Before I really got into the competitive aspect of this game I played a lot of single player, going for high scores and stuff. I played a lot of HRC, event matches, multi man melee, but the one thing I enjoyed the most was in fact speedrunning different parts of the game, like adventure mode. This isn't a really known category when it comes to high score hunting compered to pretty much every other mode in the game, unfortunately. Below I've linked to two of my stronger times. Both are WR as of upload.
Anyway, did any of you spend a lot of time in the single player modes before moving to vs. mode? Do you think playing single player helped you becoming a better player (competitive), or would you have been better if you only had played versus from the beginning?
Personaly I think I would have been a lot better by now if I hadn't played the single player modes as much as I have and focused more on vs. mode. I have a pretty decent knowledge about every character and know a lot of really neat tricks thanks to the single player modes, but most of the stuff I know isn't really relevant against other players. Using the c-stick is also kinda awkward for me today because I got used to doing all of my aerials with A and the control stick, which is a shame.
