Well if you seed according to a non-official ranking system then yes you are "bracket ******." Also yes, movie wise, it is nice to see the top people battle it out. If they are the top people then they will make it to the finals. But you are also saying like championship games are never blowouts, like its always between the top people. As if the SuperBowl has never been a blowout, the NBA Finals never had a sweep, the MLB never had a sweep. The "best" team don't always make it to the end. The one big difference in professional sports is that there is a season and the bracket is made off of your record for that season. In smash (at the moment) there is no record to go off of, ya know...

Xif to answer your question...yes, at this tourney you had 2 or 3 that don't post get in the tourney. At the last one you had about 7-8 enter the tourney. I even entered the last one to contribute to the pot.

Don't get me wrong I do understand what you guys are saying but as a business I can't cater to one community if its not a tourney for JUST that one community. Now if we did a tournament for just the smashboards community then what everyone is suggesting would make sense and we could do it.
Those are all terrible examples and you suck at making a bracket.

from these results, you're telling me that i can assume that:
Archaic (Dsamoan... who just started playing melee again a few weeks ago) is as good as cornel (who is clearly one of our state's best players)?
and cornel, who has a positive record against s0ft, is now clearly worse than he is?
eugene of course is clearly the worst player in GA now.
I played smash with biglou, bbq, and archaic the week before the tournament, and biglou and bbq are quite clearly atm better than archaic. biglou also usually beats bbq. apparently they both entered the hyperbolic time chamber or something because they both placed much higher than biglou. i'll assume he's terrible now.

it is quite clear from these results that the face of GA smash has obviously changed and we must radically restructure our opinions of good players regardless of bracket issues. archaic and bbq should be placed in the PR above cornel because he only got 9th. he only had to play rice i mean come on that's totally fair wofl
just admit im pro and you owe me 12 million dolars from our mm rolf

This whole discussion is why TO's should run the bracket at their own tournaments.
I have faith that Eugene would have made a better bracket, even if he is a ****. <3

Well here is my last point...then I will have to excuse myself from this discussion. Thanks for all of your input be it productive or counter productive...

Again we have be doing random brackets since SOD4. According to some if not most of the people that have enter say they have enjoyed it and are looking forward to the next one (this is told to me personally, face to face). No one has ever had an issue with the setup even though it has been on random until this particular tournament. We try to make each tournament as enjoyable as possible and we will continue to hold SOD. I really do hope that everyone can and will join us in the future.

i was one of the worse players at SOD and I got 9th place because of easy brackets (because it was randomly seeded). I have to let you know that I was greatly disappointed in this because I did not get to play many top players in the tournament. The best experience is tournament experience, and if random brackets doesn't give me that opportunity to play against top players, then I don't want to go back to SOD. What use is it for a low-level player to get easy brackets? That won't help me improve much.

I think it would be fair to all players if SOD did proper seeding. That way, the low-level players can get their experience, and top-level players can get accurate placements. You said that you do random brackets to give the new players a chance, but the new players enter the tournament already knowing that they don't have a chance, and that they are entering so they can get experience and hopefully have a chance in the future.

To do proper seeding, do it based off doubles results like many people said, or do it based off a knowledgeable player's opinion. You said you can't do that because of a potential new player that might be really good. Well the point of seeding is that you deserve a good spot in the brackets because you have already established yourself as a good player. The new player might be good, but he hasn't established himself, so he shouldn't get any benefits.

If it's because you simply do not know how to do seeding, you can just ask any of us. We don't want to bash you, but instead to help you and make the SOD series a better tourney experience.

:)
