According to SRK, although Melee took the crown in the donation drive, Skullgirls will be @EVO2013 in the form of a side tournament. While not on the big stage, the fact that both communities have earned the right to be at the largest fighting game tournament clearly shows how hard both have worked.

There are plenty of side tourneys at EVO every year. Skullgirls was one last year, and will be one this year. That is not the result of the donation drive. Because of the drive, the top 8 will be on steam, and the tourney will receive setups and a pot bonus. So essentially it's a bit more than a side tourney and a bit closer to a "9th game".

Skullgirls would've had a side tourney at EVO anyways.

The only thing they did was throw an extra $1000 in the pot.

I'm glad though; I think both communities need the boost, and there will be plenty more in store for Melee and SG =D
