Smash Vods: A New Way to Search Replays



Struggling with a match-up? Having a hard time looking for replays? SmashVods, a newly released website, might just be what you need.


Smash Vods Super Smash Bros. Melee Character Selection​

SmashVods uses YouTube API (Application Programming Interface) data to scour through various channels and organize videos from said channels based on their titles. Using the website, users can search for replays of specific characters from the games supported by it. Compatible games include the entire Super Smash Bros. series, Pokken Tournament and Rivals of Aether.

Relative to vods.co, Smash Vods takes the quantity over quality approach. In doing so, this approach allows smaller channels to get a bit more attention, and offers a broader range of character matchups alongside their specialists playing style.

Vods.co beat this to the punch by at least two years and is really prompt about major events getting updated quickly. Might be worth mentioning as well.
 
This is Awesome. Will it also look up foreign character names as well. So for example Rosalina + Luma it would also look up Rosetta + Chico etc.
 
Well, isn't this going to be a great resource for new Smashers. I'm maining that time-space queen :rosalina: this year. I just now visited that site and find the archives pretty invaluable to help me learn her.

I'll tell you what, it feels like I won't have to search Google for matchup videos any longer.

i had mentioned it in my rough draft. a mod edited the piece earlier and took it out for osme reason :/ i just added to the part where i mentioned vods.co again

certainly glad to know the site is willing to cater to more than just its target audience, having recently decided to dabble with RoA myself, it might make for some good insight in the event I want to compete in it now and then.

it would also be good for newcomers to Pokken, since if the entire cast has their share of videos, then it can demonstrate to them what each Pokemon can do with practice.
