1. Mega Man. (It's a weird time for the series to be fair, given that Mega Man 9 released a few months after Brawl did. However, I would argue that his legacy on the NES and SNES would make his inclusion logical as opposed to, say, Mega Man X or MMZ Zero. Even so, they would both still be incredibly fun inclusions.)

2. Sonic. (Whilst he's not at the top of my list, Sonic is an absolutely necessary inclusion if we're even considering third-party characters.)

3. Sukapon. (Joy Mech Fight. Works as an effective retro rep, as well as being a surprisingly highly requested fighter in the original "Smash 2" polls! Admittedly, there's a lot of my own personal bias talking here, but I think that Sukapon could be a really neat inclusion!)

4. Deoxys. (Whilst Gen IV was underway by the time Brawl came around, I think it would be a bad move not to represent Gen III at all going forward, and whilst there's a lot of really cool Pokemon that could work well such as Gardevoir, Flygon or Blaziken, Deoxys would work well as a playable character mostly due to the potential for a weird, stance-change moveset that would allow some quite interesting potential, as well as a lot of interesting moves otherwise unseen in other characters like Lucario.)

5. Geno. (Whilst I, personally, am not a massive fan of Super Mario RPG, I recognise that the RPG aspect of the Mario series is an important one to represent. Paper Mario has potential, but given Geno was actively considered by Sakurai, I feel it's quite possible that a bit of haggling with Square could have him in. Aside from this, I won't deny that Geno has a lot of moveset potential.)

Having Mega Man and Geno in Brawl would’ve been awesome. I agree that he has more of a legacy than X, but I voted for the latter because he was being used more frequently at that time.

Hell yeah! I do see why X is more of a logical choice for the era to be honest, I just felt that it would be good to have both as an option there :D

Since the underground section of Mushroomy Kingdom is pretty much it’s own stage, do you think it could be swapped out for an additional 42nd stage, even if it’s another returning stage or one that could be made accessible in casual play like the Online Practice Stage?

Here are the votes

Sonic 19
Red 4
Zelda 10
Ice Climbers 3
Pit 5
Banjo-Kazooie 4
King K. Rool 5
Meta Knight 9
Ridley 7
Mega Man X 2
Mega Man 5
Meowth 1
Sukapon 3
Deoxys 2
Geno 1
Lugia 5
Cynthia 4
Wolf 1

Here is the ranking
1. Sonic
2. Zelda
3. Meta Knight
4. Mega Man / King K. Rool / Pit / Lugia
8. Red / Banjo-Kazooie / Cynthia
11. Ice Climbers / Sukapon
13. Mega Man X / Deoxys
15. Meowth / Geno / Wolf

Since Sonic is 1st, we’ll have a poll to decide if he joins the roster.

Also, Snake is our first addition to the roster from the poll results.

Job 2: Decide which characters should return from Melee. Note: the characters are grouped into unique and clones (Luigi, Toad, Young Link, Roy, Black Shadow, Falco, and Giygas). The final roster will have 32 unique fighters 7 “clones.”

The characters that I’ll vote for returning are all except for Giygas, Roy, and Black Shadow, so 19 unique and 4 clones.

We can do that, assuming Mushroomy Kingdom did not get two maps.

Job 2:

I agree with cutting Giygas and, sadly, Roy and Black Shadow, as the other clones can be argued to be higher priorities. I'll also suggest cutting Young Link, which I'll go into more detail below. Unfortunately, to give as much development time as possible to newcomers, I'm voting a unique character out, and as much as I hate to say it, it's Excitebiker. While Excitebiker was present for the alternate version of Smash 64, the series didn't reach the same levels of success after the original game's release, not to mention that it lacks the cult status and fan following of other series like Earthbound/Mother and F-Zero. I would've proposed cutting Ness if not for this last reason and the release of Mother 3.

I could be wrong, but this could free up enough time to finish Mewtwo without sacrificing a newcomer slot. Though the OP did point out in the last thread that there were problems with transferring Mewtwo's assets over to Brawl (not trying to dispute this by the way), I should point out that the game's code reveals that Mewtwo had a fair amount of work done on it, even after the completion of the remaining Melee veterans. Though if I am completely wrong, either cut Ness as well, assuming it frees up more time, or just leave the unique veterans untouched.

Back to Young Link, my initial idea was to revamp him into Toon Link and have the two treated the same to avoid redundancy, but I changed my mind. Instead, I'd like to suggest Tetra as a replacement. Like Mewtwo and Giygas, having her as a Toon Link echo was an idea suggested by some before Ultimate's release and, while I believe a second Link is more important, I think it would be nice to have one of Brawl's scrapped characters playable. After all, Marth and Bowser are in the alternate version of Smash 64 and Wario is in the alternate Melee. Some of the moves would probably have to be reskinned or changed.

