scoring kills vs defensive play

lately i have been struggling getting my kill setups on highly defensive players. especially on characters with disjoints. one good option i have found was getting them in the air and trapping their landings with ftilt and needles but that still doesnt kill till much later precents. but when a marth is using retreating fair i cant seem to deal with it very well. Rarley a BF can catch them of guard but other than that i cant seem to think of any other options

Just force them to aproach with needles.
If they don't, just punish every landing with needles untill they are at Fair kill percent, then go in.
