SBL's Theory of Unlocking

hell Smashboardians. This is my first attempt at makinga thread, so please bare with me. I know I am a noob, so please dont come in here saying so (or agreeing, but disagreeing is completely acceptable )

second, these are my THEORY's, they are niether right, nor wrong, so please dont come and say im wrong, because you dont know either. you are welcome to put your own theorys, debate why something seems to be wrong, etc.

plz dont flame me, smashboards is supposed to welcome the casual players, and we are all guessing about things.

ok on to business.

So, for those of you that dont know, Samaurai Panda( a moderator and the Co-host of Show Me Your News which in case people dont know is a podcast hosted by another Mod, Youko) made what is referred to as the "Conspiracy Theoracy" (kinda catchy in my opinion) about the starting roster and how to unlock characters.

his stated that the roster we saw in the update basic Brawl/with anyone

MIGHT be the starting Roster (yes, its the same one at E for All) i believe this is true and seems right.

you might notice many characters arent on it( like Sakurais own Kirby) . But, Kirby is the very first fight in Subspace emisary, so beat him and...youve unlocked kirby.(it could also be that you beat the event match Pink Ball Repulsion) dedede would be unlocked by beating the First event match "Two Trouble Kings". Zelda would be unlocked by saving her in Subspace Emissary.


Now for my beliefs. Wario is seen in the Event Match "cleaning house in Skyworld". that might be where you unlock Wario.(or maybe you unlock him when he enters and turns the princess you didnt save into a trophy)and now in todays coop event matches update we see some more event matches. pokemon trainer may be unlocked by beating "Master the Pokémon Tag Battle" and Lucas may be unlocked by beating "Fastest, Shortest, Sudden Death". Ice climbers might be unlocked by beating ALL the Co-op event matches(after all, they are a CO-OPeratively working together)

again this is speculation and if you have anything youd like to add then please do. you can argue a point but dont come in and be "no its wrong." and not give any grounds for why it might be wrong.

Sonic in the starting roster?
Definently not. That's just a demo roster, I can guarantee it will change before release.

If anyone is unlocked about the fastest,shortest sudden death, it should be Sonic. The time thing and having fastest in its name, seems suitable.

think about it though. Sonic was the Most Wanted character to be in. and they have to make one third party be starting to appeal to sonic fans that "o you get to start off with Sonic right off the bat"

Sakurai just updated Sonic and Snake for hype purposes. They will both be unlockable, as well as any other 3rd parties which may join.

That's the reason why we won't likely see Megaman until release.

that may be true, but why was Sonic playable at E for All and Snake not?

Sakurai rushed his development so he could be used.

That also isn't the starting roster. Ever seem funny how
1)Kirby is the very first co-op event match and you can play as him
2)Meta-Knight is in but Kirby (the start of his franchise) is not
3)That PT and Zelda are magically hidden
4)Sonic is a starter and Snake (who has been seen more) isn't.

It's clearly a demo roster and not the real one. Anyone think that maybe Sakurai put it up instead of the real one as not to show people yet.

1)But doesn't it seem odd how you can play with him bfore you even unlock him

3)Most of them will be, and most weren't on the screenshot. Do yiou think he'd show a bunch of hidden characters before the game is out. Months no less.

1: No. There's no way Kirby will be unlockable.
2: See above. That's completely subjective and in no way relevant to the point raised. Kirby is the star of his franchise and will appear in Brawl as a starter; Meta Knight would not appear as one before Kirby.
3: What? Captain Falcon hasn't even been announced, how is that relevant at all?
4: Once again subective and completely irrelevant. We've seen nothing to suggest that how much a character is anticipated is a major factor in determining who will be unlockable and who won't be. After all, you could argue that Mewtwo was more far more anticipated than the Ice Climbers in Melee (since Pokemon was still extremely popular at the time, whereas Ice Climber was a largely forgotten relic of the NES era), yet he ended up being unlockable while the ICs were starters.
