Old Part of the thread:
You know people are saying Sakurai is going to reveil all the unlockable characters cuz he doesn't want some random guy on the internet to do it? Well if that's true then we would know about all the characters that will be in the game which leads me to my question. Will all starter and unlockable characters be apart of the Subspace story line?

What do you think?

New part of the thread: Well Sakurai as reveiled that most the characters can be unlocked in Subspace. So based on that info, how hard do you think it will be to get unlockables. You think will get atleast half of them in Subspace? Another new question is how long to you think the Subspace story mode is since you don't havta beat Adeventure mode with every character to unlock different things? It seems to me that this may be less challenging to unlock the characters this time around. But I'm sure theres a few that will still be hard to get.

This is Sakurai's quote about Subspace and Unlockables:
You can earn most characters by playing through Adventure Mode: The Subspace Emissary. For those of you who look forward to those encounters, I recommend you clear this mode before playing Basic Brawl.

And as the case has always been, I’ve made it so you can play the characters you unlock in battles.

this is most likely, because it wouldnt make sense to have a character and not use them. however, the last few characters you can unlock will probably have minor roles.

My guess is that the SSE takes the place of All-Star mode in Melee in the sense that you have to unlock everyone before you can go to it.

Either that or certain characters can be unlocked by doing it...

I think that all characters will be unlocked in the SSE, except for really obscure characters that wouldn't fit in the story. (Game and watch? Not wishful thinking, merely a possibility)

I love the fact that most unlockables will be unlocked in SE. This means that unlockables have a chance to be involved in SE! I always say that Sonic & Snake would be starters, after looking at this update, I have to change my mind.

Not all of the characters will be unlocked in SSE. Some, like Falco, will/should be unlocked in their normal fashion. Only the majority of the new comers and third parties, maybe a few veterans, will be unlocked Via Sub Space.

I was pretty worried, if only starters were to appear, SE would be pretty short. But with unlockables appearing, 10 hours won't be long enough

No Internet?!?
I knew he would show all the Unlockables on the Dojo first!

I can't believe people thought he wouldn't!

EDIT:

And I just realized, it doesn't make any difference to me, being PAL..

Yeah, I dont think everyone will get involved then... which might be a little sad. Unless once you unlock a certain character, a random generator would sometimes make the character take the place of another during a certain level? Think the Falco encounter in Melee's Adventure Mode which was only ever possible if you had unlocked Falco first (Falco sometimes replaced Fox in the second fight)...

Anyway, I am almost positive that Jiggs wont be naturally involved in SSE, and would be unlockable by beating Classic on any condition. Its tradition.

Another thing I think is that SSE will have branching paths. Perhaps beating a certain level on a certain difficulty will control this. And then perhaps a character will be unlocked after an encounter where you fight them or have them join your team or beat a level with them...

I guess unlockables join u when u meet them, like Pit meeting Mario. Remember Sonic joins the brawl? I think it's from SE. Sonic's intro in SE.

I don't think it'll be like that. You might get them for beating certain bosses with certain characters. For example, you can unlock Ridley by beating a certain boss with Samus.

anybody else thinik that the 3rd party chars will be the last unlocked. Sakurai said that he thinks as them as a reward. i mean. i not that syked about 3rd partys but i wouldn't be surprised if they were last unlocked. i would think of sonic as a reward... wouldn't you? i'm not gonna race out to unlocked all the characters. i'm gonna take my time to enjoy the game.

Not all of the characters are going to be unlocked by the same method. I'm guessing that some will be unlocked by progressing the story, some by meeting certain specifications (remember Luigi from Melee?), and some by completing the Adventure mode with a specific character or specific amount of characters.

There will no doubt be characters that are unlocked through multiplayer as well (a la Mewtwo in Melee). Besides he only says the majority of characters are unlockable through Adventure Mode, which starts at 51%.

Yeah he uses the word MOST which to me means more than half the characters will be unlocked in Subspace.
