Official Smash Ultimate Discussion

Almost one month has passed since release. In retrospect....

  • This is by far the best Smash ever. Like, I don't even know how they will top this.

  • Pretty freakin' good; I have a few qualms over things like internet play, balancing issues, etc.

  • It's ok, but [insert Smash game here] is better.

  • I'd rather play Parcheesi.

Begging you from the bottom of my heart to edit this post and change it to something else before we launch into another godforsaken discussion on WELL IF IT'S FICTION IT'S OKAY and all that ****

Ima just pray that isn't really Etika
Where else can I discuss Etika's desires to slurp a 15 year old's toes?

All aboard the on-topic train!

We still sleeping on Sylux as DLC or nah?
Hasn't Sylux literally not even done anything combat-wise yet in the Metroid canon?

While this is hardly a barrier to entry (:roymelee::4corrin:), you've got to remember we just got :ultridley::ultdarksamus:.

I'm concerned about Sakurai's well-being. In the latest Direct, he blinked in a strange way while having a forced smile. Then, afterwards, according to his English translator, he said, "I wonder if I'll ever get to take a break." To me, this is a cry for help. Sakurai has poured his blood, sweat, and tears into directing Smash games and trying to please as many fans as possible, and yet he has gotten so much flack from ungrateful people. "But Sakurai isn't the only guy who works on Smash!" That's true, but he's still responsible for calling most of the shots, and any time someone complains that their most-wanted character didn't make it into the roster or a character they dislike made it in instead, they don't blame the developers or the programmers. They blame Sakurai. It's no wonder the man looks weaker as he gets older. All that fatigue from having to deal with haters has really taken a toll on him. So the next time anyone thinks about attacking Sakurai, take a step back and realize you're only making the problem worse.

Joshua was literally in Exodus times though, you gotta use a better name. Like Job- wait ****
Jesus' name wasn't "Jesus" in Hebrew, it was more like "Yeshua/Jeshua", which can also be interpreted as "Joshua".

Interpreted in the right way, Jesus can be considered a "real life" Joestar.
Oh ****, I can't believe Joseph also ****ed Ismaire

He's probably going to take a month break after he finishes DLC

Christ doesn't start with a "Jo", so you're wrong and your joke is wrong.

He is literally making 300k-400k a year and obviously is well taken care of and also it's ensured he's not being overworked as he has mentioned his schedule being changed to suit him. He's like Miyazaki. Making videogames is what he loves, and that is very clearly expressed. He's a bit of a workaholic. I personally wish he didn't work so hard, but he himself is glad to.

Anyone who attacks Sakurai is automatically on my "bad person I hate you" list but "a cry for help"? Really?

Pretty sure the issue isn’t that serious. Dude tends to overwork himself, but it’s clear he enjoys what he does.

Roy and Corrin aren't a fair comparison at all when FE6 already had far more footage than Prime 4 and Fates had released already in Japan by the time they were announced for Smahs.

Sylux is the personification of the relevancy argument. There's literally nothing else to his support, just "he is gonna be important" which is something we don't even actually know for sure.

The Sakurai worship is getting actually legitimately creepy.

He is a grown-ass man.
Doing his grown-ass job.
Making is own grown-ass decisions.

He does not need to be coddled by the likes of smashboards.

As someone who doesn’t watch Etika, can someone please explain to me what he does that makes him so popular around here?

He just overreacts to things, right?

He was a boss in metroid prime hunters. You could also play as him in that game.

By the time Melee had released, several screenshots had been revealed of different builds of FE6.
yeah but if you mix cultures enough he becomes Joshua Josephson.
Joshua Josephson, Super Star.

I’m worried that we didn’t get many whacky picks from him this time, besides Piranha Plant. Maybe the complaints about WFT and Duck Hunt finally got to him. No new unique FE or Kid Icarus reps either, it almost doesn’t feel like a Sakurai game. The plant was the only concession they allowed him, poor man.

What do you mean by "worship", exactly? Quote an actual post to give me an example.

So, are we going to move on from this situation or not? Just...why?

Somehow, every time I come back to this thread, something this weird gets brought up.
