We all remember the PipeWorks Godzilla video games, right? That hella awesome trilogy where we get to play as our favorite Kaiju and cross paths with one another? Ah yes, those were the memories. Sadly though, since then we've got only mobile games and a rather lackluster PS4 release. I believe it's time we fixed that.

In this thread, we'll be building a video game worthy of the Godzilla name. A mighty game where you once again rampage throughout cities and throw hands with other giant monsters of caliber. Together, we'll figure out which kaiju, cities, and game mechanics will be brought into the fray and shoot for making this the greatest hypothetical Godzilla video game ever.

Initial Announcement Roster:
Godzilla
Rodan
Mothra
King Ghidorah
King Kong
Mechagodzilla

Initial Stages:
Tokyo
New York
San Francisco

Kaiju Announcements:
Biollante
Gigan
Megalon
Hedorah (New)
MUTO (New)

Stage Announcements:
Monster Island
Mothership
Hollow Earth (New)
Las Vegas (New)

New Mechanics:
Red Bamboo by Glubbfubb

Jobs are coming soon, so sit tight!

Job #1:
Submit upwards of 2 returning kaiju and 2 newcomer kaiju to add to the roster. While there is a lot of kaiju that were added to Godzilla Unleashed, there's still a sizeable number of giant monsters to pick from that weren't added to that game.

EDIT: There's now a poll for the style of the game.

Returning Kaiju: Gigan
1617899871434.jpeg

One of the many well known kaiju and the first to make Godzilla bleed, Gigan makes his return. Gigan will have 3 main forms, being the Showa, Final Wars and Chainsaw form. Gigan also has a new move, being the disk launch attack (from Final Wars) which would be quite a deadly weapon if used up close. Overall, Gigan should defiantly return in this game.

New Kaiju: Monster X
1617900074995.jpeg

Originating from Godzilla Final Wars, Monster X was one of Godzilla’s final opponents in that film. Monster X’s Abilities include levitation and eye beams, but he is also an expert in Melee attacks. Monster X can transform into Keizer Ghidorah, who is even larger. Keizer Ghidorah can fire gravity volts, but he also can drain energy by biting opponents. Overall, Monster X being in a Godzilla fighting game is long overdue, but I wonder how the Keizer Ghidorah transformation could work in this game.

Returning Kaiju: Space Godzilla
33C6746E-EA14-40A9-AFFA-546C393CF36F.jpeg

Space Godzilla first appeared in Godzilla vs Space Godzilla. Space Godzilla is one of Godzilla’s most powerful enemies. Space Godzilla is bulkier and taller than normal Godzilla and is covered with crystals. He can emit aura to cause electrical disturbances, he has a corona beam, he can increase his own power by the crystals he can spawn, conduct energy through touch, fly and shield himself by encasing himself in crystals, and telekinesis. I think Space Godzilla should return.

New Kaiju: Ebirah
CB2E122B-AF69-4505-B379-D4085D373E43.jpeg

Ebirah first appeared in Ebirah: Horror of the Deep (AKA Godzilla vs. The Sea Monster). Ebirah is a giant red lobster. He has multiple legs, spikes covering his back, and one claw bigger than the other. He has appeared as a boss before in Godzilla: Save the Earth, but never as a playable character. I think it’s time for Ebirah to finally make it on the roster after all these years.

My submissions are:

RETURNING: Biollante:
1617986198638.png

The plant kaiju with close ties to the King of the Monsters himself, Biollante was a force to be reckoned with. She was made from a rose being spliced with the DNA of a famous scientist's daughter, and later the DNA of the Big G himself. Biollante was planned to be a playable character in Save the Earth, but was scrapped, although she would make a full-on playable debut in Godzilla: Unleashed.

NEW: Manda:
1617986661017.png

A sea serpent kaiju, Manda is a monster that has surprisingly never made it into a Godzilla game as a playable character. He made his debut in the old film Atragon, where it was a guardian of the kingdom of Mu. Despite being a sea serpent, it's been known for surviving on land, and has the ability to generate super-powerful sonic bursts. How this serpentine beast was never playable is beyond me, but having this guy playable would be nice.

Returning monster:
Destroyah

X-Plus Toho Series 1995 Destroyah Godzilla Vs. Destroyah 8 Inch Vinyl | ToyArena

Originally appearing in Godzilla vs Destroyah, he came from tiny sea creatures that mutated and grew due to the effects of the oxygen destroyer, the weapon that killed Godzilla in the original film. The sea creatures grew larger and began attacking humans in scenes that look like they came straight from a horror film. Eventually they combined to form the monstrosity that you see above. Looking like the devil incarnate, Destroyah is one of Godzilla's most ferocious enemies. He is equipped with a katana horn, an oxygen beam, a sharp tail, the ability to fly, and the ability to shoot a ball which sends his enemies flying, a feature that was only in the PipeWorks trilogy. Overall, he is one of Godzilla's most memorable foes and is generally popular in the fanbase.

New:
Hedorah

Hedorah - Wikipedia

This disgusting beast originated from Godzilla vs Hedorah, or Godzilla vs The Smog Monster. It's a divisive film due to it being hands down the weirdest Godzilla film of all time. It has Godzilla fighting literal pollution, a guy imagining people with fish heads, Godzilla straight up flying, and on top of it all it has an anti-pollution message, topped off with a opening song titled "Save the Earth." It's certainly experimental, but one thing's for sure, Hedorah is probably one of the more requested characters to be in a Godzilla fighting game. He can fly and can throw all kinds of toxins which could give him a unique poison mechanic. His design certainly stands out and he would represent the odd side of Godzilla's history. Hedorah did appear as a playable fighter in Godzilla Battle Legends but hasn't been playable in an official fighting game since then so it's about time he gets the spotlight again.

