During my first run of Pokemon I had traded myself a team composed entirely of Snorlax.

I didn't even bother voting last time.

You know why?

Because "It matters not how many foes he faced. They were no match for his Bodacity!" .

Po (Snorlax) owned Tai-Lung (Entei) and Master Shifu (Mew) without even trying. He is the Dragon Warrior (of Pokemon), so neither Latios' nor Latias' special attacks could have worked against him, because he isn't just any Big Fat Snorlax. He's THE Big Fat Snorlax.

And I don't think that Snorlax would have had any issue against Lugia. Not only can Snolax easily shake off Lugia's powerful attacks, but, again, Let it be known that Snorlax has much better moves that Lugia does. :p .

Snorlax wins this, and wins this tournamet.

Easily.

Hmm...looks like Snorlax got this one in the bag.

I'm satisfied either way, but i'm going to vote for Lugia here.

Lugia has a movie made for it, can fly in there and fire hyper beams at the poor lazy immobile snorlax from complete safety aswell as being able to communicate with humans fly past the speed of sound and swim underwater with relative ease.

Snorlaxes experience with water involve failing to catch fish and chilling in the sun.

Snorlax has loads of health etc but lugia has way more attack power and can use recover, Snorlax loses dude.

Snorlax has appeared in several movies and far more Anime shows than Lugia. Snorlax is capable of siwimming too. Who needs to fly when you're that physically strong? Snorlax has no problem throwing its weight around to dodge Hyper Beams, which would leave Lugia Immobile enough for Snorlax to Crunch, Thunderpunch or Thunderbolt it. Lugia is not Sonic. He can't pass the Sound Barrier. And Snorlax can swim underwater too (just not all whirlpooly). Snorlax can easily power up with Curse and down Lugia with it's strong attacks. And it's good health and special defense means Lugia has a hard time taking it down. Snorlax easily Skadoosh...es... Luiga. No question. Game set and match.

I vote for lugia. In terms of real pokemon, I am fairly sure Lugia would also beat the crap out of Snorlax.
Not true, Likeness.

Again, Lugia lacks special attacks that are Super Effective against Snorlax, while Snorlax has high Special Defense and Hp. He could easily tank a few hits while striking with Cursed Crunches and Thunderpunches.

For example, on the Standard Special Attacking Lugia Set, Lugia's main attack, Ice Beam, only does 26 damagae max to the standard Curse Snorlax. 26 out of 503. Snorlax is doing around 104 damage back with an un powered up, no item boosting Crunch. 104 out of 416 hp.

While the fight would last much longer than most normal fights would, Snorlax would easily come out on top. Lugia would have to Whirlwind it away and hope it doesn't appear again and beat it. Snorax definitely has the advantage.

I tend to run the Trick Set of Lugia and I think that would screw Snorlax over. :) Although I agree that a standard Snorlax will probably beat a standard lugia, I try to run novelty sets (Trick + Choice Specs is always good for other Ubers). Reflect is always good to soften the blow along with toxic if isn't running a Sleep Talker set. Recover/Roost stalls Snorlax and can let toxic do its work. Taunt could also work although it isn't a really good move for Lugia.

This isn't a Pokemon matchup discussion.

Could Lugia beat Snorlax?

Sure, a good deal of the time, Lugia would win.

Is Lugia better?

Hell no. Snorlax/Goldeen; 2012
