After seeing the recent DLC for not only the Fighters pass but also what comes through free updates and the stuff that comes after the fighters pass I've been beginning to think. Once DLC is done I believe we should have a Smash Ultimate Definitive Edition. I think this may become important as one day not only will the serves for Ultimate go down but eventually the Eshop will as well. That means in the future the DLC may not be available for those who get the game much later in time. The DLC could become lost and no longer to be downloaded much like Scott Pilgrim Vs The World. The only people who will be able to play as these characters will be those who get the chance to pay and download them no before that day comes. Granted it's going to take a long time for that to happen but I guarantee it's going to one day. Gaming's biggest crossover featuring characters from Nintendo, SEGA, Capcom, Namco, Square, Microsoft, SNK, Atlus and others I think it shouldn't have to suffer that fate.

Now, I'm not sure how this would fly legally considering it's a re-release of a game that already got the permission to use all of these characters but then again licenses can expire and maybe they might need to get permission anyway since even though it's a re-release it's still considered a different game.

As for what they should do there are 2 options.

The First idea is simple; A Re-release of Smash Ultimate on Switch or on the next Nintendo Console with all DLC from characters, stages, Mii outfits, new modes and music built inside. Honestly, that's all they'd have to do and I guarantee you that it would sell millions.

But considering the type of person Sakurai is I'd bet he'd probably go the extra mile and add new content. So let's say he does this, we can't exactly talk about new fighters considering we don't know who is going to be the rest of the DLC for Ultimate yet.

So here's what I would do.
1. The remaining missing stages make a comeback. Some are slightly reworked to fit Ultimate's additions. The Jungle Hijinks stage will put characters in cannons and force them to the front of the stage when it transforms in Stage Morph. The Ridley Boss in Pyrosphere will only appear if a playable Ridley isn't.

2. A stage hazard list. Instead of just a vague "Stage Hazards" switch that arguably doesn't turn off all hazards (The Red and Blue spinning blocks in 3D Land still spin, the fixated camera in Mario Bros, The road of Big Blue and all transforming and scrolling stages still transform and scroll)
Lists of types of hazards you can turn off individually:
-Water Physics (once turned off the water will behave like in Melee and 3DS with no swimming)
-Enemies
-Bosses (Yellow Devil and Metal Face)
-Enviromental (Spikes and Ice)
-Player Activated (The POW Block in Mario Bros.)
-Timed/Random Hazards (Pictochats drawings and Wispy Woods blowing)
-Scrolling
-Transforming
BONUS: For stages that either scroll or transform they will have a folder icon on them in the select screen. Opening this folder will allow you to choose with specific formation you want to fight on. Or if you allow these hazards to stay it will instead act as a starting point. Stages effective by this and will have a folder option will be... Rainbow Cruise, Icicle Mountain, Pokemon Stadium, Brinstar Depths, Poke Floats, Mute City, Delfino Plaza, Halberd, Pokemon Stadium 2, Port Town Aero Dive, Castle Siege, Rumble Falls, 3D Land, Golden Plains, Paper Mario, Dream Land GB, Prism Tower, Arena Ferox, Reset Bomb Forest, Living Room, Pictochat 2, Mushroom Kingdom U, Mario Circuit, Skyloft, Kalos Pokemon League, Coliseum, Flat Zone X, Town and City, Wii Fit Studio, Pilot Wings, Wuhu Island, PAC-LAND, Super Mario Maker, Rainbow Road, Woolly World, Orbital Gate Assault, New Donk City Hall, Yggdrasil's Altar and Spiral Mountain.

3. When you choose a Mii Fighter type you are now only choosing it's standard moves. You can use specials from other types. So for example you could choose a Mii Brawler type with a Gunner Neutral Special and Sword Side Special. You can also choose it's Smash attacks between the 3 options from each type. The taunts are fully customization and now you can choose your Final Smash. You can also use any mii outfit irregardless of what type you choose. There will be at least 2 new sets of moves and types to celebrate this fact. One based on Magic Spells as a Mii Wizard and a set of "Mii" moves based on games like Wii Sports and Wii Play as Mii Classic. There will also be a new "Classic" Mii outfit that makes your Mii have the same look as they normally do in the Mii Channel. Since you are able to use different types of attacks for your Miis you can also choose which Blaster and Sword you want to use. These don't offer any stat changes but are more aesthetic changes. So for example you can use a Zero Hat with a Heihachi Costume plus a Sans Blaster with Viridi's Staff as a sword. Lastly All Mii Fighter costumes from Wii U/3DS that didn't get to return will do so.

4. Stage Builder will have more options. For this I will be making a sublist
  1. When you choose a type of texture for you platform, in this example let's say Ice, you can now change it's color/hue so you can keep the pattern and it's effect but with a different color. For example you can turn Ice red to give a Ruby look.
  2. There will also be a flat color/texture option. This one has no effect and no textures. It's for players who love to make 8-Bit Sprites in stages
  3. You can now choose where characters spawn.
  4. The limit of characters who can appear in the stage will only decrease to 4 if the main play area is too cluttered.
  5. Spirits can be used as stickers like in Little Big Planet. But they have to be placed on terrain of their on the play area or the foreground. But if it's on of the background areas then you can place them any where. You can also change their size, rotate them and add a white/black outline to them.
  6. If you draw a formation and it's almost perfect you can now use a proper eraser tool to only get rid of the section that's not needed. Plus you have a edit tool to add more to a formation and a merge tool and bring to formations together without that glitch where characters slide in-between 2 close together formations. You will also have a selection tool to move more things at once.
  7. All of Brawl's and Wii U's options like preset blocks, treadmills, spikes and stairs will return but with more options. Backgrounds from the past Stage builders will also return.
  8. You can also choose whether or not the music changes depending on the situation like "One stock remaining" or "2 Minutes left"
All stages from the original game can be transferred over to the Definitive edition.

