On a different note, I have a question. We're voting on a "non-fighter stage", but can that series still gain a fighter later on? Because I've got some ideas but I'd like to keep the door open for character submissions down the line. I assume we won't be too strict about that but I just want to know for sure.

Anyway, speaking of stages...

Job 43: Yellow Submarine Voyage (Yellow Submarine)

I really want to give Yellow Submarine a shout, not simply because I'm a huge Beatles fan but because I think it ventures into some untapped territory. Experimental animation, musicals, and I really think we ought to pay more homage to animated film. Of course, Yellow Submarine is a visual spectacle. So much of this stage serves to guide us through a vibrant show of surreal imagery.

Think of the Yellow Submarine functioning like the Great Fox in Corneria, with backgrounds that cycle through the phases of the Beatles' journey akin to the background storytelling of Northern Cave. The Yellow Submarine will pass through the Sea of Time, Sea of Monsters, Sea of Holes and so forth on its journey to Pepperland. Although perhaps it will stop every so often to play with a slight change in terrain. The monsters in the Sea of Monsters can provide temporary platforms for fighters akin to Poke Floats. And the Sea of Holes can throw players into some portal shenanigans. Kinda working with endless possibilities here, but it all happens fighting atop the colorful ship.

I hope I'm understanding this job correctly where we can nominate anything - anime was mentioned, but not in the job title. In any case I think this job should be open to anything, because I don't think we've had one in this vein yet. I actually have a fighter idea for Yellow Submarine down the line (to make it more obvious, it's not one of the Beatles) but for now I think a stage can still channel its colorful, groundbreaking artistry well enough.

Job 44: Ratatouille (Ratatouille)

A small dish with a big kick. In reference to the iconic scene from the movie, digesting Ratatouille gives the fighter an explosion of flavor that revives their health about 70-80%. For a brief period of time, they are also granted heightened strength and speed. Not bad for a peasant's dish.

Also, I want to vote for Train Chase as the Wallace & Gromit stage. Either option is good by me, but that scene from the Wrong Trousers is uniquely iconic and is to me a defining achievement in stop motion animation. I suspect it would work something like Big Blue on a... smaller scale.

Game Central Station (Wreck it Ralph)
We're weirdly lacking in mainline Disney content right now . I considered stages based on Aladdin, the Lion King, Moana and more before I settled on this. Felt appropriate for what we're doing.

It would take place in the main hub, on the floor with three platforms above. During the battle the platforms will start to move and the stage will transport the player to one of three other locations. There's Sugar Rush, which works kind of like the Mario Kart stage from Brawl, with racers rushing through the stage, there's Hero's Duty, which takes place in the middle of a battlefield and will have a swarm of Cy-Bugs rush the stage, then there's Niceland, where Ralph appears in the background (in an 8-bit version, so we can add Ralph later if we wanted to) and starts breaking the buldings, sending bricks flying. It will then rerurn to the main hub. There's no Sonic or Zangeif here but we could have some other cameos.

mononoke, especially on the cinematic scale, is one of the most beautiful pieces of animation i've yet seen - it's also representation for toei which i don't believe we have yet necessarily {??} - i could be wrong though. the stage could and shift and descend through the chambers, with approprirate visual effects accompanying the brawl. perhaps the medicine seller could make an appearance?

The Mononoke stage choice is inspired and, similarly to my pitch, visually spectacular. Game Station is admittedly a little bland for my tastes but I see the vision. I guess I'm not that interested in paying homage to video games right now as opposed to the greater animation medium. Maybe later on.

Edit: Switched Inner Chambers and Yellow Submarine, slipped my mind a moment that I can't rate my own submission as #1.

Other two are fine, the Zombie Bran item is just a little too specific for me where I'm not sure I want to bring The Loud House into the fold yet, lol. These items don't typically get passed up though so I doubt my stance on this will matter all that much. Just feel like the presence of certain things and the relative absence of others is trivializing the greater picture. Maybe it's too early to say. Avatar TLA and, obviously, Pixar are good by me though.

Job 45: WALL-E (WALL-E)

Another Pixar submission by me, to make up for the current lack of roster representation. But these movies are iconic and beloved for a reason. Some people might actually be more inclined to advocate for WALL-E as a full fledged character, but I think given his passive nature this role is more fitting.

He would wander around the stage and pick up grounded items, turning them into cubes. While WALL-E is doing his job, anybody can pick him up and use him as a projectile shield. Physical attacks will still hurt you, and force you to drop WALL-E, but incoming threats will be scooped out of midair and stuffed into WALL-E's belly and once past a certain threshold spat out in boxed form. Think of this something like a permanent Game & Watch Bucket. A waste cube can then be picked up and tossed at opponents for variable damage (depending on what the items and projectiles were).

