I will do shoutouts and such later.....

To ed/charles:

Uchica says he left his camera at the venue, it's a red camera and he's wondering if you can collect it for him.

This tournament would not have happened without Gary, Kate and Charles help. It was a complete team effort. Im hugely appreciative of all their help.

Also; Sam (Koop), Sam (Beast), Mike (Swizzy), Joe (JO3), Brad (Brado) and Jam (Jam5) as they helped with tvs, serving of food and cleaning of plates etc which I also appreciate immensely.

That's actually the first time i've done commentary lol....

I want to do it again cos it's fun and I enjoy doing it and as long as everyone approves then I will definitely do it again....I can do it on a serious note or just have fun like with the one at Armada's vs Fuzzyness thing or a bit of both.....either way I want to do it again lol.

brilliant tournament especially for having showers, a bed and cooked meals :).

Thanks to Ed for making the whole thing possible. Well done in doubles to you and Jam as well  old school haha

Just a few other mentions-

Faab- really funny guy. Was great talking to you and playing you even though your falco is a little too much for me at the moment. Makenshi's stories were too funny

other Dutchies- cool bunch of guys but annoying to play against cos your all really good :0

1 can calzum- make sure you drink plenty of water

Willz- :( but good games. Even if I could have played better you played better in our pools match so don't think you didn't deserve the win.

Monty- even though you are clearly not very good at this game :bee::bee::bee: you are always a laugh and seriously you just make it a better tournament when your there

Charles- Well done!! But it's a shame you didn't place higher. Those SDs were quite bad and you had chances vs Zgetto as well. Well done running the tournaments as well

LJ- Definitely improving a lot. I don't know why but for some reason in this tournament you seemed a little bit tense. When I was talking to you or playing you I almost felt as if I'd said something to annoy you?

Mind trick- you're a really cool and friendly guy :). Was great playing you (esp since I happened to be playing really well then )

j3ly:

it appears me jo3 and swizzy are the best placements outside of the uk top 3

27th & 25th, should easily top that next time, uk needs to step it up!1

very dissapointed at the playstyle of the average european. extreamly, extreamly campy. u guys are going to destroy the UK's style in favour of autocancel - tilt, autocancel - tilt, again + tilt.. over and over + tilt.... never approach - wavedash back TR tilt......

Jo3 placed 17th, the same as Prof. Large tournament are always going to see more campyness in play, people want to place as well as they can.

Good **** Vincent! Joanna Dark, Smasher89 and Tero surely are a good start. Next time try not losing to Faab though ;)
He knew, like, anything I tried to do so I couldn't really aim to win the set :D. But thanks anyway man!
Also, Kone and Fuzzy, huge thanks for all your work! Awesome tournament!

My impression
First of this was a lot of fun. Nice venue, beds to sleep in, lot's of tv's and tourney finished on time (even though the losers finals was bo5). Too bad about the money issues at the end, some sleeping place issues and that the announcement were hard to hear (I blame accent and the speakers).

For a first big tournament I think UK delivered. Sleeping accomodation was a big plus but next time I hope it is organized better. My team mate/driver (Ace) didn't have a bed even though he paid for it cause apparently some guys took bed's which they didn't pay for! Keeping a list of who is sleeping where would have prevented this. I also never heard the wake up whistles. The meals where decent if you consider they didn't cost much. I'm already happy that we got something to eat ^^

Good to see the rules of play, schedule and house rules hanging on every meter of the wall. Too bad there was still confusion about bo5's and stage banning. But you prevented a lot of confusion by hanging these on the wall. I also think tv's were managed pretty well. It seemed to get messier as we got to the end of the bracket but wasn't much of a problem by then. I think fuzzy could use a bit more help next time though since it seemed he ran most of the tourneys by himself.

Also props for the recording setups. Ofcourse AJP did his thing but you also had a projector etc so everyone could watch. There were some issues with the signal at times, we gotta find a way to prevent the beamer from influencing the signal on the tv & recording setup, but it was already a big plus that we could watch on a bigger screen.

Too bad we didn't finish crews. I blame both countries for this!

All in all I think SNY1 went well. Learn from the mistakes for the next time ^^

Shouts to staff and crew
Shout outs to Kone and crew: We didn't talk much but there also wasn't much need. You seemed to have a lot under control. Lunch/ dinner times lasted long enough that everyone could eat and I didn't have much problems with the venue. Heck we had a SHOWER! Thanks for all the hard work you have done both before, during and probably after SNY1.

