I was looking around, and this isn't an uncommon thing to happen to vbulletin sites. Some people were left vulnerable because of SQL injections allowed by 3rd party mods on vbulletin.

jokes aside, overall we found where the exploit was, and promptly removed it at once. In addition I'm going to be checking through certain things on the site to make sure nothing of that magnitude can happen again

I don't know if this is related to the hacking or not, but when I tried to log in just now I still wasn't logged in after getting redirected back to the main page. The second time I tried to log in it worked like normal.

This has never happened to me before so I thought it's worth mentioning.

Anyone else remember how the site started working again after being hacked, but then was quickly hacked again?

Yeap. So as best as I can describe it what happened was this exploit would plant the looping video file. So even though the dev guys took the first one down and cleaned it up, it only took a short time for the vb exploit to accessed and the script to plant another file. It was not until we updated everything and closed to root write access that could that no longer happen.
