I dunno, E.T. is an actual character from a classic film and his game has had a bigger impact on the industry in a way no other non-game character has. He also made a return to gaming recently.

He's relevant and historically significant. Nintendo also has ties to Universal through the theme park stuff, so I think E.T.'s more likely.

I'll only support an ET support thread if the home stage is a landfill where the bottom drops out at inconvenient and unavoidable times leading into a glitchy hellscape from which there is no escape.

I can't downplay Isabelle's criticism and throw Rex under the bus. As much as I like her, she had her own share of controversy too.

This is something I see said a lot here, and I don't understand it.

Being controversial typically indicates that the controversial party did something wrong. All Isabelle did was get shown at the end of a non-Smash direct, which Smash fans for some reason expected to be about Smash. She's been the face of a premier Nintendo franchise since 2012, and she's a unique character rather than an echo.

The controversy is that people are butthurt and want to call it a controversy.

If you're counting dex sizes only, he's actually pretty much comparable to Ridley, assuming Samus is 5'6" or somewhere around there.

Groudon is in my top 10 favorite pokemon and he'd be pretty cool as a gen 3 rep, but I just don't see a legendary ever making it for anything except a pokeball/masterball spawn.

He's actually smaller than modern Ridley. He's heavy as crap though. 2100 lbs, the heaviest Pokemon for a long time.

Yup, it's the only franchise to have a newcomer added in every game...
Not sure if it's mandatory by the Pokemon Company, or the fact that having over 700 potential fighter choices makes it really viable...

someone a few days ago pointed out how Nintendo has to share Pokemon rights with GameFreak so I wouldn't be surprised if it was a mandatory addition. Maybe explains why the pokemon's color changes don't really actually change color that much, similar to third-party reps like Pac-Man and Sonic

The Smash website removed the new banner from the character icon. Last time they did that was 10 days before Isabelle was revealed, the time before was 10 days before Simon/K. Rool reveal.

you misunderstood me. it's AFTER smash that i played xeno the legend of zelda kirby etc... but i played splatoon before the inklings were in smash. get me now? i like to know the characters and play their game before they're a thing in smash

He doesn't need to do glory kills, and has appeared in T-rated games before.

Yeah I guess Snake technically breaks people's necks in Smash already...so Doomguy is doable but who knows. I would be happy even if they added the Doom theme as stage music. That would be awesome to fight to.

Yeah, that's what I assumed. Pokemon is the highest grossing media franchise in the world. Grossing more money than franchises like Harry Potter, Star Wars, and Even Mickey Mouse. Of course they would want a new Pokemon in every game...

Groudon's canon size wouldn't matter considering he already has a canon size in Smash itself.

Also Samus is 6' 3" and it means nothing anyway given Pikachu is definitely not its canon size in Smash either.