Shout outs to Fuzzy: You seemed to do most of the running on your own but despite that we finished nicely on time. Get some help next time regarding annoucements. Think you did well in bracket as well. I dunno if your happy with your result yourself. Thanks for running the tournament ^^

Shout outs to players, friends etc
Dutchies:
Faab: Good job getting 3rd man and 2nd in teams!

Shino: Thanks for sharing your singing skills during the trip. Do something with the advice we gave you on the way back ^^.
Thomaz: Always a pleasure. Thanks for the food during the trip.

Smak: Thanks for the feedback!

tch what is up with those LC guys

firstly we have 1 can calzum getting wasted, Willz pussying out of my money match after trash talking about it and brad talking big about himself before I ***** him 3-1 in a money match, only winning one because i forgot to ban/strike dreamland.. Mr Otter was pretty cool though so props to him. also losing the crew battle while we still hadn't used our best player was pretty lol :bee:

Thanks for the feedback Ryuker. You raise some points that I would like to address and was going to address regardless. Keep reading ;)

Firstly, I would just like to thank everyone for coming to the tournament. The turnout was very good for this being the first SNY and yes I shall be hosting a second. However, I would like to rename the tournament Smash Camp (SC) as proposed by Wiggum et al. Charles could you edit everything with SNY to Smash Camp lol. I have provisionally booked the venue for August next year but this time it is over a weekend. Can't remember the date though lol will email the owner to get it.

Massive thanks go to Charles, Gary and Kate. As a four person team we covered every element that I think a successful tournament needs. Venue management, tournament co-ordination, techinical support and kitchen provision. I don't think with any of these four missing this tournament would've been so good.

The work that SDB did in regards to moving tvs and helping in the kitchen is also greatly appreciated. My last post said who this was but thought I would mention it again. Cheers for pulling together lads ^_^

Thanks to anyone that helped me during the tournament or even just offered help. I remember everyone who offered their help even when not needed and will always offer mine in the future. Thankyou!

In terms of issues that occurred at the venue and improvements I am just going to make a list of what I am going to implement at Smash Camp 2. Please remember this was the first time I had attempted a tournament of this size so don't be that critical lol. We learn from our mistakes.

1. Bedrooms. Will be allocated prior to the tournament occurring and people will already know what bedrooms they are to be in. I will get the keys for the rooms prior to the tournament starting and lock doors. Keys will then be handed out in a formal introduction to the tournament/registration that will happen alot earlier than it did at this tournament. I did not do this as I had no clue with what the bedroom layout was. There were no floorplans and the venue owner was very vague with this. Im sure you all noticed how maze like the venue was and can appreciate the difficulty this caused. Lastly, I got into the venue later than expected due to the road leading to the venue being closed.

2. Food. Obviously the portions of the meals were on the small side and quality was so-so. But, I seriously don't think anyone can truly appreciate how difficult it was in the kitchen. Oven was not very good for preparing food for 100+. Next year we will learn from the mistakes made and hopefully will be able to provide a greater choice in meals, proper vegetarian option, better portions and greater quality. There maybe a increase in food price though as I lost money on this.

I am also going to implement some form of rotation on clean up duty. Be it by everyone having to do it at some point, volunteers or money of the tournament if you help. After being in the kitchen for hours then having to clean up for hours it really zapped my energy for the tournament itself.

I would also like to point out that most people were respectful with their dishes. However, some people left their plates on the tables or didn't scrape leftover food into the leftover food pan. That is just plain rude :/. I also didn't hear enough people saying thank you at the hatch when served their food or saying thank you to Kate. I noticed those that did and once again it will be remembered. Thank you!

3. Money The pot was limited by myself for the use of a van I had hired. I had posted on smashboards this maybe the case and infact I took alot less money that I actually lost on this tournament. There does seem to be some form of money missing though over what I took which is disappointing. I also think some cokes/red bulls went missing over night in the kitchen. Next year this will be easily rectified by the kitchen being locked and purchsing a proper money box.

Other than the three major points above I am going to make improvements through;

1. Checking tvs before the tournament and labelling how to set them up. So that tvs aren't wasted.

2. A proper tuck shop set up in the hall.

3. A van rented during the entire tournament proceedings for the movement of equipment.

4. Renting a PA system. Mic and amp aren't good enough imo.

5. Ensuring that the bed linen owned by the venue can be accessed by us.

Hopefully this will improve the overall tournament experience.
