How do you play as Sonic on Wifi ? I hate Wifi with a passion now. It slows down Sonic to a crawl...AGH NINTENDO WHAT WENT WRONG?!?!? I can shield cancel like crazy offline, I can short hop bairs, do fakeouts, everything. On wifi, forget it! I quit AIB ladder because almost every character I play as I can't play the same way online.

I don't play Sonic unless I'm sure the connection is going to be reasonable, no point in trying to get better in an environment that doesn't matter.

For that, I use Ike insteadm, who is much easier to work with than Sonic.

Green connections+ for the win.

Yellow is no good, unless you're just practicing baiting / punishing airdodges, ledge actions, rolls, and just practicing prediction, but green and blue connections are the best.

Otherwise, go play a secondary if you don't wanna be pissed off.

Took me long enough to realized Wifi isn't good for competitive Brawl. :o

I like how the connection bar doesn't really help half the time either. The only way you'll find out if you have lag is to be in the match, which you probably just spent a while trying to get into

I quit Sonic on wi-fi earlier this week.

Only if the connection is sex sauce.

Like Boxob or Nape.

Tenki is the only laggy person I'll play. <3

My connection is actually pretty decent on yellow/red, lol. It's not THAT laggy, it's more like there are spikes of input lag and what not.
But yeah, I hate wifi too. You know why we all hate wifi as sonic? Because we're a punish based character, and that takes some precision which wifi totally kills.

I pretty much summed it up a while ago.

I'll be glad to prove you wrong. Despite G&W sucking massively on wifi.

Yes, G&W sucks a lot on wifi. He relies on tight spacing, which is ruined by wifi lag.
Cry me a river. Seriously, my heart bleeds for you.

I'm sure your long ranged attacks with longlasting hitboxes and fast, decently ranged KO moves suffer a lot.

Whilst a character with subpar range, needs to be precise, has awkward kill moves, and depends on timing things right as they're a character who's whole game revolves around punishment fares sooo much better, right?

I'd go as far as to say that Sonic on wi-fi becomes the worst character in the game.

Which is probably why the majority of smashboards think he IS.

**** wi-fi users.

I love Sonic in Brawl, but I'd say your pretty on the mark with Sonic on Wifi. He requires more control and precise timing than any other character to pull off his best techniques (Sigh) maybe the next Super Smash Bros will get it right. Thank heaven for offline matches and tourneys.

Does anyone else find G&W harder than MK for Sonic? Offline or On. I personally do against an experienced player.
Yes, online.

At least, when you run into MK's attacks, they don't kill you at a ridiculously low % unless you get caught with lag DI.

dumb question: How can you tell what color your connection is?
After you play the person, look on the upper right corner of their name box and there should be a colored circle. The color of the circle is the 'description' of your latency. That is, the delay between your input and the movement you see.

However, this doesn't take into account framerate slowdown at all. You can have blue connection with someone and still have noticeably slower frame rate, and on the upside, have orange/red connection and near-normal framerate o-O;

I can't play Sonic very well online. All his aerials become SIGNIFICANTLY slower and its so much harder to throw people. Can't shield cancel as well as offline. Short hopped bairs are almost impossible. Sonics one of the few characters where already horrible lag becomes a nightmare.
That other sonic thread was bumped by me for you. Here's the real thread though that you need to read:

Specific to Sonic
http://allisbrawl.com/forum/topic.aspx?id=17002

To demonstrate that Sonic is no special online wifi case:

Wifi Input lag and reasons for difference in general
http://www.smashboards.com/showthread.php?t=212954&highlight=wifi+frames+input
Numbers don't lie> http://www.smashboards.com/showthread.php?t=187649&highlight=wifi+frames+input

The type of problems you're having won't change when you play as other characters. If you're upset about online play in general fine. You are describing your own inability to play online probably from lack of practice. Things are harder to punish online and Sonic is a punish character. It is difficult for him to force anything against pretty much the entire cast... and that goes for both on and offline.

So stop complaining everyone.
