Hmmm, this thread's been fun to lurk, I might as well post in here I guess :)

O HAI I'm infzy, I like exploring Brawl, like how the physics and priority systems and such work..... I actually enjoy just running around stages in training mode + stuff...... but 1v1s are awesome too. I'm a decent Sonic, but definitely not very good by smashboards standards, and I'm "low tier" in my city.

I main Sonic because I was so excited they were putting him in Brawl.... and when I found out he's a pretty lousy character with boring moves and tedious mechanics and unfortunate glitches, AND he underplayed........ I decided to main Sonic as something of a personal vendetta against Sakurai, because he ruined Brawl hardcore in so many ways.

Sonic's moveset disappointed me so much, for so long..... but now my expectations for Sonic are so low that I actually get excited by learning new minute details about his spindashes and stuff.

Uhmmmmmm.... o an I like steak amidoinitrite!?

Honestly I know that if I was doing Sonic's move and mechanics he would be way better but so far the way nintendo made Sonic was sad.

its so annoying because everytime i play i see tiny little tweaks that could have made him way better.
examples

make down smash begin five frames faster and make it that if you block the first part, you can still get hit by the last part (that part of d smash bugs the hell outta me.)

give up tilt less lag.

give jab more hitstun and 1% more damage per jab.

give me a way to cancel HA ending lag (ive been trying this for months and got nothing.)

let airial side b and iSDJ always have a hitbox.

dont let people tech down throw.

let the n air hit more than once, a la metaknight.
just tiny stuff that would have easily made him a much better character, but not broken

Yeah but I would change the moves for example his dash attack would be changed into that attack from Sonic Advance 3 when Sonic does his somersault but it had like some kind of energy attack from it would also have 12% damage and more hit back then dash attack also I would give Sonic the ablilty to change into his werehog form similar to Samus and ZSS or like Zelda and Sheik.

Werehog was a single-game gimmick that let most old-school fanboys down. SSBB is the ultimate fanservice game.

It doesn't match :3

True that the werehog was a gimmick but it could come back for example sheik was a 1 game gimmick for Orcarina Of Time but she came back.

As much as I just facepalmed.... srsly, I think Sonic could have just done with a better moveset entirely, with more..... colour. It seemed obvious to me, anyway, they could have just used some of the "shield" items from Sonic 3.... side-B = flame shield, that alone would've been much better. There really isn't any reason to have side-B and down-B as separate attacks; if down-B could shield-cancel the charge, that'd be fine.

*sigh* oh well. I agree with most of what KID said. Comparing MK's Nair to Sonic's, makes me cry.

I'd be pretty happy if you could bounce with the N-air.

Like, AT-style, N-air>footstool.

it'd be so fun, too :bee:

The Werehog is ********. /werehog.

My Sonic is growing by leaps and bounds. I've learned alot from playing Mr. 3000, but I've been trying to make my Sonic an extremely aggressive one that keeps things confusing and hard to guess.

I know even I can give a better move set and I can when I get my job as a video game designer but first thing is first I gotta get my edcuation then I'll bring back Sonic.

EDIT: The only 2 things retarted about him is his voice and he can't change whenever he wanys to.

If you want to play extremely aggressive, you better have the prediction ability to back it up

aggressive + no prediction = Sonic's dash attack not picking up bananas.

steaks to everyone who gets the reference.

The longer I think about it, the more I don't mind Sonic's moveset. It encompasses "Classic" Sonic very well.

Edit: My prediction has gotten much better recently, which is what is allowing me to play Sonic decently at all. Before I'd end up running into attacks I wasn't expecting and looking ********.

Hmm. I've never seen Tenki play. I suppose I have a very good chance of winning since I do play every character in the game not named ZSS pretty well. I'd have the inherent counterpick advantage in that respect assuming we were both of the relatively same skill level.

MINDGAMES
Just as planned.

Excellent. As long as you're not running into attacks without being prepared for them... ;]

:bee: In the grand scheme of things, you should have more experience than I do, so you should win as long as you're competent with your character, Mr Random.