5. All characters will get at least 1 (or 2) more costumes. And these are completely new looks, not colors. From Gooigi, Riders Sonic, Boomboom in a Clowncopter, Ms. Pacman, Kingdom Hearts Cloud will be some of the options. Characters who have had changed looks through out the series will also get their older designs as costumes, Twilight Princess Ganondorf, Brawl Wolf, Powersuit Samus, Twilight Princess Link, Twilgiht Princess Zelda, Melee Fox, Melee Falco and N64 Models for the Original 12 will be included.

6. A color creator will also be added but you can only change the color of default costumes as to save time in development.

7. You can now choose a "Random Route" for Classic Mode for hose who miss the older way of the mode.

8. Allstar will be back as it's own mode but the Mob Smash version will also return for those who enjoyed it. Allstar will have 5 options based on past Smash games. All Random like in Melee, By series like in Brawl, by Oldest to Newest like 3DS, by Newest to Oldest like in WiiU and a new version for Ultimate based on when characters were added into Smash.

9. Smash run will return with an 8 Player option.

10. You can now replay ANY Spirit match you've already beaten at any time.

11. You can now put any song on any stage with your custom playlist.

12. Boss Battles mode will be added and unlocked from the start. It will include all Bosses from World of Light, plus the missing bosses from Brawl and WiiU including Petey Piranha, Rayquaza, Ridley, Meta-Ridley, Porky, Duon, Tabuu and Master Core. Plus 6 new bosses will be added and exclusive to this mode. Death Egg Robo, Mecha Dragon, King Boo, The 3rd Sword and Shield Legendary, Gilgamesh and Hades. You can also do a Boss Rush mode (which will also be available in Allstar) And Boss challenges. Each challenge will go into a certain theme at which you have to beat the bosses of said theme. One could be "Dragon Slayers" where you have to fight Rathalos, Rayquaza, Ridley, Meta-Ridley and Mecha Dragon. Another could be "Final Encounters" which will mainly include Final Bosses like Master Hand, Giga Bowser, Tabuu, Galeem+Dharkon, Death Egg Robo, King Boo, Ganon and Hades.

13. And LASTLY Most likely new fighters will be added but not that many. Mainly like 5-10 MAYBE. I would use this as an opportunity to add characters that fans have been clambering for that were unfortunately deconfirmed in some way. Or were already in the game as none playable fighters. Mainly Assist Trophy Fighters but Spirits can work to. These Assist Trophies will still be in the game however. If you pick up an Assist Trophy and it's of a now playable fighter that's currently not on stage then it will work as normal. But if that Assist were to be used and the playable version is already on stage than the Assit will be colored as a Galeem or Dharkon version. The version will depend on the brightness of the stage. If it's a bright stage like Rainbow Cruise it will be a Dharkon version but if it's a dark stage like Momentos than it will be a Galeem version. This will allow previously deconfirmed fighters to become playable.

These 10 Fighters will be Shadow the Hedgehog, Shovel Knight, Krystal, Waluigi, Issac, Zero, Bomberman, Rayman, Shantae and Geno

2 Bonus, completely new, fighters will be added. Sir Fetch'd from Pokemon Sword and Shield and Pitfall Harry who will represent the Atari 2600. He will represented by 2D sprites and his moveset will primarily be an amalgamation of Atari games like Pong, Centipede and a Missile Command Final Smash.

14. There will also be 10 New stages exclusive to the Definitive Edition.
  1. Mario Party
  2. Bomb Field (BomberMan Stage)
  3. Music Land (Rayman)
  4. Venus Lighthouse (Issac)
  5. NES Remix
  6. A Galar Stage
  7. A Ring Fit Adventure Stage
  8. Crossroads (Frogger)
  9. Atari's Greatest Hits
  10. Nindies like Shantae and Shovel Knight will have a designated "Nindies" stage that transforms between different games like Shovel Knight, Shantae, Freedom Planet, Hollow Knight and Super Meat Boy. Will be the main stage to show off the "Folder" option in the stage selection.
So what do you think?

So what do you think?
This is something I’d love to see. If Smash 6 isnt Ultimate 2 im probably skipping depending on cuts. If we get Geno in wave 2 the only extra character I’d be banking on is Isaac.

Don't know how possible it is but I'd be entirely for it! I prefer continual additional content for an already excellent game rather than an entirely new experience with less.

If it came with all DLC packed in and launched with the successor to the Switch, I would happily buy it.

Probably wouldn't bother getting it if it just came to the Switch by itself, except maybe as a collector's item.

That said, it seems unlikely, if not impossible, for this to happen with the 10+ companies that will be involved when it's all said and done.

Realistically yeah, I'm not sure if it's even in the realm of possibility. I'm not even sure what the process is to even get a third party character like Rayman to be a Spirit. I guess it all depends on the process and what's needed for said process

I like the improvements but I feel a new version of an old game wouldn’t have so many new characters and stages, narrow it down to 3 characters and 5 stages and that sounds way more realistic

No. If It does become a thing for a next gen Nintendo console, I wouldn’t get it. I have no interest in getting any of the next gen consoles in general whatsoever.

Is there a precedent for this? Are Smash 4's DLC characters ungettable?

I'd prefer they just put all the DLC characters in a free final update at the tail end of the game's life rather than putting out a whole new game. Worst case scenario, we could think about some sort of Ultimate re-release years down the road if we have another Melee situation where not everyone migrates to Smash 6. I do think Melee merited some manner of re-release.

I’m mixed on it. I think it would be pretty cool but the whole event and hype surrounding the closing of smash ultimate’s development just makes me feel like I’m kinda tired of ultimate
