Streaming a tourney: what are the legal terms behind it

What is the legality mumbo jumbo behind streaming a smash tournament? I am hosting one in February and wanted to stream the event as well. I’ve heard it’s one thing to host a tournament and it’s a whole other thing to stream it. Anyone have any leads or can anyone provide some advice?
