Hey Everyone,

Just wondering which stages sheik should aim to strike to against some of the cast... As well, in 2/3, which stages should Sheik ban and go to?

Specifically wondering this against the top tier chars.

Thanks.

Fox: Prefer Battlefield or Fountain, strike Yoshi's.
Falco: Prefer Battlefield or Fountain, strike FD.
Marth: Prefer Battlefield, strike Yoshi's.
Falcon: Prefer Fountain, strike Dreamland.

That's just what I do anyway.

vs Fox most players agree that you should get rid of FD. Most Foxes like one of Yoshi's / Dreamland and strike the other one; I usually go to the one of the two they don't like if I'm feeling risky or Battlefield if I'm feeling safe. I think Sheik's best two stages in the matchup are Battlefield and Fountain.

I have no idea vs Falco on anything except FD is bad for Sheik. I pick based on how I feel the previous matches went.

vs Marth try to avoid Yoshi's and FD and try to go to Dreamland. Fountain and Battlefield are kinda neutral imo, Battlefield is probably better for Sheik.

vs Peach I like Dreamland > Battlefield > Yoshi's > Fountain > FD.

vs Puff I like Yoshi's > Battlefield > Fountain > FD = Dreamland

vs Falcon, Yoshi's > Fountain > Battlefield > FD = Dreamland

vs IC's, lately I've been thinking Fountain > Battlefield > Dreamland > Yoshi's > FD, but it's most important that you are comfortable because small moments of discomfort = mistakes = wobbles

@ Laudandus Laudandus Wouldnt peach on Dreamland be in her favour? Also in BO3 against Marth, what would you prefer Sheik bans, FD or Yoshi's?

I find that with hard camping Dreamland becomes really good for Sheik in that matchup. If I'm not feeling consistent/patient enough to camp on any given day I'll counterpick Battlefield instead.

I go back and forth on Yoshi's vs FD against Marth. If their punishes are inconsistent FD is better but aside from that I've got nothing

Fox: FoD, Battlefield, Yoshi's, Dream Land 64, Final Destination (tech-chasing,) Pokemon Stadium (ceiling)
Falco: Battlefield (consistency and recovery), FoD (Sheik stage), DL64 (recovery gains and easier to DI,) Yoshi's Story (Die a lot), Pokemon Stadium (platforms, long), FD (lasers)
Marth: Dream Land, Battlefield, Pokemon Stadium, Finald Destination, Yoshi's, FoD (I think Marth's better here than Yoshi's)
Peach: Pokemon Stadium, Yoshi's Story, Battlefield, Dream Land, FoD (agree with Laudandus on camping on DL, but disagree that you need very much room, so I think it ends up worse). IDK where to put FD
Jiggs: Not enough experience, I usually go YL, but I like Yoshi's quite a bit
IC's: Yoshi's, Battlefield, Dream Land, Young Link (Yoshi's is like, perfect, for needle camping strategy. Battlefield is better than FoD because it's way harder for IC's to shark top platform on Battlefield and FoD is becoming an IC's stage)
Falcon: FoD, Battlefield, Yoshi's, Dream Land, Pokemon Stadium, Final Destination (I prefer the longevity on Battlefield to the small quarters, and Falcon can do some wonky stuff on Yoshi's. Some Falcons actually like it.)

Samus: Go Pokemon Stadium or Yoshi's, ban FoD
Luigi: Doesn't matter much, just don't screw up.
Doc [& Mario]: Doesn't matter much, just don't screw up. Ban Final Destination (Chain-grabs)
Pikachu: Doesn't matter much, just don't screw up. Go Final Destination if you know they'll stay Pikachu.
Ganondorf: Ban Yoshi's Story, avoid FoD. Counterpick whatever. Don't let anything get into your head and you'll beat Ganon on basically any stage

I disagree with liking Stadium against Peach - Sheik likes platforms more than Peach does, so Sheik wants more platform-heavy stages, and it's not like Sheik doesn't have a billion great counterpick options in that matchup already.

Why is Yoshi's perfect for needle camping against IC's as opposed to Battlefield and Dreamland, which are much bigger? I think that big stages and long recoveries are great vs IC's, because Sheik can live for a long time if she respects grab. FoD is awesome vs IC's because it breaks the Sopo chain grab, which prevents wobbling really often.

The Falcon matchup is all about restricting his space, so I'd say that stages pretty much strictly become better the smaller they are. I'm 99% that Yoshi's is Sheik's favorite stage in the matchup. Some falcons hate FoD but increasingly more and more of them are starting to like it.

Information for the mid tiers :

Samus: You can camp on DL so it's fine, you can edge guard her pretty well so she won't live forever. You kill her really early on Yoshi's. FD is her worst stage in the (and every other) matchup because she can't upB to platforms, so pick that unless she bans it. FoD is her best stage probably because she lives for a long time and you can't really camp because it's not big enough.

Luigi: Every luigi except Abate loves FD, so ban it vs them, pick it vs Abate. He can't actually recover effectively if you know how to edge guard him so Dreamland is great.

Doc: Top platform camping on Dreamland is a free win. You're right about FD. Stadium is great for Doc as well, every other stage is whatever (by which I mean massively in Sheik's favor because Doc is terrible).

I know nothing about Pikachu

Ganon: FD is extremely good because he's heavily reliant on platform movement since his real ground game is awful. Pokemon is good for similar reasons. Avoid Yoshi's/BF, Ganon has trouble on FoD according to Bizzarro Flame for the same reasons Falcon does (and no Ganons know how to shield drop, right?).

Peach & PS: While it's true that PS might hurt our neutral or combo game slightly against Peach, I think the early kill game is most important. Armada thinks that the matchup goes from favorable to unfavorable for Sheik from NTSC to PAL mostly because of harder kills. Most peaches I know hate PS, and I typically have the best performance against peach on PS. I don't think the meta is developed well enough for it to be past preference atm, though.

Falcon & Yoshi's: Yoshi's is small enough, with wide enough platforms, and short enough distance, from IC's to get quick and easy follow-ups to needles and quickly dispose of Nana (I do go for the Nana kill strategy above all.) FoD is probably good too against ICs but I'm rather cautious of it because IC's are starting to like the stage.

Falcon & Yoshi's: It's definitely good for Sheik, but as I said, Falcon can do some weird things on yoshi's, like no-impact-lands and etc. I've seen some Falcons like to CP it, so I would be cautious. I think Sheik can restrict space well enough on Battlefield and I love that wall-jumps are hindered there as well, making edgeguarding much simpler/easier.

Agreeing with the mid-tiers except Ganon. Ganons like to CP me to FoD, but perhaps Bizz is right and the other Ganon's need to step up their movement.
