Showdown at The Big House 6! feat. ZeRo, Nairo, Dabuz, Mr. R and more!

The Summer of Smash has come to an end, and one of the premiere events of the year is drawing closer. The Big House has always been a perfect proving ground for players all around the world, and this year is no exception. With international players coming over to compete, TBH 6 is shaping up to be one of the most stacked tournaments of the year.

Last year, it was Super Smash Bros. for Wii U’s debut at The Big House, with a really good showing. Will this year’s tournament live up to the expectations?

Let’s take a look at the Big House 6!

In the Last Episode...

The Big House 5 was a very important tournament for the Smash 4 scene. There were fierce matches, intense rivalries and one of the best loser’s bracket run ever seen. After being upset in pools, Gonzalo “ZeRo” Barrios went on from loser’s to eventually win the tournament, defeating players like Eric “ESAM” Lew, Jason “Anti” Bates, Elliot “Ally” Carroza-Oyarce, Samuel “Dabuz” Buzby, and Nairoby “Nairo” Quesada twice at Grand Finals, securing another victory for his streak.

The Stream

Instead of VGBootCamp, this time Unrivaled Tournaments is in charge of the Wii U stream. Unrivaled Tournaments is an Illinois organization dedicated to streaming Smash 4 events. You can keep up-to-date on their activities by following them on Twitter.

The Players

ZeRo, Anti, ESAM, Ally, Dabuz and Nario are all returning for TBH 6, along with newcomers like Ramin “Mr. R” Delshad, Yuta “Abadango” Kawamura, Rei “komorikiri” Furukawa, Takuto "kamemushi" Ono and Larry “Larry Lurr” Holland. All of them are warmed-up and ready to battle for the title of champion!

After a couple of bad losses, former champion ZeRo (:4diddy:) is slowly taking back his throne. Despite a couple of second place finishes at 2GGT: Mexico Saga, Get On My Level, Smash N’ Splash, 9th place at CEO 2016 and even 13th at Super Smash Con 2016, he’s stepped up his game. With first place finishes at Endgame, Shine 2016 and 2GGT: Abadango Saga, ZeRo is gaining a lot of momentum for a possible win at TBH.

Meanwhile, his rival Ally (:4mario:) will be attempting to best him again. Ally had a massive win over ZeRo at Get On My Level 2016, and since then, he continued to beat him at Smash N’ Splash and EVO 2016. He also took 1st at those two events, along with the Rio de Janeiro eGames Showcase. However, a lackluster performance at CEO 2016 marred his victory streak. Nevertheless, he’s likely to give another stellar performance this weekend.

Even though some may say he isn’t as good as he used to be, Nairo (:4zss:) still continues to place very well at tournaments, thanks to his composure and very aggresive playstyle. Recently sponsored by NRG esports, Nario got his first big win in a while by taking Super Smash Con 2016. Although he has been upset very early in the past, let’s not forget that he was the first one to ever take a set off ZeRo.

On the other hand, we have the face of consistency with Dabuz (:rosalina:). Always getting Top 8 at most majors, Dabuz finally got his well-deserved first place at WTFox 2, beating ZeRo for the first time. After leaving Dream Team, Dabuz enters TBH playing for Renegades, who just recently announced his sponsorship.

Looking to break his 7th place supermajor curse, Larry Lurr (:4fox:) is coming to TBH 6 with big expectations. With a 2nd place finish at Rio and having the most victories against ZeRo in the current patch, Larry has a lot going for him.

The terror of social media, ANTi (:4mario:) himself is looking to repeat or perhaps even surpass last year’s performance, where he almost beat ZeRo in loser’s semis. A lot has passed since then, and Anti managed to double eliminate ZeRo and even win CEO 2016. Unfortunately, in the two most recent tournaments he attended, Super Smash Con and EVO, he got a dissapointing 13th and 33rd respectively. With people doubting his consistency, he needs to prove himself once more. His recent signing with Immortals provides additional incentive for redemption, so expect him to show up strong.

From the international side, Mr. R (:4sheik:), Abadango (:4mewtwo:), kamemushi (:4megaman:) and komorikiri are coming to the US to compete. Mr. R is continuing to dominate the European scene, and is looking to take home his first American major. While failing to win his own saga, Abadango still has a couple of wins under his belt, with Pound 2016 being the most prominent. komorikiri won Sumabato for The Big House, which earned him a flight out to compete, so we are expecting big things from him this weekend. And finally, the man who almost won EVO 2016, Kamemushi, is back, and his Megaman is ready to take some names.

-------------------

All in all, the Big House 6 is looking to be one of the most stacked tournaments of the year. With so much on the line, who will be the champion? Be sure to tune in this weekend to find out!

Oh **** big house is this weekend? Great, now I have to choose between melee and watching the presidential debate with my grandma.

let’s not forget that he was the first one to ever take a set off ZeRo.
Going to correct you here. Mr. ConCon was the first person to take a set off ZeRo. Nairo was the first person to take a tournament off ZeRo.