I never played any godzilla fighting game so I have no idea how its played but its a godizlla fighting game so I have a new location idea

Hollow Earth (Monsterverse)
With the Monsterverse being big hits it's only natural that a stage based on it will happen, Hollow Earth main gimmick is that it's well hollow, their are tunnels that can warp you to different parts of the stage and some platforms can cave in due to being hollow, Leafwings and small Skullcrawlers act as minor annoyances and you can destroy the nearby Apex lab

Again never played a godzilla fighitng game but it sounds fun so I made a new location

Returning: Monster Island
1619153288031.png

A stage I am absolutely dumbfounded I didn't put in the initial roster, Monster Island has been in the game since Save the Earth, and is a big part of Godzilla lore. I should be ashamed of myself for not including it initially, but this is my way of amending that.

New: Ho Chi Minh City, A.K.A. Saigon
1619153647563.png

I have a confession to make: as far as I know, I'm the only Smashboards user who has ever been to Vietnam (I even went to Trang An, the place where they filmed Kong Skull Island). Ho Chi Minh City, known by some as Saigon, was a beautiful city to go to, and there was some little sadistic part of me that wants to rampage through it as Godzilla. It's big, it takes place in a town that hasn't been in a Godzilla game before! Ho Chi Minh City really hits all the marks for me.

Returning Stage: Sydney

1619206568350.jpeg

Returning from Godzilla Unleashed, Sydney will be another stage around. The big difference is that their will be more buildings and the climate will be like Sydney’s main climate today. Also there is water to wade around.

New Stage: Las Vegas

1619206832088.jpeg

A Stage That was cut from Godzilla: Save the Earth and appeared in Godzilla 2014, Las Vegas is a City filled with lots of casinos, structures and hotels to destroy. You can even use the structures as a Melee Weapon.

Results are in: Monster Island and Hollow Earth will be our next announced stages! Moving on to Job #3:

Propose a new mechanic to come into play during matches! In the Pipeworks games, we had mechanics such as power-ups and weaponized buildings! Well, what else can we add to spice up the gameplay? Sound off, everybody!

I have an idea for a new Mechanic

Job 3

Underwater battles.

Given that several Kaiju including Godzilla are known for their aquatic abilities, so I was thinking the Kaiju could swim underwater for a battle, not just walk in water, but actually swim in it. It will give the Kaiju more room to roam and it makes battles more diverse. Also their will be submarines that will attack Kaiju underwater and some whales nearby as well.

But that is just my idea.

Something like the scenes from King of the Monsters and Godzilla vs Kong where he fights Ghidorah and big monkey underwater?

Job 3:

Military Roulette:

We know that in the Pipeworks trilogy, the military attacks the monsters as they're fighting. However, I feel there's an opportunity to expand upon it: when you select an arena to fight in, there's a brief roulette that picks a specific nation's army or alien race's army to be deployed, each of them having their own specific stats and abilities. For example, the American army has more firepower, meaning more damage, and one of the specific parts of them are the MOP II bombs that deal significant damage to any monster it hits, almost like in Shin Godzilla. Meanwhile, the Black Hole Planet 3 aliens are more fragile but are more difficult to avoid and have robot units to fight with.

Job 3 Red Bamboo

First appearing in Godzilla vs Ebirah this human terrorist group would use special chemicals to diverge Ebirah as a makeshift gaurd dog

Red Bamboo would appear in areas with water due to being a naval organization and would dump yellow chemicals into the water, this chemical can cause harmful random effects such as poisoning the monster, making the controls backwards, or causing certain attacks to harm the player, these ships can be destroyed but if it destroyed by a energy blast it will explode causing yellow chemical to be dumped in a very large circle shaped radius, to properly dispose them you can pick them up and use them as a melee weapon to dump yellow chemical onto other players

Pretty Clever if I do say so myself

The results are in! Red Bamboo will be added to the game, leading by 8 points!

Job #4:
Propose two returning monsters and one new monster. The roster's looking a bit scant anyway, might as well add more.

Returning Megalon
He is a series staple after all, he should be brought back just for that alone.

+

Gigan
Another iconic monster that is associated with the Godzilla Brand, he should be brought back

New Muto
As the first gane to include monsterverse content, having the first orginal Monster verse monster will fit well

They would have a unique mechanic of actually being a duel fighter with the player controlling the female Muto and a CPY controlling a male Muto who helps with combos and supporting the Female

For the newcomer, my Monster X idea above will still stand

1621625060726.jpeg

The ideas I have for him are the same. I have ideas for alternate costumes based off Death Ghidorah.

With that said, here are too of my choices of returning kaiju

Returning Kaiju 1: Anguirus

1621624592702.jpeg

Godzilla’s first opponent and later on one of Godzilla’s most loyal allies, Anguirus makes his return to the game. His attacks will be similar to his unleashed moveset. Also his costumes include 55, Showa and Final Wars version.

Returning Kaiju 2: Moguera

1621624904665.jpeg

Returning from Unleashed, Moguera is ready to rumble once more, complete with saying it’s name and firing all sorts of weapons. But this time, Moguera will have the ability to split into Star Falcon and Land Moguera, allowing Moguera to preform new attacks and combos.