I agree with Butters Stotch, where we gonna cut Giygas, Roy and Black Shadow and ExciteBiker. :(
Ness will be also cut from the Game and gets replaced by Lucas, but Onett will stay.
Only problem with that is that Lucas will either have the exact same moveset as Ness or will have to take up both Ness's slot and the semi-clone spot if he gets cut.

From the poll, Sonic joins the roster.

Also, Roy was unanimously voted to not return (they can still return from a later job). Also, Ness and Young Link had one vote against them, Excitebiker had two votes against him, and Giygas and Black Shadow received three votes. Since the majority of votes was against Giygas and Black Shadow, they’ll not neccessarily return. The current list of returning fighters are all except for Excitebiker, Roy, Black Shadow, and Giygas.
Since there was a tie for Excitebiker, a poll will be used to decide if he should return.

Job 3: Vote for a returning stage for each of the following franchises: Mario (Mushroom Kingdom, Princess Peach’s Castle, Bowser’s Castle), DK (Bramble Blast, Gangplank Galleon), LoZ (Hyrule Castle, Pyramid of Power, Great Bay), Metroid (Crateria, Norfair), Fire Emblem (Archaneia, Castle Seige (these stages are the same more or less)), F-Zero (Mute City (Melee), Big Blue), Kirby (Fountain of Dreams, Halberd, Rock Star), Star Fox (Corneria (Remix), Out of this Dimension), Pokemon (Safari Zone, Pokemon Stadium, Pokefloats, Goldenrod City).

Mushroom Kingdom
Gangplank Galleon
Hyrule Castle
Norfair
Archaneia
Big Blue
Fountain of Dreams
Corneria
Pokemon Stadium

From the poll, there were more votes against Excitebiker’s return, so he’ll be left off the roster.
From the stages, Gangplank Galleon, Hyrule Castle, Norfair, Big Blue, Corneria, and Pokemon Stadium received the majority of votes for their respective franchises, so they’ll be added.

I’ll add a poll for the Mario, Fire Emblem, and Kirby stages.

From the polls, Princess Peach’s Castle, Castle Seige, and Halberd return.

For items, every item from the previous game returns.

Before we go into new content, I have a few more jobs to fill out (I intentionally left out pokemon since I’m sure three or so pokemon who were in pokeballs will be nominated as playable pokemon).
Job 5: Vote on which Mob Smash modes should stay (the ones were Century Smash, 15 Minute Smash, Endless Smash, Killer Smash, Pokesmash, Team Up Smash)
Job 6: Vote on which Multiplayer game types (stock, time, king of the hill, coin) and which special smash types (stamina, giant, mixed, invisible, poke, sudden, Project M’s All-Star, Soccer, Volleyball, and Knock off Opponent)

For these, I’d be fine with bringing all modes back

Finally, there is a poll to decide on if we should use Brawl’s format again for All-Star mode.

Jobs 5/6:

I agree with bringing back all Mob Smash modes. As for Special Smash, I think we should keep All-Star, Soccer, and Volleyball as is, but have the other options be combinable like in Brawl.

All of the previous modes from the list above return. Since I like the idea of combing different types of special battles, we’ll add that as a feature,

Job 7: Submit a Video Game Character who Debuted before 2006, and state why they would be a good addition to the roster.
Zelda Twilight Princess art.png
I’ll go with the inevitable and nominate Zelda, who is the deuteragonist of the Legend of Zelda Series, which was one of Nintendo’s most successful series at the time of roster planning (and still is today).

I’ll leave this open until the 26th since tomorrow is Christmas. (
Happy Holidays!)

Job 7:

Another submission I foreshadowed in an earlier post. Despite being a Mario spin-off, the Yoshi series has done quite well for itself and I think it's deserving of a second character. Normally, I would submit Kamek for being a more important character in the long run, but seeing as the Ice Climbers were requested here and on the last thread, I went with the Baby Bros instead. In terms of their moveset, they could probably use reskinned versions of the Ice Climbers' moves, as they’re surprisingly fitting (they could shoot a stream of ice from an Ice Flower for their Down B, perform their spin attack for their Side B). Heck, you could even have their entrance animation be the same, but have the Condor replaced with the Stork. Their Final Smash would be changed to something else though.

Basically, they’re just the Ice Climbers with a different Final Smash. For those that want them kept in, perhaps they could become specials alts or, later down the line with Ultimate, echoes.

And a Merry Christmas to everyone here!
