Smashboards Rankings Update #2 : Point Changes, Rank Changes and more!

Welcome to the second episode in Smashboards Ranking updates! In episode one, we discussed the basics of the Rankings System. This included how rank is calculated, tournament categories, and Rankings Staff openings [which are still open but more on that later]. During this iteration of the Rankings Update we will cover two topics: Point Distribution for Categories and the current standing for each game after the most recent influx of tournaments we have had in the past two weeks! So without further ado, let's begin!

Table of Contents
I. Point Distribution for Categories
II. [Melee Rankings] Armada at the top!
III. [Project M Rankings] Do the shuffle!
IV. Brawl?!
V. Smash 64 and Smash 4
VI. Closing Statements

  • Online: 0 points
  • Locals: Minimum 40 points, Maximum 480 points
  • Regional: 600 points

As we all know, The Big House 5 was an incredible tournament. Competitors fought their hardest to get into the top eight and at the end of the day Armada took both the Melee Singles and Melee Doubles events (Doubles alongside his brother Android). Armada's impressive performance, and the absence of Leffen, meant that Armada was able to take the #1 spot in the Smashboards Rankings for Melee. However, that's not the end of the story! Hungrybox was also able to inch forward, taking the third place spot that previously belonged to Mango. Shroomed was also able to claw his way up to top 10! Below you will find the current top 10 for the Smashboards Melee Rankings!

Project M had an amazing run at Paragon 2015! And of course, the results in said tournament have shifted the Rankings. Most notably, MrLz climbs from the sixteenth to the fourth place of the Project M Smashboards Rankings, Oracle moves from seventeenth to ninth, and iPunchKidsz goes from fourteenth to fifth! That's not the end of the story though as Project M was the game with most fluctuation in ranks during the past few weeks.

We also saw some shifts in Smash 64, and Smash 4. For both games we note that the top 10 maintain their placings. However, the top 30 shows another story.
  • In Smash 64, we saw Cobrevolution and Nintendude climb higher, taking both the 21st and 22nd positions respectively.
  • Smash 4: a lot of shifts in the top 30. Most notably, Abadango takes the 17th spot while Fatality (23rd), Ranai (25th), and TheReflexWonder (28th) also increase their ranks.

It's been a wild ride. There have been some significant changes from the start of the overhaul of the Rankings System to where we are now. The Rankings are an ever evolving process which begs the question... Will the top 10 players of each game be challenged for those top spots? What new features will be implemented to the Rankings System? Make sure to catch all this and more on the next episode of the Smashboards Rankings Update Z.

The Smashboards Rankings Staff has worked hard to bring you this update. Be sure to follow them on Twitter, and use #SBRanks when referring to the new system!

I pretty sure a good chunk of the top melee players have managed to get themselves banned from here at some point.
