A character strongly associated with Nintendo but not currently owned by them

I have a certain idea I'm ready to drop should this be the winner, hehe.

Repealing this for something different and less business-related

As of now, we're mostly done with Jack Frost (missing only a few aesthetic details--including the Boxing Ring title and Classic Mode, which I forgot to mention lol--and the reveal trailer), so I think it's time to move on to Challenger Pack 3!

As a reminder, the canonical CP3 was...
  • Banjo and Kazooie.
  • Announced at E3 2019.
  • Popularly considered a parallel/counterpoint to fellow E3 2019 reveal Hero.
It's time to come up with a prompt for our CP3. Think of something that would apply to Banjo and Kazooie, allow for a big E3 reveal, and ideally fill a niche or appeal to an audience that Jack Frost wouldn't touch! (On a personal level, I'd also appreciate it being a first party; I won't mandate this, but I really don't want our game to have more third parties than canon Ultimate DLC.)
A character from a platforming series not yet represented in Smash Bros.

I say this because there's a lot of potential here, but it keeps with the whole Banjo angle. Acting as a counter to Jack Frost/Hero representing turn based RPGs in a sense, this is more of a "scrimblo bimblo" pick of sorts.

Looks like we're gonna be engaging in some necromancy this time! Challenger Pack 3 will be from a series that has not had a new release since before 2010. Guest appearances and merchandise don't count, though the less of those in recent times the better. If a pre-2010 game received any significant content updates in 2010 or later, it will not qualify.

When submitting a character, it is suggested (though not required) to also explain how they fill a niche or appeal to an audience that would not have been satisfied by Jack Frost.

Wario Land

When Wario was revealed for Super Smash Bros. Brawl, many dreams were shattered as Wario's moveset was based mostly on the WarioWare series of games, showing the greedy anti-hero's vulgar side as opposed to his gruff-and-rough side... now some time has passed and people are used to Smash's slobby Wario, yet the demand still remains for the "original iteration" of Wario to appear, and that's what we're going to give - with no expense to the existing Wario moveset or its fans. (I am aware this is the same character but portrayed in different way, do not worry - same applies to Dr. Mario or ZSS)

Under the name of Wario Land, this second Wario version would appeal to the devoted Nintendo fans who got Smash where it is - unlike Jack Frost and PaRappa who both appeal more to specific audiences. Also, it'd give us an extra job to design the new biker alts to replace normal Wario's plumber outfits!

Doc Louis (Punch Out!!)

Little Mac's Trainer and an all around swell guy. Doc Louis would be a fun pick and can bring some new mechanics and attacks that could differentiate himself from Little Mac.

Nathan Radd Spencer (Bionic Commando)

Nathan Radd Spencer is main character of Bionic Commando game. He is a person, who has Hook on his arm and he grapples to anything.

His moveset could use stuff from Bionic Commando like His Grappling arm or even something different like Shooting Projectiles. Due to fact that franchise is not that big, he could use other fighting moves from other games like Jab could originate from Captain Commando or etc.

Porky Minch (Earthbound/Mother)

Good old Porky! Porky Minch is the supporting antagonist of EarthBound and the main antagonist of Mother 3. Porky would of course fight in his mech, where he could use attacks from his boss fight, as well as other attacks from the Pigmask Army. Porky would appeal to hardcore Nintendo fans, something we didn't get much of in the fighters pass.

Porky Stage: Seventh Needle Mines
Untitled.png

Since we already have New Pork City as the ultimate Porky stage, let's go for something a bit more visually distinct--the final area of Mother 3 (don't worry, no story spoilers will be included in this description). An underground cavern seeping with eerie purple energy, this would allow for a visually distinct and interesting stage. Minerali and Fenomeno can occasionally be seen roaming the background.

The layout would consist of two floating rock platforms, between which would be a soft platform resembling the location's bridges.

  • Attributes
    • Porky rides in a smaller version of his Mother 3 mech (something like this). He is heavy and slow, but can jump deceptively high.
  • Basic attacks
    • Neutral attack: Porky stabs with a front leg of his mech. Can lead into a rapid-jab.
    • Dash attack: Porky launches forward with a burst of exhaust from the back of the mech.
  • Tilts
    • Forward tilt: Porky shoots three yellow squares forward.
    • Up tilt: Porky slashes a leg upward.
    • Down tilt: Porky shoots a blast of electricity along the ground.
  • Smash attacks
    • Forward smash: Porky reaches two front legs out, then separates them in a "tearing apart" motion.
    • Up smash: Porky summons a ball of electricity above the mech.
    • Down smash: Porky has the mech slam downward, causing a shockwave that hits both sides.
  • Aerials
    • Neutral aerial: Porky turns to face the camera and thrusts each leg outward.
    • Forward aerial: Porky shoots a small lightning bolt forward.
    • Back aerial: Porky releases a burst of exhaust from the back of the mech that lingers for a second.
    • Up aerial: Porky jabs two legs above the mech as those legs are electrified.
    • Down aerial: Porky fires a lightning bolt downward from the bottom of the mech.
  • Grab & Throws
    • Grab: Porky grabs with the mech's two front legs.
    • Pummel: The legs tighten around the opponent.
    • Forward throw: The mech thrusts forward, swinging the main body into the opponent.
    • Back throw: The mech spins around and throws the opponent in that direction.
    • Up throw: The mech throws the opponent upward.
    • Down throw: The mech slams the opponent into the ground three times.
  • Specials
    • Neutral special: Mecha-Porky
      • Porky deploys a Mecha-Porky that walks back and forth, turning around when hitting a wall or ledge. The Mecha-Porky damages any opponents it touches, and when side-B is hit again, it dives forward before exploding.
    • Side special: Gas Discharge
      • Porky charges up before releasing a cloud of gas forward. The cloud deals minor damage, but also decreases targets' attack power for an amount of time depending on how long it was charged.
    • Up special: Mech Hover
      • The mech's legs retract as it starts to hover (similar to Propellerpack). Porky can hit B at any point to release a burst of electricity at the cost of immediately ending the hover.
    • Down special: PSI Counter Device
      • Porky uses an artificial PSI Counter that covers the mech. It reflects projectiles and acts as a multihit attack.
  • Final Smash: Devil's Machine
    • Porky summons a device resembling the end of the Cave of the Past (top right here). It slams down onto the ground, damaging any opponents it lands on. Said opponents, and any others close enough, are sucked inside as Porky laughs. A cinematic plays of the victims floating in a frightening red-and-black space as bolts of energy attack them until they are sucked into a red vortex. If any opponents are at 100% before the final hit, they are instantly KO'd.
Still working on a music list.

Porky Music List
  1. Battle With a Flippant Foe
  2. Yucca Desert
  3. Your Name Please
  4. Battle Against a Weak Opponent
  5. Sanctuary Guardian / Kraken of the Sea
  6. The Floating Kingdom of Dalaam
  7. Pokey Means Business
  8. Bothersome Guys
  9. Mischievous Blues
  10. Volcano! Inferno!
  11. Battle Against The Masked Man (begins with the intro of Pulling of the Needles)
Fun fact: EarthBound is the only universe to have 100% remixes for its songs (not counting universes folded into "Other" music). I'm keeping that. :4pacman:

Probably won't start voting tonight.
