remember everyone. Also, I hope you all like the pictures and video when they finally get put up, it was fun to have the opportunity to get that.

Juggleguy: thank you for the amazing tourney. it was so well run, and aside from it being hot and I forgot shorts, I had a ton of fun.
TO Staff: thanks for being so well organized and helpful. I learned a lot from all of you and it will definitely help me improve the ohio tournies

My pool:
AGC | Axe: Dude, you're easily the most chill person I've ever met. It was a pleasure meeting you. and your yink messed me up so hard i couldn't even be mad cause it was awesome. I hope we can chill again sometime
Coffeemug: improved since big house! Round 2 next time!
Kason Birdman: legit fox man you did some awesome stuff. I need to not get overwhelmed in that matchup. also sick controller again.
Montross: dude Idk what it was about your playstyle but it was weird and awesome at the same time. keep it up dude
PGH Carroll The GOAT: That peach is too free. Fox sucks.
401k: Next time, I'm gonna seal the deal on that ditto. You best believe I'm gonna be braver next time haha
Everyone else, I'm sorry I forgot who you played so I'm sorry I can't match a face to a game. But good games!

General:
BeegsMW: we all hate you
Pat and KittyMW: Best weekend in a long time
EMP P4K | Armada: It was a pleasure to meet you sir, I had a great time talking to you in the interview and I loved to hear your thoughts on smash.
C9 | Mango: Thanks for making Ohio look bad
Loki: Your ganon is awesome
1der, TM, and Garzal: nice to have lunch with all of you. Shoutouts to douchebag bison and awful wendy's fries
mudkyp: We have to actually play next time, your teams puff is too free ;) also great commentary from the crowd
Ya Boy: Super fun teams, I feel like we had some synergy, we definitely gotta do that again. Next time I'm gonna wall tech everything ;)
Coffeeblack: Nice to finally meet you! next time, I'm down for that money match, there's no way I would stand a chance right now.

If I forgot you, sorry! There was so many awesome people and my memory is bad. GGs overall

Also shoutout's to the pizza palace, locking myself out of the hotel room immediately, deer on the turnpike, and no sleep. Can't wait for big house!

This was such a cool event and it's awesome to see I've improved. Shout outs time?
Mango: I don't understand how to play hungover. It's astounding. I lost so many melee sets because of it (johns)
Mudkyp: you're awesome. I really played like crap and you deserved better from my sheik in pools. The energy you bring is fantastic and I hope to run into you again!
Drephen: getting bopped by your sheik was enlightening; you didn't even try to chain grab: just perfect tech chases all over the stage. I learned a lot!
Thunderbird: your falcon is going down. Just wait.
Tran: thanks for playing first in pools; I was gonna go after mudkyp if I hadn't, and I'd definitely would've been blown out if I had. Holland crew is just gonna get stronger!
M2k: your mewtwo is scary. I thought snake had an easy time with him, but I've got a lot to learn.
Sweet: gotta rematch that Ivy! I forgot to CP my sheik for it and got bopped. :(
Gimr: thanks for getting my brawl and SD card back to me.
Kirbykaze: I was too dumb and starstruck to thank you for everything you've contributed to the sheik community, so here. Thank you.
Ginger and NJA: keep playing dudes. You're getting up there in the Michigan smash community. Give it time and we'll be back on top!
Armada: shouts out for "I want to see how long pit can chain throw falco" right before you were supposed to play mango. Classss.
Kzhu: lemme see them notes!

SHOUTOUTS TO ONTARIO

shoutouts to scar for being a super friendly guy & breaking the ice during our pools match (:

shoutouts to moonunit for back-to-back misfires Lol

shoutouts to juggleguy & staff for a great tournament experience - my first time traveling out of canada, and i am seriously considering coming back for big house this fall.

i do have a minor concern, though: i appreciated the setup incentive system, and although i felt confident that the setups as a whole would be secure in the venue, it seemed like not much was done to ensure the security of setups on an individual level.
the fact that the venue was relatively small and i was able to easily see my setup at any moment was nice, though certain things - the system of removing placards from TVs, for example - seemed prone to confusion or abuse. even something as simple as tying setup information to individuals during the registration process (tv model, serial numbers, or some other identifying information) would, i think, do a lot to ease anxiety about bringing setups and avoiding potential awkward situations. my buddy, for example, had a cube lifted on the last day (possibly by mistake), and when he approached a TO about it he apparently got the cold shoulder. i was a bit surprised that for a tournament that seemed to be so meticulously and carefully run, the setups were, in this regard, handled so loosely.

that said, i fully understand that i bring setups at my own risk to these kinds of events, but at some point a $10 discount is not worth the risk of losing ~$100 of equipment.

We kinda slacked a little on the setup labeling this time around, but at Big House, we're gonna have all TVs, Cubes, and Wiis labeled and tracked. Label your own 3DSes.

There was someone recording matches with their laptop hooked up to one of the setups near the MIOM stream. Anyone know who this person was or where I can find their vids?

Yep, one of the local smashers (Ant) graciously allowed us to use his stream setup as a MIOM stream. I hope to get the vids split up as soon as possible and uploaded on umsmash most likely (computer reboot issues slowin me down at the moment) but if you can't bear to wait, the VOD is right here: http://www.twitch.tv/meleeitonme/c/4489336.

The matches start a bit into the VOD (a half hour or so) when we decided to switch the stream from the TV in the corner to the Trinitron everyone ended up playing on.

Not from that TV (so none from MIOM). We intended that TV to be the warm-up TV so we didn't care to record anything on it until tons of people just opted to play tourney matches on it anyways and we converted it into another TV for tourney w/ streaming/recording.

Yeah, I know I played a match on the other TV and the stream was on the computer. But I can't find the VOD. It was on day 1.

Thought this would be the right one but it's actually not unfortunately. The recording setup I'm looking for was a couple of TV's over from the Foster and Co/MIOM setup.

Ah, I know what exactly what T.V. you're talking about and I posted a message to the Michigan Melee group to hunt that person down. Hopefully the VOD's are intact, ^_^.
