Smashboards Ownership/Lifespan

Hello there! I used to be an active member of these forums many years ago, mostly hanging out in the Forum Games section but occasionally in other areas as well. I stopped going on the forums years ago, but came back yesterday and started lurking around out of a need for information on forum Mafia (one of the games I played on here years ago). After reading some threads, I read that the forums were sold or something. Looked around for information, but all I found was that Gideon sold them to MLG, who sold them to another dude. What I'd like to know is this: why, specifically, did this series of events happen? I'm not judging anyone, just curious what happened.

Since this is the "general topics" area, I figured this would be the most appropriate place to post this. If anyone wants to move this to a different area, feel free. Also, I'm happy to see that Smashboards/Smashworld is alive and kicking after such a long stretch of time! Most forums kick the dust after just a few years, if not sooner (anyone who's ever ran Invisionfree probably knows what I'm talking about =P).

Anyway, no matter who owns this place, I hope these forums last even longer!

Basically, MLG bought the site and ran it for a while, but Alphazealot, one of the admins, bought it from them last year.
