WAAAAARRR!!

Serious Sam is a game series created by Croteam. Originally debuting to the world in 2001, The game follows the adventures of titular protagonist Sam "Serious" Stone as you ran and gunned in an FPS arena based shooter, Locking you in large rooms full of clusters of enemies until you could proceed onto the next area. The game has delved into several genre's for spinoffs including platformers and even top-down shooting. Sam is a tough as nails, one-liner making casual "tough guy", taking on armies of aliens by himself with a large arsenal of weaponry.

Why should they be in Smash Bros?
Aside from being a fairly popular FPS protagonist (Although not to the extent of Duke Nukem and the Doom Slayer), The series has had two installments on Nintendo systems. Serious Sam Advance for the Gameboy Advance and Serious Sam: The Next Encounter on the gamecube. So he already has a bit of history with them, albiet brief. Along with this his large arsenal could really benefit to his moveset.
What can Sam do you may as? His most notable weapons consist of a Minigun, Laser Gun and even a freakin' portable cannon.

He also gains the aid of several powerups in later games from a pickup that allows him to do double damage and one that allows him to run faster. He also has a screen clearing weapon simply known as the Serious Bomb, Scarce but powerful, these cartoony lil' things clear out entire areas of surrounding enemies. In the third entry to the game he gains the ability to perform executions and ups his melee combat by making his main weapon a sledgehammer and giving him a gauntlet that powers an energy lasso which can be used to take out large groups of enemies.

Sam is a very simply character with plenty of potential with his large arsenal at his array.

Points against them for being in Smash Bros?
Undoubtably, Sam is a pretty violent series and sure we have had Bayonetta and Snake but Serious Sam has been pretty much known for gratious amounts of gore flying everywhere. While the series is somewhat more light-hearted in comparison to Doom, It went into an arguably more grittier direction starting with the third game. And similar to Duke Nukem, It's "evolved with the times" and even became more heavier on the swearing and as mentioned earlier, added execution moves he could pull off with his bear hands such as ripping an enemies heart or large eye out. While the series did take a more cartoony direction with it's art design starting with Serious Sam on the Xbox and ending with Serious Sam 2, This direction seems to have been dropped with Serious Sam 3 and Croteam doesn't seem to have any interest in visiting this direction again probably due to lukewarm reception.

...But what do you all think? If you think you are Serious enough, Sign up on the offical list of supporters. While I doubt he'd be likely to get in anytime soon, I'd be more than thrilled to play as Earth's most badass defender. Sorry, Duke. :p
