In before lock.

It is a fighter that involves more elements than any other fighter that exists. Lame gamers can't handle these elements, so they say it's a "platformer", but really it's just the most involved fighter ever.

A real platformer is a game where you go from point A to B, and you have to think to figure out how to get there.

It's a 2d game about fighting = Fighting game

is it a traditional fighting game? Not at all, I would say it acts more like a platformer Fighting hybrid, but if you put it under a specific genre it would be fighting.

SSB is an innovative fighting game, and DEFINATELY NOT a Nintendo kiddy game. It combines different elements from other genres to create a type of fighting hybrid that differs greatly from traditional fighters but keeps enough characteristics of the fighter to keep it in the genre.

QFT. Most people are intimidated by smash and what makes mario more kiddy than dante's games? Nothing, they are outlets created for you to have fun.

Really, most of the time the only people who say the game is kiddy are people who have barely or never played the game. . .

Do you all want to know why you havent really seen any kiddy games? Its because they dont exist, most games are designed to appeal to certain people and games are supposed to be for all. Most of all of us were kids (I was a baby) when we started playing games so does that make all games for kids?

This makes me wonder... How does one define a "kiddy" game?

I suppose it's a game that is easy to win, and doesn't require much intelligence. Since Smash is mainly played for its multiplayer, meaning that any one of up to 4 people can win, most of the time people lose. As such, I don't think it fits that definition.

Another definition might be: A game where characters' senses of morality are exaggerated to make enemies unrealistically inhumane, and the heroes as angelically pure. This isn't realistic. But, as the storytelling of SSBB isn't filled with voice-overs, or even text, no classification of a character can be glorified as such.

How else could a game be kiddy? If a character acts in a way that is illogical as such, but strictly for the viewer's benefit. Barney is a good example. Do any characters act like that? Well, some taunt toward the player, like Yoshi, Kirby, and DK. One could make a case that those are kiddy taunts. But most characters don't.

Any other ideas of what could make a game kiddy?

Pooh Bear.....plain and simple...But, There's is no way that Smash could be described as a kiddy game, Belive me, Sakurai would not have put nearly THREE YEARS into the development of what would be realeased as a so-called "kiddy game"

Most players associate fighting games with mindless button mashing in hope that you nail impossible to memorize combos that are different for every single character in the 100+ clone character roster.

Smash is nothing like that, but that's what I love about it.

I'd say it's an "Action" game... cause, you know... the DOJO says that. lol.

But really, it's a platforming-fighting hybrid, I guess. Depends on what part of the game you're looking at.

BTW: Why'd you even consider it kiddy if SOLID SNAKE'S in the game?!

I don't consider Smash a fighting game. I consider Virtua fighter a fighting game. I consider Smash...Smash! It's just it's own type of game.

No, they deserve a

Falcon knee everyone in the nuts
Quote hybrids FTW.

Smash is a game that takes elements from many different series and wraps it in a surprisingly deep fighting game design. First and foremost, though, it's a party game, designed for a bunch of people to chill around their Wii and have some fun bashing the crap out of each other.

Smash Brawl isn't only 1 thing, it's an Online 2-D Fighting Party Action Game...

Oh yeah, you'd have to admit that some characters are a bit kiddy, like Kirby and Dedede...Their OWN games are really easy to play out, but if you compare a Metroid game to Kirby's Dreamland...No 4 year old could ever play the first NES-Metroid to the end, heck some grown up people couldn't make it, HECK EVEN I CAN'T FINISH IT...never tried though...:p

So, Smash is kiddy and not kiddy, it's easy to pick up and play and has many ''colored and fantasy''(kiddy) characters, but it's also a deep game and hard to master and has many ''bad azz''(not kiddy) characters...

Smash is a variety of both and that's what makes the game cool, you can make the child inside yourself smile when looking at Kirby's cute face/body, or you could let the beast inside you do the talking and fight with Snake or Samus...it's all possible!!

This game is a fighting game made FOR the casual crowd. It has special moves performed using only 1 or 2-button combinations, instead of complicated movelists that force you to memorize them, complete freedom of movement(albeit on a 2-D plane), items to help you gain the advantage on the opposition, extra stock lives(which eliminates the use of "rounds") and several original modes that set it apart from the rest of the genre.

However, it can also be enjoyed by hardcore gamers, as it has adjustable difficulty levels, light and heavy characters that can be mastered if they are used correctly and many tactics to help them defeat other players.

If that is not a fighting game, then I do not know what it is.

And for those who believe that the game is entirely childish, they are not quite right.

Before anyone even dares to deem it so need to see Meta Knight, his battleship Halberd, Giga Bowser, Zero Suit Samus(*wink wink, nudge nudge*;)), Solid Snake, the Shadow Moses stage, Ike, Pit, the Castle Siege stage, Fox, the Lylat Cruise stage and the Subspace Emissary adventure mode. There is even some crude humor thrown in for good measure(Wario Waft, anyone?). Also, there is no need to mention the abundance of mild violence seen by the players during gameplay. As such, the game has a T rating!

If any misinformed individuals believe otherwise, then they truly are living in a black-and-white world.