If you want to be mean I guess you can throw him offstage, but why would you do such a thing?

Mr. Frog is a disgraced tv star who appears in Smiling Friends. While he isn't one of the main characters, he is a pretty memorable character and I think that he could represent the show's unique style of humour pretty well.

He is one of the main characters in the show. He is a prodigy who was initially obsessed with violence, but in the later seasons has been toned down.

Brock Sampson (Venture Brothers)
Wanted to go for something less obvious but still deserving. Venture Brothers is a cult classic show that has a lot of influence, and was a big part of Adult Swims lineup. The bodyguard of the Venture Family. He would use his incredible strength and macho-ness in his moveset, his canon refusal to use guns would also mean he would be a melee and close combat focused fighter.

Genie could even make for a pretty great playable character in my book, but I'm fine with him being an AT. Frankly I think the lamp maybe even ought to be its own item that summons him independently? Or the lamp is this game's version of an AT...? Food for thought.

Job 48: Beavis (Beavis & Butthead)

Part of me wanted to vouch for Eric Cartman, who I absolutely think should be in the game, but I'm gonna go a little off the cuff and make a case for Beavis. For clarity, I chose JUST Beavis because when applicable, I like to center these moveset ideas around a single character. Too many duos would be a bit annoying to me, and Butthead... well, I guess he slaps Beavis around, but outside of that Beavis is far more active and destructive.

So obviously Beavis & Butthead was a big deal in the 90s, one of the original "bad boy" shows that would eventually pave the way for South Park and Family Guy to continue to push the envelope even further. I think B&B has a unique appeal in its relatively grounded atmosphere, something that can be said of most of Mike Judge's work. Beavis is a very extreme character but he exists in a realistic world. So I think having him get whacked around in cartoonish fashion by all sorts of doodads would be a funny contrast to who is otherwise kind of a normal teenager.

But Beavis' temper makes him abnormal and sets him up well to be a fighter. He has a penchant for burning things, for starters. And he has a notorious alter ego in Cornholio to perhaps be an install here to apply after eating an amount of sugar (Down B?). And to top things off, B&B are from MTV so I suspect his love for rock music would play a part in his moveset as well. Headbanging, dancing and throwing up hand signals could work out a lot of his neutral attacks. As well as clumsily interacting with everyday items such as opening bags of chips or setting off mousetraps. I think he strikes a really comfortable balance where we get a very cartoonish, fun character who provides enough material to turn into an interesting fighter but also brings with him that unique vibe of being from a relatively down to earth, realistic universe more than any other fighter thus far.

Side note about other candidates - South Park's style is really fresh so I think it warrants a character in its own right. Family Guy I'm good with putting a pin in for now because we have Homer. Someone like Beavis or Cartman (or Kenny?) have kind of a more rebellious, almost indie animation feeling flavor which lines up with how those characters came to be in more amateur films. Hell, same can be said of Mr. Frog whose show is adjacent to independent web animation. This is probably where my priorities are at right now.

For this stage, I decided to base it more on the idea of Nyan Cat, kinda like Sweet Dreams in NASB. Think of this as Nyan Cat's domain, or something. A black void filled with rainbows and giant floating pop-tarts, perfect to represent the "random xd" era of the internet Nyan Cat comes from. The layout would be the same as Pokemon Stadium, with platforms made out of pop-tarts.

1. Kenny - Resonated on this and actually love the idea. 'Character who is always dying / injured' is a fun gimmick and I've brainstormed a couple ideas.
2. Beavis - Is my submission and I still think he'd be a good choice.
3. Cartman - Is a must have if Kenny doesn't make the cut. Seems like the favorite right now.
4. Fang & Spear - Cool idea and the show is a wonderful achievement, so why not.

I'm no hater of Family Guy but I'm a bit averse to Stewie leading here... I dunno, I think placing Family Guy well above a lot of these other shows is short-sighted but maybe my understanding of what would make a good 'animation' roster is different than others. To me Family Guy is not essential 'animation'. It's a popular cartoon, but in a case like this with fairly limited space I would place it low priority when Homer is already able to cover a particular kind of animated family sitcom. South Park, Beavis & Butthead and the Adult Swim shows feel more experimental and individual. Primal is bold storytelling with minimal dialogue, so forth. I'm trying to think wide scope, I probably wouldn't add Stewie until later on but ah well.