In a Sonic ditto, I might have a chance, just because I know the character that well, so I know what I can take advantage of

edit:
although, if you trained with Mr.3000, then you probably should have a grasp on what you can/can't do as well. If you can beat him, you should be able to beat me XD
I've had a wifi match with someone in Texas, and the only two competent Sonics he's faced were me and 3000. From his description, 3000 should be levels above me, at least, in gameplay :>

I'm more of a coach type ^^; I can pick off when people could be doing things better, but it doesn't necessarily make me better than the people I'm coaching.

I've only ever played one Sonic ditto...it went the full 8 minutes -_-; It was horrendous. At least in Falcon dittos I get to hear manliness.

It was against -Affinity- in a Bi-weekly gimmick tournament. The gimmick was that the first match wasa random ditto, then you counterpicked each other's characters for the next matches. Our first match was a Sonic Ditto that I won by time and the second was me as Link vs his Sheik. I won by Stage Spiking him with my recovery on my last stock even though I couldn't recover. XD

As for Maining Random, I actually don't play Random in tournament too often due to the problems it can cause. I'm just listed as Random because I play upwards of 10 characters in a single tournament so it simplifies things. I do however Main Random in actuallity and play on it most of the time when not in Tournament. I have placed top 8 with just picking Random in a few tournaments though. I've taken 3rd once with it actually and in that one I got Ganondorf 3 times.

Well with random making things complicated that explalins also sorry you got Gannondorf three times he is just one of the worst characters in the roster no offense but bascially he is a Captain Falcon ditto with his moves.

lol

what'd you do, run away from each other the whole time?

Sonic dittos between good/competent players are fun though. It's like, a big trap fest, and it usually ends in 2-5 mins. I've only ever timed out once against a Sonic player, and it was a wifi match - we both kind of went autopilot and were throwing out moves without thinking.

But if even one of them is bad, it's no good, for either of them.

>____>

Last time you demeaned Ganondorf, then I actually got a chance to play you as Ganon and you got killed in the worst ways possible lol.

His moveset is starkly different than Falcon, at least, in usage, and overall, alot more dangerous once he's in range.

then he realized he was up in % and there was a timer and started running away 9.9

A typical recation in a situation like that but if he did run away that means if would have been a Sudden Death Match so it wouldn't matter he would still have high damage.

FYI: In most tournament rules, if the timer runs out, the person with higher damage by the end of the match loses, and Sudden Death doesn't count.

Actually yeah it was mostly just me chasing Affinity. The problem was we'd both be trying so hard not to die that landing kill moves became a problem. The last stock ended at high damage when the timer ran out it was pretty bad.

the way to avoid that is to just keep doing damage moves. the majority of sonics moves have moderate knockback and can kill at higher percentages. so if you keep hitting with spindash combos, airials, and f-tilt eventually they will die from it. f- tilt kills sonic at about 180 from the edge of final D and if all else fails, know the up throw killing percents. sonic should die at about 200 from up throws on final D. with full DI

loll.

That's where familiarity with Sonic would have helped either of you. Because then if one person goes for a kill move, then you could use that window to land one of your own. That's partly why the Sonic dittos I play generally go by quicker - both of us would know Sonic fairly well, so we're not afraid to go for moves that might seem unorthodox to kill. So we both would go for kill moves instead of running away all the time XD.

I've played against worser Sonics and been taken to 160-170%, then just all of a sudden pull a counter-kill on my over-aggressive chaser at 120% lol.

Oh well, good luck whenever you may end up doing that again,

Fun Fact: I killed Affinity's Dedede off the top with Sonic's Usmash the other day. He was at like 260% lol. It was doubles and I spent most of my time focused on his partner, only to realize he'd been ridiculously tanking lol. Anyway I don't think Affinity will ever ever ever play Sonic ever again.

You can just say Inferno. It works. Some people call me Obama once in a while because of my control settings name being that. Some people just call me by my real name which is no secret. But no one ever types the whole thing out repeatedly like that. I don't really have anymore random Brawl facts, considering I think that isn't what this topic is for, and the Sonic boards are cluttered with enough excess spam concerning meat as it is.
